Ever since Reyes escaped from a hell dimension in which Charley accidently trapped him, the son of Satan has been brimstone-bent on destroying the world his heavenly Brother created. His volatile tendencies have put Charley in a bit of a pickle. But that’s not the only briny vegetable on her plate. While trying to domesticate the feral being that used to be her husband, she also has to deal with her everyday life of annoying all manner of beings—some corporeal, some not so much—as she struggles to right the wrongs of society. Only this time she’s not uncovering a murder. This time she’s covering one up.
Add to that her new occupation of keeping a startup PI venture—the indomitable mystery-solving team of Amber Kowalski and Quentin Rutherford—out of trouble and dealing with the Vatican’s inquiries into her beloved daughter, and Charley is on the brink of throwing in the towel and becoming a professional shopper. Or possibly a live mannequin. But when someone starts attacking humans who are sensitive to the supernatural world, Charley knows it’s time to let loose her razor sharp claws. Then again, her number one suspect is the dark entity she’s loved for centuries. So the question becomes, can she tame the unruly beast before it destroys everything she’s worked so hard to protect?
Duuuude. These books are never long enough. I try, I really try to take my time with each book so it’ll last, but it’s impossible! We’re twelve books into the series with one book left *sobs uncontrollably* and it’s still amazing as ever.
So much happens in The Trouble with Twelfth Grave! Charley has to deal with the consequences of what happened in the previous book, because, damn, things went downhill fast. Of course, things can’t be simple. While dealing with Reyes and that deadly predicament, she also juggles other cases. You know how Charley always seems to find herself running on caffeine, no sleep, and dealing with a million things at once! It’s one of my favorite aspects of the series though. I love the multiple storylines and how they tend to eventually merge in some way.
I can’t express enough how much I love these characters. Like, massively! Obviously, Charley is at the top of the list. There’s no chance of boredom with her around because she for sure brings the humor! I love, love, love when the whole gang gets together, especially when Charley leads them into some shenanigans. But lordy, the duo of Garrett and Osh is so freaking extra.
I could seriously go on about all of the things I love about this book, but spoilers, sweetie. I mean, if you’ve already started the series, then you won’t be disappointed. If you haven’t yet, then you are missing out on one of the best series ever. Just do not read out of order.
I’m so sad the series is coming to an end, but I’m happy that each book continues to blow me away. There are plenty of series that I’ve lost interest in, but I’m always left desperately craving the next Charley Davidson book.
For-freaking-sure! This was a fab book with all the goodies, but then the ending that left me gaping. I want 13th Grave, but then I don’t b/c its the end. Reader problems…. 🙂
I haven’t read the series but I’ve heard it’s pretty good.
I really had a good time with this one as well!
I haven’t heard a bad thing about this series!!! I really need to get to it one of these days. Glad you enjoyed it!
It’s honestly amazing how well-loved this series is. It’s hard for an author to be able to do that when a series is as long as this one. Glad this was another hit for you!
YES! I tried to savor it. Garret and Osh rock 🙂 If I didn’t know we were getting a spinoff series I would simply sit and cry in a corner. And I totally agree, some series I lose interest in, but this every release has me excited.
I do the same thing and I still end up flying through it, although this seemed shorter than usual. I’m so sad this is almost over, even with a spin off, it won’t quite be the same. I adore these characters and I swear they are family now.
wait, what? ::( why? nooo I never want this to end, I’ll miss everyone. I mean seriously, these characters are like a part of me now
I know. 🙁
I want to read this series so badly! I’m happy to know that even after this many books that it has kept you so enthralled. Great review Christy!
I have not read this series, but I have heard great things about it. Adding to my TBR. Great review.
I am nervous about this one, but happy to hear everyone is loving it. The end of the last book was such a shocker. I have had my ebook copy for weeks, but I am holding out for the audiobook copy!
I feel the same. Cannot wait to get to this one. Have to wait on audio since I’ve done the rest that way. Needs to get to it soon!
I LOVE that you are still a huge fan after 12 books. I have the first one and I HAVE to read it soon. I love books with good characters.

This will be my next series to devour. Awesome review, my friend. You just sold it to me and now I can’t op thinking of it. ?❤️❤️❤️❤️
I haven’t touched this series in a while. I need to catch up! Loved your review.
I really need to give this series a try! It sounds great.
I really have to make reading this series a priority. I bought it years ago but can’t seem to find the time for it. It sounds like something I would love. Glad you enjoyed it!
Ahhhh, your glee is palable! I’m so pleased for you that it’s as awesome as you thought it would be!
I love these series and I agree with you 100%, it’s a shame it’s coming to an end :<
This is one of those series I’ve been wanting to read for a while, but with 12 books out already, that’s a lot of money and it’s also just kind of overwhelming. But if the characters and everything is that great, then I need to see which books my library has or something!
oh I like your thoughts on this one. I want to read this series but I want to wait until it gets closer to the last book being published. I don’t care too much for cliffhangers, and I know this series has them hehe Because really cliffhangers keep me up at night hehe So unless I have the whole series ready to read I wait. 🙂 Glad you enjoyed it though and I like that this series is so strong still. But I will follow your advice and read it in order.
Ugh, I can’t stand that it’s ending. And I didn’t get approved for the eARC. Sons of Bitches!!!! Now I have to go spend money. Happy it was amazballs.
I just read a review for another book in the series, I think book 8, and it sounded really good! Now I really want to try to get this series.
She’s such a remarkable author, very few could make it to twelve books in a series and still enchant and excite readers. Your love for the series is completely infectious Christy. I have book one on Kindle actually and will be reading it shortly. Been getting into the mysteries lately. Brilliant review Christy, thrilled you enjoyed it <3
