As a Part-time PI and fulltime grim reaper, Charley Davidson has asked a lot of questions throughout her life: Why can I see dead people? Who is the hot supernatural entity following me? How do I get gum out of my sister’s hair before she wakes up? But, “How do I trap not one malevolent god, but three?” was never among them. Until now. And since those gods are on earth to kill her daughter, she has little choice but to track them down, trap them, and cast them from this dimension.
There’s just one problem. One of the three stole her heart a very long time ago. Can the Razer, a god of absolute death and destruction, change his omniscient spots, or will his allegiances lie with his brothers?
Those are just a few of the questions Charley must answer, and quick. Add to that a homeless girl running for her life, an innocent man who’s been charged with murder, and a pendant made from god glass that has the entire supernatural world in an uproar, and Charley has her hands full. If she can manage to take care of the whole world-destroying-gods thing, we’re saved. If not, well…
Oh, how I love this series! Honestly, I always have this sliver of fear every time a new book is released. We’re up to ten books now, and I’m afraid that one of these times I’ll be severely disappointed or find that I’ve fallen out of love with the series. But nope, hasn’t happened. Not even close.
What I love:
♥ Charley. Duh. I love how silly and funny she is, plus has the biggest heart. Yet, she’s super fierce! Don’t not mess with those she loves … actually she’s pretty protective over strangers too. Anyway, she’s one badass chick. Also, I love how she holds most of her cards close to the vest. Just because it seems like she doesn’t know what’s going on at times, she’s clever and puts the pieces together, revealing them when the time is right.
♥ I really like how we’re still discovering more and more about who Charley really is and the overall storyline. Bombs continue to be dropped!
♥ Ah, Charley and Reyes. The chemistry … yowza! I have to say though, I wish the constant talk/thoughts about how sexy he is was cut back a little. It gets kind of old.
♥ I want to adopt all of the secondary character! Seriously, they are one of the best cast of characters there is. I definitely have a major soft spot (or two *wink*) for Osh. I desperately need him to devour some souls in the next book, because that shit is sexy as hell! Besides that, though, the loyalty runs deep with this group; so deep I get a little emotional at times because it’s so moving.
♥ There are always multiple storylines going on in each book. I’m glad she’s still doing her P.I. thing – life goes on – even though big changes are happening. But what’s cool, is each thread always weaves into the overall storyline in some way, no matter how minute. There’s a reason for everything.
♥ That ending …
Gahhh! I seriously need to just catch up on this series already! But 10 books! I’m scared!
I’m happy you’re still enjoying this series. Charley sure sounds like a riot!
I see this series all over all the time and you think I would finally start it. It is amazing it is still good after 10 books!!
Yeah I like Osh too, and will never get tired of these characters 🙂
Yes I couldn’t agree more Christy, especially about the characters, they are hands down my favorite part of this series and probably my favorite set of secondary characters out there. There is just nobody else like them in UF.
I love this series! This isn’t my favorite book, but I still liked it. Aren’t all the minor characters awesome?! And Osh is just so…… yummy. I keep picturing devouring souls. Charley makes it seem so hot! LOL
Great to hear still enjoying and that the cast of secondary characters are well done
This is like the 100000th review I’ve seen for this book and all are amazing. I definitely need to start this series!
Ten books and still loving the series?! That’s fantastic! I do love great characters, so I’m happy to hear you enjoy all the secondary ones.
Oh my gosh! I need to read this series!! Great freaking review!
Reyes needs to be real and I must have him
I can’t WAIT until they age the storyline so Osh can hook up with… DROP THE MIC!!!
Damn, how old do you want him to be? Sure, he looks about 19, but he’s centuries years old. That’s all good in my book. lol!
*sigh* Forget my previous reply. My reading comprehension is on the fritz – I need sleep. But I get what you’re saying now, and totally agree!
Ya know, when I first wrote that comment, I wrote that I wanted to age Osh… so it’s not you! I just hope we get to see the future 🙂 Yeah, you got what I was trying to say. I suck at words and English in general!!!
I am glad that you are still loving this series. I have got to get to it soon. Great review!
Sigh. I know right? I’m so excited to see if she’s going to write a spinoff or she’ll continue on with the series until Beep’s grown.
I’m almost positive she is. I mean, that’s the word on the street, anyway.
AH yes it was a great one again! I prefered it to the previous one! So good to find everyone once again!!!
I have that same fear with some of my favorite series that are long running. I don’t know how many more books are set for the Charley Davidson series, but I think she just signed a contract for another two or three books. I haven’t read this one yet. I’m waiting on the audio. I must have Lorelei King’s voice tell me this story. I hope to be tackling it very soon. 🙂
I’m with you. This series is just fantastic. And yeah that ending….
oh I have been really wanting to pick up this series pretty badly. Especially since Charley sounds like an amazing character!! 🙂 Glad you are enjoying this one so much.
OMG! I just finished 9th on audio and I cannot wait to get to this one. I’m so curious about that ending but nervous. Even if it isn’t a cliffie, it sounds like it will make me crave the next one immediately. 🙂
I’m really far behind in this series, but it’s good to see that it’s still going strong, Christy! I love the humor, too, Charlie is awesome 🙂
