I can’t believe there’s only a couple months left in 2016. Crazy how fast the year has gone. I have a love-hate relationship with October. It’s my birthday month (last week), Halloween & all things spooky, and everything pumpkin. Buuut, the weather is cooler and it’s darker earlier. Blah. This is when I start the countdown to summer.
Reading has been a little bit of a struggle lately. I want to read, but I keep setting books aside after a few pages because I’m just not feeling them. I’ve had luck with a couple author’s who I can count on, though.

The new season of Drunk History started! This is the only show that makes me full-on laugh out loud. I can’t wait to see Lin-Manuel Miranda’s episode!
I know how you feel about not having a book catch your interest. When ever that happens for me I usually read a book by one of my favorite authors, or reread a favorite. Hope that you get back into your usual reading mood soon!
I’m not crazy about it getting darker earlier, that’s my thing. I don’t mind the cooling off and the spookier stuff, but I like the long days. 🙂 Yeah is it summer yet?
Hunted looks good, and Last Day on Mars? that one’s new to me, better check it out.
Happy birthday by the way!!
Happy birthday! It is crazy that there’s only a few months left in 2016 though. I’m already planning my end of the year posts lol. And I feel you about the reading struggle, I’ve been kinda in the same situation. The other night I started like 4 books before finally finding one that kept my interest.
Your review books look awesome! Except wait, we’re not allowed to call them that anymore 😉 Have a great week!
A busy month for you then Christy? I love winter (well, our Australian winters) so love it when it’s dark early etc… better for reading, but I can understand it wouldn’t be so nice if you’re not fond of winters or they’re harsh!
Happy reading this week
Oh Drunk History is so funny!! Hope you have more luck with books this week. I know how difficult it is when you hit a ‘meh’ slump!
I’m in a funk with reading, too! Granted, I have a ton of crap going on too so there’s that. And happy belated birthday!
I am having a problem with wanting to read to many books at once and so I can’t seem to choose what to read. I have like four or so books going. 🙁 I have a love/hate relationship with October too as I hate being cold and I don’t like it getting dark earlier either but I love Halloween and all things spooky too! 🙂
Have a great week!

Happy belated birthday! Hope you had a great week 😀 I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump too. I just can’t seem to find a book that grabs my attention…so I’ve resorted to rereading a favorite series. Now that I’m devouring 😉 Hope you have a great week and enjoy your new reads! Can’t wait to read Etched in Bone 😀
Sometimes a reading break is in order. Just find something else you like to do and before you know it, you’ll be back reading again. 🙂
Happy Birthday – I hope you had a good one. I love the beauty of the autumn colours, but hate the onset of the cooler weather and shorter, darker days. So far this autumn has been amazing, but I’ve a nasty feeling that winter will suddenly snap into being – and I LOATHE being cold. Hope you find something to inspire you to start reading again – it happens sometimes, doesn’t it? I’ll be interested to see how you get on with Iluminae. Have a good week:)
Drink history is funny. Yeah for Bishop and Robson. Gotta love our girl Taran. This year needs to slow down right after Clayton comes..lol
I tend to go through that kind of reading restless at the beginning of summer and it drives me crazy! Right now I’m struggling but it’s just because I’m tired. I’m hoping I’ll be back in a reading mood next week. Happy belated birthday! Have a great week!
Happy Birthday! I hope you had a good one:) I love the Halloween feel and fall colors but sure don’t look forward to the cold weather. Enjoy all of those wonderful new books!
Happy Birthday for last week!
I love autumn, it’s my favourite time of year because jumpers and sweaters are my best friends. Also from Scotland, so it’s always cold, but it’s allowed to wear big pullovers now 😉
Ugh, can relate. Was having a bit of that myself recently, tried a completely different genre to what I normally reach for and suddenly found a whole new love – definitely recommend this method to get over the book mehness
Etched in Bone!!!! I’m so jealous!!!
It was your birthday? Well I suck, happy belated!!!
The year is going by entirely too fast!! It is my birthday month too – Happy Birthday!!. I love this time of year but hate that it gets so dark so early. Hope you find books that you love soon. I am so excited for a new Kasie West. Have a great week!!
Hope you had a great birthday and pick up a great book!
Has Drunk History scheduled Miranda’s episode yet?!?!?! I must see that one!!!
