Sunday Post #175 (5/15/16) – Alcohol Makes It All Better

Posted May 14, 2016 | 30 Comments

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

I’m exhausted. Why? It was a long week, and it ended with car shopping with my son. Now I’m drinking a Henry’s Hard Soda. Or three. I hate shopping for big purchases like this, but it’s done now. He has a new Jeep. Well, new to him anyway. lol. I’m just glad it’s over.

I read another 2.5 books for the #CleenSweepARC Challenge again this week. And one DNF, but that doesn’t count.

I keep smelling cookies baking. Maybe I’ve had too many drinks …

On the Blog

  • Fly With Me by Chanel Cleeton (review) – Many feels were had.
  • Before the Fall by Noah Hawley (review) – Satisfied my mystery craving.

Books Read

  • Fly With Me by Chanel Cleeton – Fighter pilots … mmmm.
  • The Princess & The Penis by R.J. Silver – Quick, silly, cute, & a little naughty.
  • With Malice by Eileen Cook – Really good!
  • The Last Star by Rick Yancey – Nice finale to the trilogy.

Books Acquired

For Review:

I’m excited for all of these.

Watching …

I’m caught up on the current season of Outlander now. I’m kind of pissed that I didn’t read the 2nd book before watching, but oh well. I’m still loving it.

Have a great week!

  1. Sorry you had to go shopping for a new car, you have definitely deserved the right to enjoy your drinks now! Hopefully, the jeep will do well for many years to come!!
I’m exhausted too – but for completely other reasons than you – the week was too much fun πŸ˜‰
Have a spectacular Sunday and a wonderful week ahead.

  2. Yay for the curative properties of alcohol! Boo for not actually having fresh-baked cookies, but only the smell of them. And I take it I should read the second book in the Outlander series, before seeing the second season? I’m almost done with book 1, but haven’t watched any of the show yet,

  3. I’m feeling like crap today Christy so read the title of this post and was like YES! I’m at my mother’s and think I need to go out and buy a nice bottle of red wine to have with dinner. Am crampy (TOM) and grumpy, so I surely deserve it!

Car shopping ‘can’ be exciting but I agree, buying big stuff like that’s also stressful!

  4. Alcohol and cookies – great cure all for car shopping blues!
I haven’t watched any of Outlander – I prefer to read the book first and need to get around to it.
    Have a great week :0)

  5. Alcohol makes everything better lol. I heard With Malice was good, I think I looked that one up (has a cool cover?) but I don’t remember the blurb. Anyway glad it was good. Haven’t seen Outlander but just started Penny Dreadful- that show is a trip.

  6. Now I WANT cookies haha! I’m glad car shopping is over and that you don’t have to worry about that.
I’m very excited to read Cream of the Crop. I accidentally downloaded It Ends With Us – I didn’t realize the cover was a widget oops! I’m not even sure if I want to read it because it’s not my typical sort of read, but might as well give it a try.
I love the cover for Bright Smoke Cold Fire, but I’m waiting to see what others (YOU) think of it.
Anyways, I hope you have a lovely week, Christy and happy reading!

  7. Haha this wins most entertaining Sunday Post of the night πŸ˜› Maybe the universe or your subconscious is just trying to tell you that you need to make some cookies? In order to truly destress you need the trifecta of books, alcohol, AND cookies πŸ˜‰

I considered requesting Bright Smoke, Cold Fire, but I’m just not sure it’d be quite for me. Gorgeous cover though!

  8. Haha with your title of this post. So true. Now I want cookies. . . So glad to see you liked With Malice. I just got it on EW. It Ends With Us looks so pretty. Can’t wait to read it!! Ugh I need to read Outlander. I refuse to watch the show until I read them. So it may be a while. Have a great week!

  9. Big purchases like that hurt everyone haha I totally keep forgetting to update my post of the Clean Sweep ARC challenge! I just updated it because you reminded me haha
I cannot wait to start It Ends with Us!!!! I’ve heard it’s very different from her other books and more personal.
    Enjoy your week Christy!

  10. Shopping for big purchases is always a bit stressing, but it’s good when it;’s finally over. I also had a DNF this week sadly :(. I heard so many good things about Fly with Me, it’s on my to-read list now as it sounds like one I would enjoy enjoy. I hope you’ll have a great week!

  11. Ouch! No wonder you’re feeling a tad frayed around the edges… Yes – I hate shopping for the big stuff, as well. In fact, I mostly hate shopping unless it’s for books… Glad you’ve had a good reading week – we need to get hold of a Firestick to be able to watch Outlander on TV – I refuse to watch stuff on my small computer screen when I work on it every day. I did read the first book, but didn’t get around to the rest of the series… Hope next week is less draining!

  12. Buying a vehicle is so stressful as it is. Most people I know always feel like they get screwed over. I think you are welcome to enjoy your adult beverages! πŸ™‚ Glad you’ve had a good reading week! I’m hoping these next two weeks are good for me, too.

  13. The Last Star and Cream of the Crop are on my 2016 Must-Read list. I hope they’re good! Car shopping can be stressful, but at least your son got a nice ride. Thanks for your Outlander video! I completely forgot I didn’t watch last night’s episode. I’ve been so busy catching up on the tv I don’t watch during the week.
