Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m more than ready to welcome a new year. 2017 pretty much sucked ass and can bugger off. There were a few hard losses, including my grandpa, so I’m looking forward to a better 2018.
I had anticipated a busy year and knew I wouldn’t have as much reading time, so I set my goal lower than usual. My Goodreads goal was 40, but I ended up reading 64 books. Still lower than my norm, but better than expected. I’ll probably set my 2018 goal at 60.
I’ve been saying it all year, but my blogging has slowed way down too. I try to post at least once a week or every other week and I suspect it’ll continue that way for awhile. I want to thank all of you who still visit when I do pop up. I’m a little more active on Facebook between blog posts, so feel free to add me there if you want.
Top Reads
Every year it’s a challenge to keep this list under control, but limits must be set! So, these are only books that were published in 2017 & made a big impression on me in some way. They all link to my reviews.
Best Book Boyfriends
I’m super picky about who gets labeled a BB.
♥ I’m okay with Reyes, but give me Osh & Garrett from Twelfth Grave all day, any day.
♥ David Lisey from Atheist Who Kneel and Pray.
♥ Connor Rogan from Wildfire.
2018 Books
A few books I’m most looking forward to in 2018. It will be a hard year with two beloved series coming to an end.
I’m including the 13th Charley Davidson book too, but there isn’t a cover or title yet.
What about you? What are some of your picks?
I hope 2018 will be better in a lot of ways. Hopefully yours will be especially good. You’ve certainly earned it. I haven’t read any of your favorites, but they do sound good. Most of them are either on my TBR pile or on my wish list.
I hope you hacw Happy New Year, Christy!
Love seeing some of my favorites on this list! And yes to all of those 2018 reads. I am sad about some of my beloved series ending but…I know the authors will kick butt with the endings, at least they freaking better!
Hope you have a wonderful New Year Christy!!
I hope your 2018 is much better for you. {Hugs} Your too reads are such amazing ones that I want to read so badly. Happy New Years Hon!!!
Happy New Year, Christy! I’m liking this new look! 😉
How can Connor not be on anyone who has read that series’ lists????? 😉
Since I started grad school last year my blogging as slowed down too. Oh well. We do what we can! It looks like you read a lot of good books this past year. I still need to read Pierce Brown’s series. *hangs head* Happy New Year!
I hope this is a better year for you.
I hope you have a better 2018. I beat last years reading goal and read 64 stories. Your reading rate is still pretty good. Happy New Years!
Happy New Year!! Hoping 2018 is a much better one. I really enjoyed Garden of Small Beginnings and Alex this year and liked Without Merit too. Starry Eyes is high on my anticipated list too.
Awesome top picks. I do have Without Merit on audio and hope to read and review soon. Happy New Year my friend!
I do hope that 2018 is much better – for you and so many others! I still need to read And I Darken (to get to the sequel) and This Darkness Mine.

Happy New Year! You many not have read or blogged as much as you used to but you did read some great ones. I hope 2018 is a good year for you.
Screw limits. Share as many books as you want 😉 Unfortunately I haven’t read any of these, but I’m glad you loved them! I swear I’ve seen the And I Darken books on like everybody’s list, so I’m just gonna have to read that one.
Also, your blog is different, right? The color and maybe the header? I’m not imagining that? Or maybe I am since my memory isn’t great and no one else has mentioned it in the comments lol.
You must be trippin, Kristen My blog is the same as always Kidding. Yes, I changed it. lol
Yay some great ones there! Happy new year Christy!
first…did you do change your background and header?? LOVE IT!
yay for surpassing you 2017 reading goal! I see many books that I’ll be reading here so hopefully we have tons to chat about. Sorry to hear 2017 wasn’t so good and wish you a great 2018!
Thanks! Yeah, I’d change my blog every week with my mood if I had the time. lol.
Here’s to a great 2018! Mindy McGinnis is one I’d like to try, and Starry Eyes looks good too.
Happy New Year, Christy! I hope 2018 treats you better than 2017. I agree, 2017 is many ways, sucked ass and I’m ready to tackle the new year. Happy reading and great list!
I hope you have a better 2018. I would say to post when you can. This should be a fun hobby, not something you struggle with. I only post a few times a week. Happy 2018!
Ahhhh I’m so ashamed to say that I haven’t read any of these! 🙁 I keep seeing Bad Romance in the bookstore and my fingers are always itching to get it–but sadly, my mother has put me on a temporary book-buying ban. Whoops. D: Anyway, I hope your 2018 reading goes as great as 2017–or even better! <3
I’m so sorry about your grandfather again Christy, it must have been a difficult time over Christmas and hope you and the family are doing okay.
I absolutely love how widely and varied you read, I click through my bookmark to visit and never sure what to expect. You also recommend books I probably wouldn’t have picked up myself either. Not to mention costing me a small fortune. I’ll be sad to have to say goodbye to Lada this year too. I absolutely love the series and was hoping she might carry it for another three books. There’s so much history to be told. Fingers crossed.
I haven’t got my act together enough to put together a list yet. I envy those of you who do. So sorry about your grandpa 🙁 I hope 2018 is a much better year for all of us.
Happy New Year to you! Glad you are still hanging in there and blogging. I would miss you way too much. I am sad some of my fav series are ending this year, but looking forward to new things.
Great list and recap! I still haven’t even done mine… that’s how blah I’ve become so bravo to you!!! *claps loudly* I did my list, though, and it looks very similar to yours 🙂
I LOVE the new look!!! Best purple evah!! And that font for Love of books goes so cutely with the Christy’s!! Excellent… *done in my best Mr. Burns voice*
Happy New Year!!!!! xoxoxoxo
You had some great reads in 2017. Hope 2018 will reap some exciting reads.
Yay, glad to read your TOP favorites of the year. I loved The Others series and am planning to read The Darrynda Jones series. I’ve heard awesome things about the series. ?❤️??
I hope you have a great 2018! Your top of 2017 include some books I haven’t read yet, so I will check them out!
I’m sorry 2017 was a hard one 🙁 I hope 2018 is the fabulous year we all deserve!
I have read none of your favourites from last year, but I do have a few of them on my TBR. I hope I get to them eventually!
Happy, Healthy New Year. I haven’t read any of your list but I’ve been wanting to read Without Merit. 🙂
So hoping that 2018 is a better year! The Garden of Small Beginnings would have made my list were I a more consistent blogger and had I posted 2017 favs. Eh…I may yet do a let post.
I hope 2018 is better in so many ways! I struggled this year to come up with enough to put on my favorite list. I think I was too stingy this year! lol
I loved Etched in Bone and Wildfire, too. I LOVE Mad Rogan!
I want to read Alex, Approximately so bad. I’ve seen that on a lot of lists.
I’m sorry about your grandfather.
My 2017 sucked ass as well. I am so glad 2018 is here!
I also really enjoyed Now I Rise. It made my top books for 2017. I am so looking forward to Iron Gold. I guess I need to read Morning Star first huh? Yea it has been on my TBR for way too long. Great list!
I must read some of these books. So Happy I got into Charley Davidson because of you. So sorry to hear about your grandpa. I haven’t been around lately either. Life sucks!
I’m trying to do better myself this year…. and look it is already March and I’m still catching up!