I love your post title. Very, uh, direct and to the point. I might have to steal it in the future (no credit will be given, though) And I’ve been doing the same thing as you with reading, starting and stopping a ton of them. I JUST this weekend got back into the swing of things and read two entire books. They were cheesy YA romances but still….
Have a good week! pssst. your blog looks good, girl!
I know what you mean… I’ve pushed through a couple of books lately… But I’ve found some that I’ve enjoyed too!
I’d love to know what you think about Four Letter Word by J. Daniels… It sounded like fun!
You’ve picked up some awesome reads! Enjoy them all!
P.S. Sorry I’ve been MIA… I’m back!
I’ve never really watched Drunk History, but I AM really excited to see Lin-Manuel’s episode. Hope you can get back into reading more, but that’s good you can find some trusted authors to read.
-Lauren
Oh nice! I’m jealous I want the Bishop one! happy reading!
I am the same way about October…I love the holiday and the awesome emphasis on scary stuff, not to mention awesome movies…but the weather is not welcome at all. So far summer is attempting to hold on a bit by giving us a few warm days, but anything lower than 75 and I’m in sweaters and blankets.
I love Drunk History! I need to watch the episodes I’ve missed, I bet Lin-Manual’s episode is going to be great.
I’ll be stopping back around to read your Bright Smoke, Cold Fire review. Last Day On Mars looks interesting. I love fall, and like about he first month of winter, then I am over it. Ha ha. Have a wonderful week. 🙂
Happy belated birthday!!!
You’re already counting down to Summer? Seriously, move to Puerto Rico. You’ll have summer all year long haha
I’m so excited for Hunted and By Your Side! I hope I get approved for both.
Have a good week, Christy!
I’ve been like that with so many books lately too Christy. There seems to be an abundance of new releases during October, but very few have me excited. It’s been a bit of a year of over hyped, disappointing books for me sadly. The Last Day On Mars has caught my eye. I love survival type science fiction and interesting to see that it’s actually middle grade. I tried his other series about the lost city of Atlantis and unfortunately, it wasn’t all that great. really looking forward to seeing what you think of it.
Gosh dang it! I didn’t realize Last Day on Mars is MG, or else I wouldn’t have downloaded it. Sigh.
Yeah, I am starting the countdown to summer as well. I can’t stand these dark mornings and evening and this past weekend was terrible, the rain and the fog it looked like Winter. I have struggled to with reading. I am reading Cecy Robson right now and it is getting me out of my funk. You got the new Anne Bishop. Lucky!
Happy belated birthday!
This is my favorite time of year. The bugs aren’t out in force. I can have my door and windows open all night and not be hot. I can go outside without sunglasses because it’s usually overcast, cool and rainy. I love this time of year. lol
aww I love fall heh and everything about it. Plus it also means I get to see my husband more. I’m sorry you are ina rot. i know the feeling. I started reading backlist titles and I am okay with that I get to pick up books I always wanted to read and that really helped my rot
I am so jealous of everyone who got Etched in Bone. That series is way outside my comfort zone, but when I accidentally read the first one, I couldn’t stop.
I’ve had a few problems getting into books too. Must be the season. At least you had some luck. 🙂
Hope you had a great birthday!
I hate the time change that comes with this time of year, but I do like just about everything else about it. I hope you had a nice birthday! I hope you are able to find more books that interest you. I go through phases like that now and then where hardly anything catches my interest. Returning to a favorite series or author sometimes helps, as you mentioned.
I hope you are enjoying your week!
I actually like the cooler weather and pumpkin ofcourse ;). Sounds like you’re in a bit of a reading slump, I hope you can get out of it soon. I hope this will be a good week!
Aaaaand this is the type of weather I love! lol I understand the reading. I had two weeks were I struggled to finish a book a week :/ Usually I’m like 4-5 books. Ack! Hope the reading picks up on your end!
Happy belated Birthday. I love October! I love the weather. Though I do miss swimming.
Happy Birthday. I love October. I love Halloween and fall. I love the cooler weather. Summer is my least favorite (I’m not a fan of heat). I will say that I’m not a fan of the earlier evenings.
Sorry I haven’t been around much. I was on vacation and then just crazy busy. I hope that I’m back to normal now. 🙂 Have a great week.
