Is This Thing On?

It’s been awhile, eh? Did ya miss me? Don’t answer that. πŸ˜€ The last time I posted on here was in January! I’ve had a lot going on – good and blah – so blogging/reviews took a seat.Β And honestly, I just didn’t feel like blogging. *shrugs* It was actually nice reading books at my leisureΒ and not even dealing with the rest. Thing is, lately IΒ want to blog, butΒ doing it is a different story. The struggle is real, man. But I have read some great books over the past few months and will try to share them soon.

Anyway, what’s going on with you all? What’s one of the best books you’ve read so far this year?

*whispers* Any good gossip or controversies? Spill it!

  1. There you are. I feared you’d gone off and joined a cult. LOL, I am doing a lot of backlists reading Incryptid series, I finished Iron Druid Chronicles and started on Jim Butcher. I really liked Digging In, if you liked Garden of New Beginnings. Did you read Silence Lake?

Pfft, I’d start my own cult before joining one. Silence Lake is one I still need to post about. Loved it! The Incryptid series is one I’m going to start soon.

  2. Hey there, Christy! Glad you could get some time away to yourself. Look forward to your thoughts on your books.

Just finished work on a story that is headed to the editor and lately I’ve just been prepping my yard for spring, cleaning up after our bad ice storm, and catching up on my review pile. Hmm, favorite read? Well, how about my latest fav- Save Me by Cecy Robson. πŸ™‚

  3. Glad to have you back. Life sure can get in the way at times. I haven’t been posting as much as I used to. We all need a break from time to time. I like to read just for fun and not write reviews sometimes too. I do that sometimes with books that I purchase or get from the library. I hope things settle down for you. I’ll look forward to your posts whenever they come. {{hugs}}

  4. Of course we missed you, at least I know I did and it looks like so far everyone agrees with me. πŸ˜‰ Blogging is such a win and lose situation. I love it too, well the talking to friends part but the work part lately, ugh. The struggle is definitely real.
Love and Other Words is awesome so definitely read that if you haven’t yet, you’ll love it. And yes to the new Anne Bishop, way better than I was expecting since I knew I would miss Meg and Simon, do wish they had a cameo though, maybe next book.

  5. Welcome back! It seems like a lot of people are struggling with blogging lately. Reading on a schedule can be a bit taxing, but sometimes it just takes some ‘free’ reads to reinvigorate your reading and blogging life. Hopefully that works for you!

My favorite book of the year so far is Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas. I dropped life to pick that book up. LOL

    Good to ‘see’ you! πŸ™‚

    • Christy

I bought Birthday Girl the day it came out but decided to wait to read it. I like to save her books for when I reeeeally need them because I love them so much. Not sure how long I can resist though. lol.

  6. Welcome back! I’ve been away since October myself and I KNOW the struggle. I’ve been watching a lot of Netflix, Doctor Foster is my latest obsession. Book, best one for me so far is The Favorite Sister by Jessica Knoll.

      • Sorry to jump in here, but I saw Doctor Foster as I was scrolling down. πŸ™‚ The first season was a trip! There’s a certain moment late in the series that was frickin awesome ha ha. I just watched the second season and didn’t like it as much. Watch the first one lol!!!

  7. I am glad you are back. I missed your face. I would be lost without you. I get it, I think I am going to catch up on blogging this week and blog ahead, and then I don’t. It is only going to get worse with summer. I am looking forward to your reviews.

    • Christy

I get those moments of motivation to blog ahead, but then I only do like 30% of each post. lol. It’s hard to completely quit though. Besides, you’ll never get rid of me!

  8. Nathan

It is good to see your back! I will name a few I finished I think you might like: Monsters: Awaking vol1 by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda (graphic novel); Interview with the vampire by Anne Rice; Their Siren by Charlie Hart and Anastasia James (Which I found for a cheap price on Badbirdsreads); The Secret of a Heart Note by Stacey Lee and Wolf Signs by Vivian A. Oh, and I finished at the beginning of Jan. Endurance: Shackleton’s extraordinary Voyage by Daniel Bryce. I highly recommend it.

    • Christy

Thanks, Nathan! Those are some great recs. I’d like to read Interview With a Vampire, especially since it’s been so long since I watched the movie so it shouldn’t make an impact. I looked up The Secret of a Heart Note – looks good! The Bryce book does too.

I was just thinking that I haven’t gotten any email notifications from you lately so I figure you were on a break, too. I came back after monthssssss. So don’t fret. These people welcome you with open arms. πŸ™‚

  10. Can i share with you how much I LOVE Terry Crews?!?!?! That is him, right? Made my day yesterday, yes that did!! Ya know, ditto on everything you said for me, too. I’m 4 ahead on my reading challenge, too. Yay me.

I wish I knew of some gossip! If you hear of any, send it this way. I know Kim knows stuff, for sure! We must break her.

I JUST read “My Plain Jane” by these three ya authors (don’t make me remember) and it was so much fun! It was historical, the authors spoke to the reader through the story in funny ways, and it was really, really my kind of funny! Like you have to picture what’s happening to laugh harder πŸ™‚

Got any romance book ideas? All these authors I’ve never heard of and I have no clue who to read! Eek!

    Love your body, Larry.

    • Christy

lol – Yup, it’s Terry. *sigh* I may have enjoyed my reading lately, but I’m 5 behind on my reading challenge.

Ohhh, we’ll have to get Kim liquored up. πŸ˜€

I know what book you’re talking about. I have the first book because I like Brodi Ashton and Jodie Meadows.

I haven’t read much romance lately except Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennet, but I think you read that. You should read Dear Dwayne, With Love by Eliza Gordon. So fun! I’ll post it next week.

      *shoots finger guns*

  11. Welcome back! I’m struggling with the wanting and doing lately myself! Can’t wait to see what you’ve read over the past few months. I’ve read a lot of great books so far this year but not many that really stand out as being amazing.

  12. Hey there!! Whatcha been up to? πŸ™‚ Come on back girl! Let’s see, best books so far? Crap that’s a toughie- maybe the Wolves of Winter, or Bad Girls With Perfect Faces. Both were pretty awesome.

I’m trying to come back. I really am! πŸ˜€ Wolves of Winter sounds familiar, I’ll look it up.

  13. Hi!!! Good to hear from you! That’s good you’ve been enjoying reading for leisure, even if you did ditch all of us (just kidding) πŸ˜‰ The best book I read so far was probably The Grey Bastards by Jonathan French. I’m sure there have been some controversies, there always are, but I try to stay out of those lol. Anyway, get your blogging butt in gear and come back to us!

  14. It is so good to see you again! I am glad you are back, Christy. Life does have a way of getting in the way of blogging, doesn’t it? Sometimes it is nice to take a break though–intentional or not.

  15. Ha! I know the struggle is real. I keep considering taking a break myself. I’m happy you’re back though and that you enjoyed some reading for leisure time. I’m thinking that was really nice, yeah? I don’t know any good gossip and I’m not sure what I’d consider the best book I’ve read so far this year…The Alice Network? Written in Red? Braving the Wilderness? It might have been one of those and then it could be my old standby…anything from Kristen Ashley. LOL Anyway, glad you’re back and now I’m off to read all your reviews. πŸ˜€
