October 2017 is quite the spooktacular month! Are we tired of that pun yet? 😀 But really, look what it has:
1) My birthday!
2) Friday the 13th!
Believe me, my birthday can be scary. And I love Friday the 13th, I consider it a lucky day. Halloween is obvious.
I thought I’d share a few of my favorite books that are perfect for this time of year. It’s hard to narrow it down, but I kept it to four. There’s also a giveaway to see if any of the Friday the 13th luck rubs off on one of you!
Okay, here’s my creeptastic picks. I hope you try at least one of them if you haven’t already. They link to my reviews.
Brother by Ania Ahlborn – A story about a family of serial killers living in the heart of Appalachia? Sounds like a plot from a cheesy Chiller channel movie, right? That is not this book. Brother is an excellent story that’s dark, disturbing and twisted. Oh, my!
The Hallowed Ones by Laura Bickle – Vampires, man. They suck the life outta everything. Do not, I repeat, do not let the YA label fool you. This book is freaking creepy and not for the faint of heart. It’s one of the best horror books I’ve read.
Bird Box by Josh Malerman – How do you fight a monster when you don’t even know what it is or what it looks like? Whoever looks at them dies, so imagine feeling them breath down your neck while keeping your eyes firmly shut, and only using your other senses to try to survive. This book gave me chills!
Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts – Zombies, vampires, ghosts … they can all be scary. However, there’s something a lot more disturbing about regular people turning on one another and hunting their neighbors, friends, and families. This book kept me up all night to read in one sitting.
