Haaaappy Mother’s Day!
We had a storm blow in with some flash flooding this week, which was nice. Not necessarily the flooding, but the storm. It’s supposed to go back up to the 90’s next week, though.
I’m doing okay with the #CleanSweepARC Challenge. I’ve read 2.5 books so far, but need to step up my game.
Hope all of you who are going to BEA have fun! I’ll be … somewhere else. Or maybe I’ll be there, right next to you, and you’d never know. Bwahahaha!
On the Blog
- Admiral by Sean Danker (review) – An exciting sci-fi thriller that isn’t too heavy on the sci-fi.
- Morning Star by Pierce Brown (review) – Oh boyo! Freaking loved it!
Books Read
- Before the Fall by Noah Hawley – Pretty good mystery.
- Wanderlost by Jen Malone – So stinkin’ adorable!
Books Acquired
For Review:
Ugh, my calendar is already filling up with fall releases. Trying to be super selective, though.
Purchased:
All price drops, baby! I already read and LOVED Brother, but I only had the ARC copy, so I snagged a finished ecopy while it’s only $1.99.
Watching
Haha – A new Epic Rap Battle featuring Tolkien and Martin.
Have a great week!
Happy Mother’s Day! I’m trying to be really selective about adding more ARCs to my pile- I’m still a few books away from finishing up April, hence so many double reviews lately.
-Lauren
Ooh 90’s- it’s not that warm here. That’s a little too hot. Admiral looks good, I’ve seen a few reviews for that now and they were all good. May be adding that one. And I’m definitely interested in the new Lauren Oliver one- love the sound of it. Diplomatic Immunity has a good cover.
Happy Mother’s Day!!! I’m sure there are some readers thinking, “Who’s that crazy lady talking about wire hangers?” I freakin’ remember when that movie came out!!! Grrrrrrrr, *bones cracking*, grrrrrrrr
I’m slumping hard again. I need to DNF some stuff and ignore publicist emails that say, “thanks for downloading our title, now where’s our review?” UGH….
Oh, and Tolkien won. All day long. GRRM can’t finish writing a book before he starts a new project or something bright and shiny catches his attention.
Grrrrrrrrr….
The fact that you know that makes me heart you even more. I’d call my mom ‘Mommy Dearest’ growing up when she’d make me do something or I was being a snot. lol.
Happy mother’s day,Christy! I wish you’d be right there next to me at BEA, I’m sure we’d have a lot of fun together.
Have a wonerful week and happy reading.
Is that Mommy Dearest? Wire hangers, lol Anyway. I am so excite for Three Dark Crowns. Hmm, floods, no fun.
Oh Christy – methinks you’re off to BEA. I wish I was and have blogger-catch-up envy! I hope the weather still clear for you this next week. (And warms up!)
That rap battle is perfection. <3
Happy Mother's day! It's been in the low 70's here…everyone loves it, but anytime the wind picks up and clutch my jacket a bit tighter. I hope you have a good time going…where ever it is you're going, lol!
I had to check the weather here to see if it was similar. Sure enough. Rain this week and high 80’s and into the 90’s coming up. Crazy. It’s no wonder everyone allergies are playing havoc with them. Admiral is one I hope to read soon-ish. Before the Fall also appeals to me. I hope you have a great week!
I am now obsessed with that video. And yep, Tolkien FTW.
Tolkien for the win!
Happy Mother’s Day!!
Ow.. I love Lauren Oliver. I didn’t even know she had a new book!! I’ll definitely need to check that one out.
Is wish I could go to BEA!! It sounds like a lot of fun!
Have a great week and Happy Reading!!
Happy Mother’s Day! Hope you enjoy all your new books. I am super excited for Replica. Have a great week!!
Have a great week!!! Happy mothers day! Good luck with the ARCs. I read 3 on my ARC challenge this week.
I heard about some and I hope you’ll enjoy them. happy reading!
I got Replica too. I wasn’t sure about Brodi Ashton’s new book though. So you’ll have to let me know about that one! I’m so glad you enjoyed Wanderlost. I need to read that soon. Happy Mothers Day and Happy Reading! 🙂
Happy Mother’s Day! It’s not quite 90 here yet and I am not sure if I am really ready for it. Although, I would much rather be hot than cold so I am ready for summer. I loved Brother and grabbed a copy when it was on sale the last time. Enjoy all of your new books!
Happy Mother’s Day! I can still hear Faye Dunaway’s voice screeching “no wire hangers…ever!” I have that movie…maybe I should watch it later today.
It’s 53 degrees right now (at 8:28 a.m.); it’s supposed to rise to 70. I’ll be having brunch at the lake with my daughter and her fiance.
I am envious of the BEA people…when the event moves closer to the West Coast, I’ll be there! (I hate flying!).
Enjoy your week…and my post is on my Curl up and Read blog. (I didn’t “pass” the URL test…too many, it said, lol).
Happy Mother’s Day Christy!
I’m always slightly jealous around this time of year when everyone heads of to BEA and I always promise to myself that ‘next’ year will be the year i go! *cries*
Boo on the flooding. We’ve had rain, rain, rain. At least it hasn’t been too humid. We’re supposed to get to the upper 80s next week though. I’m beginning to think we’re all in some Twilight Zone episode.
I hope you have a fantastic week! 🙂
Oh Mommy Dearest. Classic. Lol. I hope you’re having a great day, mama. 😉
So I added, The Fall Up and Love Her Madly to my Goodreads! Have a wonderful week, Christy!
Liking the look of some of your new books, Christy. It’s around 80 here and low humidity so I’m enjoying it begore it gets blistering hot. Happy Mother’s Day!
Hope you enjoyed your Mother’s Day – we had ours back in March:). It looks like it’s been a great week for you and I enjoyed reading your review of Morning Star – it’s been a fab series and one of my reading highlights of the year so far. We’ve finally had some warm weather this week, though nothing like your heat so winter finally feels over! Have a good reading week.
That movie is a classic! We had thunder storms here all weekend too and they were pretty cool. 😉
Happy Mother’s Day!
We are about to deal with another round of stormy weather here. I am actually getting tired of it!
Great book haul this week. Hope you enjoy them all!
We also had a storm blow in. It sprinkled on and off on us at the park Sunday. It was nice and I think we are getting a little bit more, but then it will be hot and humid as Hades.
We had a storm too! Fair chance it’s not the same one! 😉
Fair chance I’ll be somewhere else too…. not BEA! I wish!
Picked up a few nice reads there… enjoy!
I hope you had a wonderful mother’s day Christy! I’ve been hopelessly stalking all the BEA tweets, I can’t believe it’s over already!
