Sunday Post #163 (2/21/16) – Viking Dicks & Musicals

SundayPost

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It has been like springtime here. We’ll have a day of rain, and then it’ll be beautiful and sunny. Everything is so green. Of course, we still need a ton more rain and snow to help with the drought; there are places around here that still don’t have any water at all. But it’s nice to see things alive and have some color, instead of brown and dead. I ended up at the beach last weekend, and it was gorgeous. I need to go more often.

Still not reading all that much. I keep trying to pick up the ARCs I have for this month and I just can’t do it for one reason or another. I have plenty of other books I actually want to read though, so it’s fine.

I can’t decide if I want to use Instagram or not. I try to take more pictures, but the way I post them is so sporadic. I mostly just upload to Facebook, but … I don’t know. I don’t really like the feel of Instagram. Blah, oh well. Who cares. I’ll just do it where and when I feel like it.

On the Blog

  • To the Stars by Molly McAdams (review) – A lot of abusive drama, but still a good book.
  • Perfect Days by Raphael Montes (review) – Love an effed up story, but this was kinda boring.

Books Read

Vision in Silver by Anna Bishop

Books Acquired

I was a verra good girl.

Purchased:

No way was I passing this up at $0.99. Karina Halle is one of my go-to authors.

What I’m Listening To

Holy crap! Okay, I heard of Hamilton a few months ago but didn’t pay that much attention. Until the Grammy’s. The cast performed the song below and won Award for Best Musical Album. I immediately downloaded it and was blown away! I’ve listened to it a few times this week and got so caught up in it. I can’t even tell you how freaking fantastic it is. Not going to lie, it’s an emotional roller coaster and had me in tears at times. Lin-Manuel Miranda is one creative mothereffer. What I wouldn’t give to watch the entire play on Broadway. #Obsessed

What I’m Watching

Vikings is back! The first episode of the forth season rocked! Rollo is such a dick, but he and Gisla are going to be sooo much fun.

Have a great week!

  1. I’m so bad at taking photos for Instagram and I’m very sporadic too, but ehh I don’t really mind it. I just like looking at other people’s photos!
And yay for reading Vision in Silver! I read the 3 books last week and had a blast! I’m excited to read the 4th book already! ๐Ÿ™‚
And The Vikings sounds amazing! I need to make some time for it. ๐Ÿ™‚
Happy reading and have a wonderful week! Don’t stress out too much about not feeling like reading any of your ARCs. You read what makes you happy!

  2. It felt like spring here too (even if it was only in the 50’s) LOL but with the sun out it felt good. It was nice by the water even if the waves were washing up bits of ice. Anyway I have spring fever now big time! Hope you guys get the rain you need…

I started Vikings but I’m only on season one, i need to make some time to catch up. Hope you have a nice week.

Is it weird that I’m almost disappointed that your Viking Dicks was about Rollo acting like a dick, and not… you know… ๐Ÿ˜‰ :p
I use IG, but not all the time, I’m not as creative as some folks, and I just click once to show which book I’m reading and post it. You should do whatever you feel like doing, Christy!
Congrats on getting only one new book this week! I hope you’ll enjoy it.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  4. I started watching Vikings when it first came on and then stopped. I can’t remember why. (Though working nights at the time probably had something to do with it! LOL) I’ll have to catch up on it though, cause I hear a lot of people raving about it!

I haven’t listened to Hamilton soundtrack, either. You’ve inspired me to though, so..here it goes! Have a great week and happy reading!

  5. I’m terrible at Instagram! Periodically I decide that I’m really going to use it and I post a picture or two a day for 3 or 4 days and then I forget for awhile. I haven’t seen Hamilton either but all of the sudden I’m hearing a lot about it. I’ll have to check out the sound. Have a great week!

  6. Loved the title of this post!! I love Instagram but that just me. I like pictures and taking them – even if they aren’t of the super pretty kind. I have a crap ton of ARCs for this month and next and I know I am going to be late with all of them. Oh well I will get to them at some point!! I got the Hamilton soundtrack on sale but still need to listen. Have a great week!

I’m listening to it AGAIN right now while visiting blogs, and it’s at the part that makes me cry every freaking time.

  7. It was nice all week here and then cloudy and extremely overcast this weekend. I am glad I did not convince the man to go camping at one of the more upscale sites! I am also failing on reading.

  8. I thought El Niรฑo was supposed to hit California hard this year, and we werent’ supposed to get much, but we have gotten dumped on. I am sick of the rain. Wettest winter on record. 25 inches of rain since the first of December and counting. However, things are green. I know what you mean, I am struggling reading my ARCs too. I was on a roll, but now I am grabbing what I want as I am burned out. Have a great week. Oh, and Instagram, I think about it and then I don’t because social media is such a time suck, I don’t need anymore.

  9. It’s fun to get a peek of spring a little early. I never trust it. ๐Ÿ™‚

One of these days, I’ll get around to setting up an Instagram account. Pictures just aren’t my thing unless they are someone elses. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hope your review arc reading slump ends for you soon. But when you’re not feeling it; you’re not feeling it.

    Have a good week, Christy!

  10. Yay for rain and springtime!! I am loving the warmer weather. Although for us, its more snow once a week…and then warm weather the rest of the week hehe. I like instragram, but I only use it for my adult coloring pages, hardly anything else.

That’s great you got some rain and things are looking green again! Sounds like you really needed that rain. I don’t have instagram, I do make some pictures and mostly share them on my blog or facebook and don’t really feel like adding a new social media acocunt now, but who knows maybe eventually. I hope yoll have a great week!

  12. I hope the rain and/or snow keep up. We had spring-like temps last week but Mother Nature reminded us this week that it’s still winter with cold and 18″ of snow. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve considered doing Instagram myself but still haven’t. I think I’m kinda too boring for it. *ha*
YES, you have to see a musical on Broadway. I saw my first one last August…took my younger to NYC because she’s a huge musical fan. We saw Matilda and Wicked.
