Mid-Year Top Reads 2019

I’m here!

*looks around*

*crickets chirp*

*wipes dust away*

It’s been awhile, eh?

Last time I posted was my Top Reads of 2018, so … yeah. Slacking, I am. However, I’m not even stressed about it. It’s actually kind of pathetic how long it took me to put this simple post together, though. Let’s be honest, you probably won’t see anything on here again until my 2019 Top Reads. Oh well, I still update on Goodreads.

I may not post, but I am doing plenty of reading. Especially a lot of audiobooks lately, giving me the chance to catch up on and start some series I’ve put off for way too long. I’m absolutely loving the Mercy Thompson and the Alpha & Omega series by Patricia Briggs.

Anyway, I narrowed my list down to six and only included those published in 2019.

The Unhoneymooners – This was a lot of fun. The hate-to-love trope is my absolute favorite, especially when there is great banter.

The Wicked King – Oh, boy! Now this is a sequel! So freaking good and totally addicting.

Recursion -This book is crazy good. It’s seriously one wild ride.

The Silent Patient – Loved it! This book was completely captivating and worth all the buzz.

The Rest of the Story – I loved my first Dessen book and all its wonderful characters.

Middlegame – This was a unique and all-around cool book.

Have you read any of these?

  1. So excited to see you and that you are finally giving the Alpha and Thompson series a try! They are my favorites and I love love that they coincide with each other, so much fun!
I loved the Unhoneymooners! It was so fun. I just got The Silent Patient from the library (I saw you talking about it on Twitter) and can’t wait to start it!
Don’t stay away so long next time. We miss you! 😉

  2. Dang it, I typed this nice thoughtful comment and your lame ass blog ate it. Probably doesn’t know how to handle comments. You are missed, please throw your reviews up on the blog. We miss you!

  3. I can’t wait to read Holly Black’s books! And I’m so happy you enjoyed Dessen’s novel! You should totally check out Just Listen and This Lullaby. For me Unhoneymooners wasn’t the greatest and I think it’s because I’ve read so many other enemies-to-lovers that are much better so the expectations for this one weren’t completely my :/ Glad you loved it, though!

  4. I haven’t read any of these but I’ve read reviews for most of them and they sound good. I hope you’ll post more soon. I follow you on Goodreads and Twitter so I’ll see you around.

I really like the Mercy Thompson series and got another of those books yesterday. I’ll wait for your next post, whenever that happens to be. No worries. 🙂

I have Holly Black’s series to read so I’ll be on that soon b/c romance isn’t really my thing right now. I just read the first 4 Kate Daniels books so I need a wee break from that 🙂 I have Middlegame so I’ll have to find time for McQuire’s darkness now that I know it’s good.

I didn’t expect much from the Unhoneymooners so that one rocked for me earlier this year. And funny that we both read Dessen for the first time this year, too!!! That was a great, quirky story, I thought!!!!

  7. I am glad to see you enjoyed Middlegame. I really want to read that one, but then read a couple not so positive reviews and began to doubt my interest in it. I trust you though. 🙂 It sounds like you’ve had a great first half of the year, Christy! I am glad you are reading. Blog when you want and can–we’ll be okay with that. 🙂 Have a great second half of the year.
