Hi Everyone! I have a character interview with Dink, one of my favorite characters from I Loved You First blog tour. (I might have a tiny crush on him, but shhh). You can read my review for the book HERE.
But first, here is a little bit about the book:
Alexandria (Alex) Carmichael guards two secrets close to her heart. One—she’s in love with her best friend, Seth. Two—he’s gay.
As a freshman in college, Alex looks forward to fun times with her best friend. When Seth decides cycling through girlfriends is the way to fit in with the straight crowd, Alex must make a choice: watch Seth give his affections to another while her heart breaks or come clean with her feelings and risk losing his friendship forever.
I Loved You First is a new adult love story told through the eyes of an African-American/Caucasian student who takes a journey of self-discovery while watching her best friend come to terms with his sexuality. Turn the pages and find a message of hope, new beginnings, and positive change.
Alrighty, now let’s get on with the interview:
Hi Dink. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Sure. I’m a linebacker at Van Buren. Come to a game. I’ll be easy to pick out. Just look for number 52 plowing the other team down.
Not that I don’t like your nickname, but if you had to pick a different nickname, what would it be?
People only ask that question if they have a problem with it, but I’m game. How about Rick?
Haha, no, I think “Dink” is kind of cute, actually. And “Rick”… very funny.
What is your favorite football team, besides yours, of course?
The Giants, hands down. Once in awhile, I see the scouts cruising us.
Wow, that’s cool.
What’s your college major?
Business. My dad owns an appliance store. Eventually I’m going to take it over. I’m just getting a little head knowledge, so when the time comes, I can make it big.
I have no doubt that you’ll make it big.
What’s your favorite food?
It’s a tossup between Cheetos and burgers.
So… Are you dating anyone?
No. Were you thinking about hooking me up?
Speaking of dating, have you talked to Alex lately?
Yeah. I see her on campus. With Trinity and some Asian exchange student who dyes his hair blond. Eyebrows and all, like he’s some kind of rock star. Pejuang. Weird name, but hard to forget when he runs fast enough to make Trindon Holliday look like an old man with a broken hip.
Ha! Well, good to hear she’s made more friends..
I have to ask, after the whole fiasco with Seth, would you have a problem with one of your teammates being gay?
Depends. Is he going to pull something weird like Seth did with Bruce?
So where do you see yourself in 5 years?
On the field, clipping Eagles and making their fans cry.
Now that sounds fun!
Thanks for the interview, Dink. Is there anything else you would like to say?
Yeah. Don’t overlook Van Buren just cause we’re a small private school. Our players are just as good as those in D-1, and some of us will make it to the NFL.
