It’s lust-at-first-sight when Brody Singer first sees Abby Dunn. Abby looks a lot like a woman he once knew, one who died years ago. But Abby’s definitely different—shyer but sexier.
Abby’s still trying to put her last disastrous relationship behind her and overcome the flaws her ex wouldn’t let her forget. But somehow Brody isn’t getting the hint. It doesn’t help that when writing her steamy novels, she keeps casting Brody as the hero.
Only Abby can write her own ending—will she choose her own happily-ever-after, or stay safe in her shell?
Oh, was How to Handle a Heartbreaker ever fun! I really liked the first book – The Troublemaker Next Door – but I loved this one more.
It’s been eight months since Abby, Maddie, and Vanessa moved in next door to one of the McCauley brothers, and Maddie and Flynn going strong. This brings Brody and Abby into contact quite a bit, but they aren’t complaining. Abby writes romance/erotica, but doesn’t get to put her imagination to work in real life. That is, until her and Brody come to an arrangement.
A few reasons why this book so is good:
Abby – I liked Maddie in the first book, but I liked Abby a lot more. I thought she was going to be more on the shy and meek side, but I was extremely happy to find that she actually speaks up and can take the lead. I loved watching her work through her confidence issues.
Brody – I’ll be honest, the guy worried me a little in the first book. He was funny, but showed douche tendencies. I was fully prepared to dislike him, but that wasn’t the case at all! He cracked me up. It was also really nice to get his back story and how he came to be the one of the McCauley brothers in every way except blood.
Chemistry – Yeah, these two definitely have it! Again, I was surprised by them. They were so hot, but still sweet and funny. It was pretty sexy how open he was to do anything Abby wanted to try.
Family & friends – I absolutely love how involved they are in this series. It’s hilarious how much shit the brothers give each other, especially Cam. But it isn’t just the guys, the girls give some pretty good banter too. It’s obvious that they are always there for each other no matter how much they rag on one another. And I love how they all are with Colin; that little boy is going to be trouble when he gets older.
Humor and all the feels – There is for sure lots of laughs in this book, but there are also some very touching moments.
How to Handle a Heartbreaker was so much fun! It’s my favorite so far, but I have a feeling the next two books are going to get a lot of love from me.
