Happy Mother’s Day!
Already halfway through May. Yay … ? The weather is all over the place – high 90’s, then chilly and raining, then windy af. My wardrobe is confused.
I finally finished my 1st book for the Clean Sweep ARC Challenge. Yup, one book. One.ย *sigh* Reading is slow going lately. Even slower than usual. I remember the good old days when I read 15 books a month. Hell, even when I blogged more. ๐
On the Blog
- Violet Grenade by Victoria Scott (review)
- Buns by Alice Clayton (review)
Books Read
- Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs (audio)
- Feel Me by Cecy Robson
- Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas – I’m halfway through & loving it!

For Review:
Watching
I’m 3 episodes into The Handmaid’s Tale. Scary.
Looking Forward To
Andy Weir has a new book coming out! I’m excited! Even better is it’ll be out in November. You can read about it on Nerdist.
Have a great week!
Hey happy 200th post! And happy Mom’s day too. ๐ 90’s? Yikes we can barely get in the 70’s- although it has been a nice week so I can’t complain.
Love that GIF lol.
I’m wondering if I should watch The Handmaid’s Tale. Probably… it’s a dytopian right?
Thanks! ๐ THT is dystopian/speculative fiction… *cough*realistic*cough* Only the first five episodes are out now, so you may want to wait if you prefer to binge or watch the episodes closer together. But definitely watch.
The Red sounds yummy. Looking forward to your review for it. So tempting. July can’t come soon enough.
Andy Weir is a new to me author. I love the Martian but haven’t read the book yet.
I hope you enjoy all these books, Christy. Have a wonderful week and Happy Mother’s Day. ๐
I miss my mom and want to visit her in a few days. So excited. ๐
The Red is on NetGalley *winkwink* No pressure. ๐ And thank you. Hope you have a great time with your mom.
It’s on netgalley? Yay, I’ll try to request it. Fingers crossed. ?
I just finished reading The Red last night… and I don’t have many words yet, except WOW!
Your other new books look good, too, and I hope you’ll enjoy them.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.
Yay for the Moms and yeah, our weather is a roulette wheel of daily options, too.
I’m reading Feel Me this week for the challenge. I wanted to be further along than I am, but this was not a good reading week. Still more May though.
Great haul of books. I’m not familiar with Andy Weir’s books so I’ll have to look it up.
Have a great week, Christy!
200 posts? Good going. The Handmaids Tale is scary. I know it’s fiction but it feels like it could be real.
I know what you mean, I’m also really behind on my books! Good reading to you this week ๐
I wish The Handmaidโs Tale would come out here. I love the book and am dying to watch this adaptation.
I know how you feel. I haven’t been reading nearly as much as I would like. Hell, I’m two weeks behind on visiting blogs. I don’t have Hulu, so I haven’t gotten to watch The Handmaiden’s Tale. I hope you have a great week.
Carrie Vaughn! I have not see a new book from her in awhile! Thank you for the heads up!
Yeah the weather is nuts. I just want warmer temps!! I have the Garden of Small Beginnings to get to as well. Hope we both enjoy it. I don’t have Hulu so no Handmaid Tale for me. I am interested in it though and I like the cast a lot. YAY for new Andy Wier!! Happy Mother’s Day and have a great week!!
I have heard a lot about Buns. It is currently raining here:( Happy Mother’s Day and enjoy the week ahead!
Yes – The Handmaid’s Tale is a very grim read. I’m glad to hear that Andy Weir has a new book out – looking forward to reading it. Hope this coming week is a good one for you – I think our reading rates have all fallen off a bit because of the (slightly) better weather. My Sunday Post – https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/05/14/sunday-post-14th-may-2017/
I am finally put it up my reading slump and reading has been slow this year so I feel ya lol. I have Red for review to am really excited for it. I have seen the garden of new beginning a few times and it looks interesting. Have a good week.
Your weather sounds like my weather this week! Yay for making progress on a challenge! I have a copy of Before She Ignites coming, in theory. I hope you love it! I’ve been watching The Handmaid’s Tale too and I agree it’s disturbing! Have a great week ๐
I know that feeling all too well. This week I finally finished my first book towards the challenge too. Haven’t managed to write a review yet. But hey at least we have finished one.
