Posted June 28, 2017 | 40 Comments

It’s that time! We’re halfway through the year! Can you believe it? The first half of 2017 hasn’t been very kind, but it has produced some pretty damn good books, so I’m going to share my Top Reads of 2017 (so far).

I’m only including books that were published this year. They’re not listed in any particular order. They link to my reviews.

Okay, here we go …

The Garden of Small Beginnings by Abbi Waman

White Hot by Ilona Andrews

Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett

Eleventh Grave by Darynda Jones

The Turn by Kim Harrison

Etched in Bone by Anne Bishop

The Burning World by Isaac Marion

Now I Rise by Kiersten White

Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios

Have you read any of these? If not, you should!

I hate the cover for WH & the rest of the trilogy. They totally misrepresent the books. TBW was so good! Even better than the first book.

Dude, The Burning World is a lot better. It has a different vibe about it & more interesting. I’m dying for the 3rd book. Definitely give it ago.

  1. I just got The Garden of Small Beginnings and read the first book before White Hot. I’ve literally got the rest on a wish list or read an earlier book, too. Neat how the preferences are similar and good to know these particular books made your list.

I have to agree, the first half of the years was kind of hard, but there were some good books. Hopefully things will improve.

  3. Awesome list, girlfriend. I have read almost all of them except the Demetrios book and the Warm Bodies one. I just finished the first book in the White series yesterday on audio so listening to the next one soon. You know how much I love Garden of Small Beginnings. White Hot was outstanding as was the Bishop book and Bennett book. Hopefully, we will have some gems in the second half of the year.

  4. Sorry to hear 2017 hasn’t been a good one but I’m glad you’re reading is going well. I just read the first Darynda Jones and really liked it. I’m looking forward to reading more. I will read the first in the Anne Bishop series this year if I have to finished it on New Year’s Eve! The Garden of Small Beginnings looks so wonderful. I’m hoping to get to it soon. Hope the 2nd half of 2017 behaves itself for you!

  5. I agree on ALL of these except I’ve never heard of The Burning World. That came out of left field for me. AND I’m completely dragging in Now I Rise. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great story, full of the history I absolutely LOVE. It’s just that Radu’s parts of self-reflection are soooooooooooooooooooo long!! And Lada’s scenes are so short. Of course, if it were written otherwise, the reader might get whiplash. I’m personally just having issues getting through it. If Radu would just “man-up”, grow up, and, how does that song go???? “Love the one… ” Yeah, that about sums it up.

Have you read Wildfire from Andrews yet????????!!!!!!

Radu is learning. 🙂 No, Wildfire is coming up soon for me, but I’ve been dragging on the reading.
