Angel Crawford has finally pulled herself together (literally!) after her disastrous dismemberment on Mardi Gras. She’s putting the pieces of her life back in order and is ready to tackle whatever the future holds.

Too bad the future is a nasty bitch. There’s a new kind of zombie in town: mindless shamblers, infectious and ravenous.

With the threat of a full-blown shambler pandemic looming, and a loved one stricken, Angel and the “real” zombies scramble to find a cure. Yet when Angel uncovers the true reason the plague is spreading so quickly, she adds “no-holds-barred revenge” to her to-do list.

Angel is busting her ass dealing with shambling hordes, zombie gators, government jerks, and way too many mosquitos, but this white trash chick ain’t giving up.

Good thing, since the fate of the world is resting on her undead shoulders.

I always have the best time with these books, and White Trash Zombie Unchained is no exception. It was indeed another great time filled with laughter, excitement, and outstanding characters.

I love zombies! Always have and always will. However, as I said many times before, this is not your typical zombie book and is great for people who normally shy away from the whole zombie thing. The Walking Dead this is not! This definitely has more of an urban fantasy feel.

I can’t even tell you how much I adore Angel! She is without a doubt one of my favorite heroines. Angel started out as an underdog, but certainly proved she’s not to be underestimated, even proving it to herself. The growth Angel went through makes me so freaking happy! She’s smart, loyal, scrappy, has a huge heart and always stood up for what’s right. Oh, and best of all, her snark is on point!

This series is filled with a lot of wonderful characters beside Angel. Just as Angel evolved, so do the rest of them. I love the fantastic dynamic she established with so many of them, and what a kick-ass support system they became. These supporting characters really do take the series to another level.

This does appear to be the final book in the series, and if it is, then I feel completely content and happy with the way it ended. I truly enjoyed the story in White Trash Zombie Unchained, but it also did a great job closing the overall series storyline. However, I’d love more Angel!

I can’t recommend listening to the audiobook enough! If you’re a reluctant audio listener or think they aren’t for you, this is one of those series/narrators that will prove otherwise. Allison McLemore is queen! I do listen on a faster speed, but I do that with all audiobooks.

Also, the cover is freaking badass and GORGEOUS! It’s absolutely my favorite of the series.

  1. Totally agree with your assessment of the zombie-ness and UF feel, Angel and the gang. Oh I do hope there is more, but it does finish up several things. I read this one first and then book one. I need to read the in between ones. 🙂

    Love it on audio, too!

  2. I have the first book in this series on my kindle so I NEED to get reading it soon. I’ve been hearing really good things about this series as a whole and I’m glad to see you loved this one. Love that there are some awesome characters!

Oh, my gosh, Lauren, you really do need to read the first book. They only get better as they go! 🙂

  3. I’ve actually slowing buying these here and there when I’ve seen the series out on sale but had planned on binge reading the series, like so many others. I just find it more enjoyable not to wait months for a new installment. I’ll have to grab the last few! I love how urban the series is, it reminds me a little more like Warm Bodies than The Walking Dead. both I absolutely love. Brilliant review Christy and I’m thrilled that the series has ended on such a high for you ♥♥♥

  4. I loved the first book when I listened to it. It’s been awhile and I have already bought the second audio. I just need to sit down and listen. Or drive and listen like I did the first one. It was great on a long road trip. Glad you have loved it all the way through!

  5. That cover! Angel is definitely on of the most unique and awesome characters I’ve read — and she’s a zombie and I don’t like zombies! LOL

I have always thought about starting this series. Maybe that it is over (maybe)I will start the audios. Greta review!

  7. Ahh man… I can’t believe that this series is ending. I need to catch up I think I am on book four. I do love Angel and I am happy to hear it ends well. Totally agree, the covers for this series rock.

  8. I love it when narrators really bring a story to life! It can really make or break someone’s experience with the story. As for this book… I don’t mind zombie books (loved The Forest of Hands and Teeth), but I’m not sure if this one would be for me. I’m not against trying it though, because I could be wrong, and you seem to really enjoy it!

  9. I have so much love for this series. I was a little surprised when I got to the end because it felt so final. I didn’t know that this was going to be the last one in the series. I do think that the door is open for more Angel and I hope we get it. I do agree with you that audio is the way to go with this series.

  10. I’m so behind on blogging lately, blech. I really wish my library had these in digital format. Dang it, I might have to request a hard copy of it instead. They look so fun and I need something different right now. Maybe after I catch up on a few series I will give this a go.

Routine eye examinations are important to maintain good eye health, as many vision problems are symptomless, but are diagnosed easily by an Optometrist. By diagnosing eye and vision conditions early on, we are able to provide treatment options, and in many cases maintain, restore, or prevent vision loss.