The books are new to me but I hope you’ll enjoy! happy reading!
Hope this week is a good one and you can get in a bit more reading. At least you finished one! ๐ Those books are all new to me so I hope you enjoy them.
Have a great week and happy reading,
Stormi
Happy Mother’s Day, Christy!
YEP, my wardrobe is very confused too with this weather. It’s annoying. We’re supposed to get really warm weather this week though, so I hope it stays stable.
You’re watching Handmaid’s! Me too! It is some scary shit. I’m up to episode 4, I need to watch the last. We should chat about it when you’re caught up.
Happy reading!
So I never read The Handmaidโs Tale, but I was interested in watching the show. But…I’m not sure, what do you mean when you say “scary”!? haha Have a good week!
Scary because of how realistic it is by using real social norms from here and other countries, how easy it could be to move backwards instead of progressing. Scary times. ๐
I agree, it is scary because unlike zombie films, you can actually see this dystopian actually happening here someday if we are not careful.
OoOoO….totally gifting the new Andy Weir to my brothers and dad for Christmas. Thanks! ๐
Happy Mother’s Day! ๐
Wait, the Handmaiden’s Tale is scary? I am so in! How did I not know that? Hmm, I see that being my summer binge watching thing, whatever you want to call it LOL.
It isn’t scary in that traditional horror movie sense, but more like a social horror. lol
I am ready for the weather to get a bit more consistent. I am really thinking about grabbing The Red on NetGalley even though it isn’t my usual kind of read. I may have to check out The Handmaid’s Tale as well. Have a great week!
We are suppose to get close to 90 this week. I am already over it. My work doesn’t have AC so its miserable. Oh well! Feel Me is coming up on my TBR and I am excited. I really like Cecy Robson’s contemporary romances!
Have a great week!
Happy Mother’s Day, Christy! I hope you got pampered today. ๐
Trying to get back into the swing of things. Sigh. And yeah, weather’s pretty much the same here. A little confused. Lol.
have a great week!
I haven’t been around your blog in ages… I feel your pain with blogging though. Just isn’t happening with me either. I need to read the Throne of Glass series. I’m loving and enjoying A Court of Wings and Ruin at the mo. Hope you had a great Mother’s Day.
I feel like I haven’t read that much this month either, but hopefully I can pick it up these next two and a half weeks. haha I’ve read…two books for the Clean Sweep I think? I’m losing track!

That’s still good! Hoe you check in with the Twitter party today at 7:30 EST
Cheers for reaching 200th post! I hope you enjoy your book haul. The Handmaids Tale looks disturbing. The weather here is cool for May. Happy Mother’s Day :).
Thanks, Nathan. THT is definitely disturbing. *shivers* Totally worth watching.
I watched it last night with my mom. It is worth watching and it is based on a Canadian authors book. Still disturbing.
Aaaah on the slow reading. Super frustrating when that happens. Hope they start going quicker for ya. And happy little late Mother’s Day!
The only reason I stay caught up on blogging is because I listen to audiobooks while I am running errands, exercising, cross stitching and doing chores. I can burn through them. Hope you had a lovely day with your son!
Happy belated Mother’s Day, Christy! I hope you enjoyed your weekend and that your family spoiled you! ๐
What did you think of Iron Kissed? I just finished Blood Bound and have Iron Kissed lined up to read next in that series but I ended up picking up something else to read. Did you like it? Is there a lot of Adam in it because I love me some Adam and Samuel!
The Handmaid’s Tale is also on my watch list for the summer. I’m low key excited to jump into that one.
Thanks, Rowena! Hope you had a nice one too.
I really like Iron Kissed! Heh – yeah, there’s plenty of Adam. ๐
One book is one book more than mine! lol I’m totally gonna suck at this Clean Sweep ARC Challenge. I’m not getting any reading done! OMG A Reisz book!! I’ll check it out NOW! You’ll be back at your good old blogger mode. Wait and see ๐
lol – It’s okay, it’s just for fun anyway. Hope you at least join the Twitter party today @ 7:30 EST.
