When Cooper McQueen wakes up from a night with a beautiful stranger, it's to discover he's been robbed. The only item stolen—a million-dollar bottle of bourbon. The thief, a mysterious woman named Paris, claims the bottle is rightfully hers. After all, the label itself says it's property of the Maddox family who owned and operated Red Thread Bourbon distillery since the last days of the Civil War until the company went out of business for reasons no one knows… No one except Paris.
In the small hours of a Louisville morning, Paris unspools the lurid tale of Tamara Maddox, heiress to the distillery that became an empire. But the family tree is rooted in tainted soil and has borne rotten fruit. Theirs is a legacy of wealth and power, but also of lies, secrets and sins of omission. The Maddoxes have bourbon in their blood—and blood in their bourbon. Why Paris wants the bottle of Red Thread remains a secret until the truth of her identity is at last revealed, and the century-old vengeance Tamara vowed against her family can finally be completed.
I did it! I finally read a Tiffany Reisz book, and what a wonderful experience it was!
When Cooper catches Paris stealing his rare million dollar bottle of bourbon, she claims it rightfully belongs to her. But how could the only remaining bottle of Red Thread bourbon belong to her when there isn’t anyone from the Maddox family left? Who exactly is Paris?
I was worried this would be a dull read, but that isn’t the case at all! The Bourbon Thief is a fascinating and haunting tale that’s full of manipulation, secrets, love and heartache. I was completely captivated by the incredible characters and stunning atmosphere from the very beginning.
Reisz did a superb job weaving this story through past and present while masterfully unfolding the mystery. It was near impossible to put this book down! It was intoxicating. I needed to know what would happen next and how it was all connected. It was difficult to let go of the characters in the end, but it was pulled together beautifully and left me thoroughly satisfied.
Overall, The Bourbon Thief is an impressive read that I couldn’t get enough of. I hope to read more of this author’s work soon!
I’m so, so happy you finally read your first Reisz book, Christy! Isn’t her writing just beautiful? Her characters are always so fleshed out they feel truly real to me, and that is another point in her favor.
Great review 🙂
I have this book on my TBR. I’ve asked my library to purchase the audio and I’m now just waiting for it to come in. I love Tiffany Reisz. I can’t wait to see what she writes outside of the Original Sinners world.
I have been meaning to pick up a Reisz book myself. Glad to hear this was a winner! Great review!
Ohhh…something to consider. I didn’t quite enjoy her Original Sinners series, so I’ve been wary since. I wouldn’t mind this one, though. It sounds suspenseful and oddly sexy! Lol.
New to me but great to hear it was a good mystery and kept your attention
This one has been skirting the edges of my TBR for far too long. It sounds amazing! I’m glad your first experience with Reisz lived up to the hype. I can’t wait to her books and this one in particular!
I felt the same when I read my first Tiffany Reisz story. Her writing so different from what I’ve experienced before.
I haven’t read anything by Reisz either and I have a couple of her books in my TBR pile. Time to dust those suckers off and give her a try. Thanks for the lovely review!

Well, hells bells, I’m sold, too!! haven’t read any of her books either. I shall remedy that 🙂 Stellar review, girl!
Hahah at first this sounds almost too simple for a plot, but I’m glad that wasn’t the case at all! Sounds like the mystery was much more complex!
Awesome review Christy!
