The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
So. I mentioned my grandpa and his health about a month ago on here, and I know many of you saw my update on Facebook earlier this week. Well, he passed in the early morning on March 1st before any of us could get there. His wife sat with him all night until the end, but I wish more of his family could have been there. My grandpa was my rock and meant everything to me. He taught me to shoot, bought me my first horse, and supported me no matter what. He’s definitely where I get my orneriness and stubbornness from. I was and always will be a total grandpa’s girl. Love you Papa.
*ahem*
Anyway, on to blogging and reading stuff, shall we? I read five books in February. February, btw! How are we already in March? Sheesh. I meant to post a review or two last week, but, well, you know. So hopefully I’ll do that next week. There’s a lot going on, but I should have some time.
I’m also participating in the Take Control of Your TBR Challenge. I put up a poll on my initial post (linked below) to have you all pick one of the books for me to read, so vote if you haven’t already. Hope all of you have joined! It isn’t too late.
And I want to add a quick ‘eff you’ to Edelweiss. I hate the new site!

Have a great week!Β
Oh I’m sorry to hear that Christy. All my best…
I’ve heard the new Edelweiss is kinda screwy. And Fool’s Assassin- maybe i need to dip back into that series…
Thanks, Greg.
I am so sorry to hear that, Christy. My prayers for you and your family. #hugs
I’ve lost all my grandparents as well and I couldn’t be with them in their final days and I’m still feeling guilty.
I hope you’ll have a great week and awesome books to read. 72 hours sounds great. I’m adding it on my list. π
Oh no, Christy, I’m so sorry about your grandpa. He sounds like he was a great man.
Good luck with the challenge! Maybe it’ll help take your mind off things. And oh no, Edelweiss has a new site? I’ll have to go check it out, as if the original wasn’t confusing enough already -_-
So sorry to hear about your grandpa, Christy! And even if you weren’t at his side when he passed, he knew how much he meant to you, I’m sure. Stubborn, ornery people are my people, I just understand them better than other people <3
I hope you'll have a wonderful week ahead, and that you'll find the time to do things that please you. {{{hugs}}}
I am sorry to hear about your grandpa. My thoughts are with you and your family. I know this will be a hard week for you π I love the cover of Bad Romance, it’s stunning.
I am so very sorry for your loss Christy. From my side, I hope he meets two beautiful twin boys on that mountain to keep him company.
I will look into the TBR take control challenge as well this week – might be good to clear that old shelf a bit.
Good luck to you and I hope you have a lot of peace and comfort this week. And some really good books to read.
My condolences to you and your family on the loss. I hope you all are able to find comfort and support in each other.
Me and Edelweiss have never been good anyway. I NEVER get approved for anything on that stinking site so I rarely go there anyway.
Hope you have a wonderful March!
I;m so sorry about your grandfather Christy. My thoughts are with you and your family.
I got the new Lauren Miller book too and am pretty pumped. Hope you enjoy all your new books and have a good week π
So sorry about your grandpa! May he rest in peace. I often miss my grandpa too, although he passed like a decade ago. Visits me in dreams from time to time, still.
And February did run away, didn’t it? It’s surprising what a few extra days can do for a month, feels so short.
*hugs* So glad your grandma could be there with him but I’m sorry that you weren’t able to be there. He sounds like an amazing man!!
And yes, the new Edelweiss is awful, I so don’t like it. It’s confusing and difficult to navigate and I hate change so there. π
I’m so sorry about your grandpa! It’s so hard to lose a loved one. :/ I’m sorry you weren’t able to be there with him! I do hope you enjoy all your new books. Bad Romance looks really interesting!
I’m so sorry about you grandpa. I always listen to that Vince Gill song when a family member passes. It was played at my uncle Roy’s funeral and it’s jut a beautiful song.
Christy, your family is in my thoughts. I’m so sorry. I hope you are able to share the good memories with one another.
When I first learned of Edelweiss a few years ago, I thought “Yes, I’m gonna get all the cool books!” and took two looks at the site and said “Adios, muchachos!” It made my brain hurt just looking at it.
I always get lost when I visit Edelweiss. Even when I only go there to submit reviews, which came via a widget (I don’t even know how to request on the site) and I can never find the page I need. Takes me twice as long as it should…every…time. Sending thoughts your way, hang in there.
