January was seriously … something else. The last two weeks have literally felt like years with all that’s going on in the world.
Anyway, I read 5 books in January. Four of the five get a lot of love from me. I’d have to say Infini and Eleventh Grave at Moonlight top the list for sure.
It’s Superbowl time! Neither one of the teams are mine, but I still love to watch. I’m rooting for Atlanta!
On a more personal note (I’m stingy with these): my grandparents spend the winters in Arizona, and my grandpa fell and had a silent heart attack while there. He’s doing better, but he’s still in the hospital and they want to do an angiogram Sunday morning (today). It’s extra worrisome because of his age. I would just feel better if they could come back and be treated by his doctors in Santa Barbara instead. So any good vibes sent this way (that way?) would be appreciated.
On the Blog
- Infini by K.B. Ritchie (review) – Loved it big time!
- By Your Side by Kasie West (review) – Not her best book.

For Review:
*happy dance* I’m so excited for Now I Rise!! The blurb for One of Us is Lying felt like a challenge, so I’m taking it – lol. I probably would’ve skipped Changes in Latitude had I not realized it’s by the same author who wrote Wanderlost. ♥
Alertalertalert!
Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes is $1.99 today! It’s the follow-up to You, one of the best books EVER!
Watching
Okay, I watched the first two episodes of Riverdale, but I’m not sure about it yet. It does get bonus points for making a Mildred Pierce reference and incorporating Josie and the Pussycats, though. I think it’ll be one of those shows where the more I watch, the harder it’ll be to quit.
Random
I know this is a 4th of July video, but it feels more relevant than ever right now.
Yeah Atlanta! Although I’ll be watching the commercials mostly and chowing lol. I watched the first Riverdale and thought it has potential- I’ll probably keep watching. And you got One of Us Is Lying!
Sorry t hear about your grandpa- definitely sending lots of vibes and best wishes his way and yours. Hoping for all the best.
Oh yikes! I don’t blame you for being worried about having your grandpa far away with a health scare like that.
I’m rooting for Atlanta, too, since my team didn’t come close this year.
Have a good week, Christy!
silent heart attacks are the worst! sending prayers your way! get well soon granpa
I’m not a football person, so I won’t be watching the Superbowl. I didn’t even realize it was Superbowl Sunday until you mentioned it lol.
I’m sorry to hear about your grandpa :-/ I’ve just sent some good vibes to both you and Arizona.
Enjoy the game, enjoy your books, and hopefully all will be well with your grandpa!
I’m sending good, healing, and strong vibes to your grandpa, and also to you and the rest of your family so hang in there!!
Ha! The blurb sounded like a challenge, that’s a good one. I can’t wait to see what you’ll think of it, Christy!
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.
So sorry to hear of your grandfather, Christy. I very much hope he is soon on the path to recovery.
I noticed you have recently reviewed The Operator – I hadn’t realised Kim Harrison had written another series. I’ve just read The Turn and recalled all over again what a cracking writer she is. I need to track down this series – thank you so much for sharing. Have a better week with MUCH better news! My Sunday Post – https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/02/05/sunday-post-5th-february-2017/
Go Atlanta over here. I am excited for the Superbowl and to see the half time show. Sending lots of good vibes over to you and your grandpa. I am hoping to get Changes in Latitude since I LOVED Wanderlost. I am holding off on Riverdale until I hear more. Have a great week!
I’m so sorry about your Grandpa……I’m in Arizona too only we live here year round
I’m rooting for Atlanta too, I can’t stand Tom Brady!!
Sending healing thoughts for your Grandpa!
Enjoy the Superbowl, I don’t watch as I am not a sports person. Poss-vibes sent to Arizona for your Grandpa. I hope he gets to come back home soon.
Enjoy your new reads and have a great week!

