raft (noun): when two or more otters rest together,
often holding hands, so they don’t drift apartHollie Porter has put her old gig as a 911 operator and sad single girl in an attic-bound box, right where it belongs. She’s rebounded nicely from her run-in with Chloe the Cougar in the wilds of British Columbia, and this new life alongside concierge-in-shining-armor Ryan Fielding? Way more fun. After relocating to Ryan’s posh resort at Revelation Cove, Hollie embarks on an all-new adventure as the Cove’s wildlife experience educator, teaching guests and their kids about otters and orca and cougars, oh my.
When darling Ryan gets down on one NHL-damaged knee and pops the question of a lifetime, Hollie realizes this is where the real adventure begins. It’s all cake tasting, flower choosing, and dress fittings until a long-lost family member shows up at the Cove and threatens to hijack her shiny new life, forcing Hollie to redefine what family means to her. What is she willing to sacrifice to have one of her very own?
As Ryan’s words echo in her head—“Our raft, our rules”—Hollie has to face facts: a raft isn’t always tied together with blood and genetics. Sometimes it’s secured by love and loyalty… and occasional help from the clever creatures that call Revelation Cove home.
Hollie Porter Builds a Raft is so stinkin’ cute! Must Love Otters was one of my top reads of 2013, so I’m ashamed that it took me this long to read the sequel. It was so good, and I’m not surprised that it’s all kinds of adorable and full of laughs! It’s exactly what I needed, and now I feel like doodling hearts everywhere. 😀
It’s been a year since the events of the last book and life is great for Hollie. She’s in love, living in a beautiful place, and gets to work in nature with wildlife. Certainly a long way from when we first met her. But at a time she should be her happiest, it seems everything starts to stack against her.
I love Hollie so much! She’s such a wonderfully genuine protagonist that made me smile throughout the book with her humor and quirkiness. Her relationship with Ryan is everything! He’s seriously an amazing guy. He’s so supportive and always rolls with her antics, which often makes it even more entertaining.
It made me so dang happy to see how solid their relationship is no matter what’s thrown at them. And oh boy, is there ever plenty of chaos and misadventures! There definitely isn’t a shortage of humor, but there are some truly touching moments too.
The whole cast of characters are a delight, even when they drive poor Hollie up the wall. I love the connection she has with her dad, it’s so heartwarming that I just want to give him a big hug. And I’m not even a hugger.
This really is an all-around wonderful book that left me in a good mood. It ended on a very satisfying note, but I’m crossing my fingers that we’ll get more of Hollie Porter soon.
The first book is only $0.99! Read it!
I somehow missed these and I love books loaded with upbeat humor. Glad the sequel lived up to book one for you, Christy. I’ll have to add them. Oh, and sale on book one, nice!
This sounds adorable. Yeah I one-clicked that first book 🙂 Great review!
Well crap, I don’t know how I missed this, I loved Must Love Otters too when it came out and I have completely forgotten about it. I should pick this up. So glad it was every bit as much fun as the first one.
The first book is only $.99? SOLD!!! This sounds so adorable, and adorable is what I need in my life right now. I can’t wait to meet Hollie and Ryan and see what they get up to!
I love it when a sequel lives up to a reader’s expectations. You really have me wanting to read this now!
This sounds cute. I laughed when I read you felt like doodling hearts everywhere. lol
I hadn’t even heard of the first book! I’m going to have to check it out. I love humor in books. I especially love when couples stay strong through anything. It’s rarely done when it comes to a sequel so I’m always searching for books like this series. Great review!

I really liked the first one and I had no idea there was a sequel. I guess I better head over to Amazon and grab it for $.99. You know I could use more laughs.
Aww, this sounds like such a cute book. I already put it on my wishlist so I’m sure I’ll get around to buying it soon. Thanks for the lovely review, Christy! I really like the font you use for your comment section. So fancy!

This sounds like such a delightful book, Christy. It sounds like it hit just the right spot for you. I haven’t read this or Must Love Otters. Sounds like I should!
Awww i love books like this
Ooops I have Must Love Otters and haven’t read it yet and here you are gushing about the second book. *hangs head*
This really does sound adorable! I still haven’t started book one, but I have it and I’m bumping it up! I need a feel-good kind of read. 🙂
Oh it’s great that the sequel is that good too!
Oh I’m going to have to check out that first book and then get this one. This sounds like the kind of book I really enjoy. Brilly review!
I’m glad you loved this so much! It really must be adorable if it made you feel like doodling hearts 😛 And all the characters sound great and like so much fun!
YAAAAAS! This is exactly what I need right now Christy, something fun, funny with the warm and fuzzies. I love couples that are willing to tackle issues head on, rather than typical romances where there’s a massive break down in communications and the entire storyline is angst driven. This sounds totes adorbs and can’t resist a bargain. Awesome review! <3
Your review is just SO joyous and infectious! And this sounds utterly adorable! I”m guessing you can’t read this one without reading the first one?
I mean, you could, but you’d lose some of the context. And really, the first one is hilarious!
The titles for these books sound so fun! I’ll have to look up the first book. Hollie sounds like a fun characters to read about and that’s great she has a supportive guy. It’s great when a book can leave you in such a good mood.
AHAAA, that’s where this author is from! I knew I recognized her 🙂 I remember when EVERYONE loved Must Love Otters!!! As a matter of fact, I just went through your link and bought it. It’s not often I see you lovin’ on a “happy” book 😉 It must be good!!!
Yay, you finally read it!!! I agree it’s stinkin’ cute! I loved Hollie’s adventure in this one. 🙂
Gosh I’ve been hearing about Must Love Otters and I haven’t picked it up! Is it super feel good like how this one sounds?
It’s not like disgustingly sweet or a bunch of lame angst. It’s just a fun romantic comedy. I’m sure you’ll like them!
This does sound adorable. I might just get the first book.
Good to see you enjoy this sequel… and I love those annoying characters that drive you up the wall! ??
I love a romance read, that also has humor. Definitely want to check this one out!