I’m so sorry to hear about your grandpa’s passing. I’m sorry more family couldn’t be there, but it’s nice to know that he wasn’t alone!!
-Lauren
Oh, that’s tough to have him go and be far away. Sounds like you made some solid, loving memories together. Wishing you and your family well, Christy.
Yeah, February was a blink and it was gone. And bummer about Edelweiss, I haven’t checked out the new site yet.
Nice haul there.
Have a marvelous March. π
I am sorry to hear about your grandpa’s passing. You still have your happy memories of your grandpa. This freaky, but my grandmother passed away in the early morning of March 1 this year too! We were going to visit her that day, but she died before we could see her.
You got a nice book haul, and where did February go? Hopefully the rest of March is better.
Thank you, Nathan. Yeah, that’s crazy about the similarities. I’m sorry to hear that about your grandma, though. π
Thank you, Christy. It was rather quick. We heard she was sick on Monday, and by Wednesday, she had passed. It may have been the flu, which at 92, is deadly. I am sorry about your grandpa, as well.
Sorry about your grandfather. *hugs* I am with you as I can’t believe it’s already March. Hope you get in some good reading this week! π
Have a great week!
Stormi
I’m sorry to hear about your Grandfather and my thoughts are with you and your family.
About Edelweiss. I don’t request many books there as it was already kind of confusing to navigate.
I’m sorry to hear about your grandfather. My condolences to you and your family. (((Hugs)))
so sorry to hear about your Grandfather it’s tough π I still remember when my passed away.. – sigh- it sucks when you start losing grandparents, so hard. I hope everything gets better for you hon.
On the bright side, lovely new additions to your shelf. Enjoy <3
ALL MY HUGS TO YOU, CHRISTY. I don’t spend a lot of time on Facebook so, I didn’t know. <3
Have a great week, regardless.
I am so very sorry to hear about your Grandfather. It is really hard to lose someone that has been a very important part of your life for such a long time.
I’m really sorry about your grandpa lady… good lucj for everything
Hugs!
I read your post yesterday and I have been thinking of you.I feel your loss and I understand. I remember when I lost my paternal grandpa when I was 23. I adored him, and he was the one I was the closest too. I was lucky to have all four of my grandparents in my life for as long as I did and, I miss them all dearly all the time. Now losing my mom, it is even harder. However, you find a way to keep going. I hope that you will throw yourself into things that you love whether it be reading watching shows or what not. Keep yourself busy, it helps so much. Big hugs to you. If you need a shoulder, I am always here for you.
We are so sorry to hear about your grandfather, Christy. I know he was super proud of you, and I love how close you were to him. That sounds like a very special and amazing relationship. *all the hugs*
((HUGS)) My condolences on your loss. I’m so sorry you lost someone so important to you and I hate you have to go through it. ((HUGS))
I’m going to really have to check out the new format at edelweiss. Second person to mention it and I’ve been lax at looking at the site. Looks like you have some good books for review and good songs.
So sorry about your grandfather. I know exactly how you feel. My grandfather was a large part of my family too. He basically took on the role of father figure after my dad died when I was eight. He did so much for me. It was a great lose when he died. You do what you need to. {{hugs}}
Just doing my rounds and please accept my condolences.
My reading rate has drmamatically slowed down. Go get those books!
My condolences to you and your family Christy. I’m sorry you couldn’t be there when he passed, but on the other hand he got to have his last private moments with his wife. May he rest in peace.
Oh gosh, I’m so sorry to hear about your grandpa Christy. I lost mine two years ago and it was really hard to bear. Sending you condolences to you and your family. Great book haul as well!
I don’t know why I didn’t comment last week – I read the title of your post but I never went in and read it. Christy, I’m so sorry you lost your Grandpa the other week. I hope you’re feeling better, too. I’ve been hiding under a blanket all week, it’s your turn to get the blanket, it’s super soft!!!!! xoxoxoxo
First off, I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather. I was pretty close to my Grandpa before he passed. And it broke my heart when he passed. So my heart goes out to you. I hear ya about Edelweiss, I am so pissed about the new site. The old one was way easier to get around. The new one is such a pain.
You got Bad Romance!!! I’m really jealous.
I’m really sorry for your loss π
I’m sorry to hear about your grandpa, it sounded like you two had a very special bond.