Sending all the positive thoughts to your grandpa, Christy.
I’m with you on these two weeks. It’s been hell. And jeez, I really hope we don’t have to deal with 4 years of this. >.<
Yay for getting Changes in Latitude! I loved Wanderlost!
I'm caught up on Riverdale too and I'm enjoying it, though I don't know if this is a show that will last more than a season tbh. What the heck did they do with Ms. Grundy??????
Praying for your grandpa AND you and your entire family. AZ doctors will take care of him, I’m sure this isn’t their first rodeo.
I actually picked up Changes in Latitudes because you liked Wanderlust so much!! I knew I had to give her try and I was so excited to see a new book by her!!!!!
“Try” and have a relaxing time watching the game tonight… please??? The world won’t fix itself in a day….
I am such a Patriots fan that I will have to forgive you for picking the wrong team. Its okay, we all make mistakes 😉
I will pray for your grandfather! That is scary! Hopefully he recovers quickly.
Have a great week and enjoy your books!
So, I’ve been hearing a lot about Riverdale and what I’m hearing is exactly your thoughts. 🙁 I’m checking out One of Us is Lying now, I’ve not heard of it, but the cover is interesting.
Oh no! I hope he recovers <3 All the positive thoughts and prayers sent to him!
January was definitely an extremely strange month for me :/
What exactly is Riverdale about? Is it worth it?
Sorry to hear about your grandpa. Sending prayers from MI. Blog looks colorful and beautiful.
Sorry to hear about your grandfather and my thoughts are with him!
I was disappointed by Hidden Bodies… particularly after You was so great!
Is Riverdale the show based on the Archie comics? I’ve seen some pics and no one looks like I expected them to!
Oh god, January felt like the longest month ever. It’s just crazy what is happening. That’s great you read some awesome reads though!! That’s always a plus.

Sending healing vibes and a safe trip back home for your grandpa.
I’m for Atlanta too. The closest we have to a pro team.
I am really sorry to hear about your Grandpa. I hope the procedure went well this morning and he is on the mend.
I am rooting for Atlanta as well…or I should say that I am really just cheering against the Patriots. I just don’t want them to win. Enjoy all of your new books!
Your grandpa is in my prayers. The past few weeks have been something. Hopefully clear heads and hearts will prevail. I am not really a football fan, so I didn’t watch the game.
I read four books in January. My goal for this month is five. I’ve already finished one, so I’m hoping! 🙂
So sorry to hear about your grandfather. That is distressing. Transporting him in a fragile state could be adverse, but I understand the need to want him back with his home doctors. I hope he is doing well and all will turn out right.
I’m sorry to hear about your grandpa Christy, I’m sending positive thoughts your way. I haven’t heard of Riverdale, shall check it out on Netflix!
I agree with you about January…years went by and yet they were over in the blink of an eye! It doesn’t bode well, does it? I’m sorry to hear about your grandpa and I’m absolutely sending good vibes HIS way and YOUR way!! <3 I'm happy you had a good reading month in January and it looks like February is stacked up to be pretty great too. I love the cover for Now I Rise!! Have a great week, Christy!
I couldn’t have put it better how the first weeks of January felt like! So sorry to hear about your dad! Glad to hear he’s doing better. Good luck with the angiogram today and I hope he fully recovers soon. Sending TONS of good vibes your way and looking forward to an update 🙂
your books are new to me, I hope you’ll enjoy them. happy reading!
I hope he will continue to do well.
Riverdale…I had not even heard of it, hmmm, dunno if it is for me
January did seem extra long, didn’t it? Admittedly, it always does, but this year even more so. I am sorry to hear about your grandfather’s heart attack, Christy. I am sending good vibes and thoughts his way–as well as yours. No Superbowl for us, although I did catch some of the commercials on FB. I hope you have a great week, Christy!
I hope that your grandpa makes a full recovery.
I don’t watch football but I think some of my neighbors did since I was hearing screaming last night.
I’m sorry to hear about your grandfather, Christy. He’ll be in my prayers and I hope he continues to get better. That’s scary.
I’m watching Riverdale too. I’m enjoying it and I agree that this is the kind of show that will be hard to quit the more you watch it.
Have a great week, Christy and happy reading! 🙂
I hear you. January was hell and I am so glad it is over, so far February hasn’t been better. I really want spring to come. I will send out good vibes for you Grandpa. I hope he is on his feet soon.
Sending good vibes to your grandpa. At least they have a large population of older folks so I’m guessing they are well aware of the problems that could develop. ((HUGS))
Looks like you got some good books and hope you have a better Feb!
Sending all the good vibes and healing wishes to your grandfather. I’m going to hug you now so just stand still and let it happen *HUGS* I’ve got the eps of Riverdale recorded but haven’t been in the mood to watch yet. Hope you have a better week 🙂
{{hugs}} to your grandfather. Hope things go well there. I was rooting for the Falcons too. As a Georgia girl, my father was a HUGE Falcons fan. He would roll over in his grave if I didn’t root for them. I was side with how it ended. Oh, well. Not surprised.
Oh man on the granddaddy. Hope things went well with the procedure and he’s feeling better. Very scary when not near your normal docs for sure.
Sorry to hear about your Grandfather, I hope he’s doing ok!
Enjoy your new reads girl!
