Sunday Post #168 (3/27/16) – California Freak

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

The first day of spring was last week, even though it’s felt like it for awhile now. Temps in the 70s and high 60s … no complaining from me.

I was pulling a Joe a couple days ago and stalked Caroline Kepnes on Twitter to see if there would be another book in the You series. Looks like there will be more Joe …

On the Blog

  • The Visitor by Amanda Stevens (review) – Worth the long-ass wait.
  • The Offer by Karina Halle (review) – Halle never disappoints.

Books Read

  • Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry
  • A Walk in the Sun by Michelle Zink
  • The Study of Seduction by Sabrina Jefferies

Books Acquired

For Review:

A surprise in the mail. I still need to read the first two books.

I grabbed The Wrath & The Dawn since it’s on sale for $2.99. And I had a $20 coupon for Audible, so I bought Blood Bound even though I haven’t listened to the 1st book yet.

Sad Affleck. Ben’s reaction to bad reviews. This is dumb, but it made me laugh, especially the very end.

” … come to California be a freak like me … “

Have a great week!

  1. I’ll take 70’s… sounds good right about now. Battlestorm looks good. Norse gods? Sign me up. πŸ™‚ And Blood Bound- I think I’m going to start Mercy thompson in the next few weeks so hopefully I’ll like those.

  2. Yay for spring! I’m glad I’m not the only one who stalks people on twitter for these things πŸ˜‰

I hope you enjoy Patricia Briggs! I think I’ve read the first 5 books in that series and I did really enjoy them. The wrath and the dawn is so beautiful. I really need to get a copy as well πŸ™‚

  3. That Sad Affleck video made me laugh so hard when I saw it. It’s the combination of the music and the expression. I just want to give him a hug. πŸ˜›
More Joe? That’s interesting! I hope she doesn’t drag the series too long though because of its popularity. It could get old very fast.
Happy reading and have a great week!

  4. I completely forgot that it was the first day of spring! It has also been feeling a lot like spring (more like summer where I am), and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet (my favorite season is winter). I have The Wrath and the Dawn on my bookshelf, but I still haven’t read it yet. I hope that you like it when you read it! Have a great week!

  5. Mercy Thompson gets soooo good! You will like where that series goes.

Y’all are a bunch of freaks out there… that’s why I had to run home. Your driving scares me (HA!). Actually, I think Lana broke that poor dude…. he was freaking just fine until she had to go and add artificial ingredients. Keep it natural, folks πŸ˜‰

  6. Yay for more Joe! I didn’t feel like things ended with Hidden Bodies so this is a good thing. I grabbed The Wrath and the Dawn when it was on sale this week as well. I hope you love it. Oh….I am a bit jealous of your audible coupon. I am just thinking of all the ways that I could spend $20 on that site. πŸ™‚ Have a great week, Christy!

  7. I hope to read You very soon. Enjoy your books! Ben shouldn’t even be sad really, because I think the movie was fairly good. I think Batman fans didn’t like his character change because he was sorta anti-heroish in the beginning. I can’t wait for Justice League.

  8. I haven’t seen the new Batman/Superman film mainly because I am more of a Marvel girl but Ben Affleck as handsome as he is, is not Batman in my eyes.

It is in the nice and warm 40’s here in Scotland and peeing down with rain. I am count down the days till I fly to Orlando (lots of days, like 180) and I can bask in the warm sunshine!

    Have a great week!

  9. The sad Affleck makes me giggle! Love it! You read The Study of Seduction! I meant to read it this week but then other stuff came up and now it’s just there tempting me. I love Sabrina Jeffries. I was on the fence about You when it first came out but I’m now so on board. I have no idea why it’s taken me so long to read it.

  10. Still haven’t read You by Kepnes. Sigh. I really should. Anyway, big dumping of snow on Thursday night over here, so Spring looks like it’s been delayed yet again.

    happy reading!

  11. More Joe? Love it!

Wait, you haven’t started the Mercy series yet? Why did I think you had? I’m only on book five or four I think so let me know when you get caught up and we can read again. It is one series I want to get caught up on this summer. I love her other series too which takes place in the same world with some of the same characters, Alpha & Omega.

  12. I must admit I never heard about the You series before. But I checked out your link and it sounds like a great book. I’ll definitely put it on my TBR.

Spring definitely needs a little more help here.. but I hope it will get better soon. Today the sun is shining here but there is a lot of wind. So much wind they are telling people with trailers to don’t go on the road. So there’s not really much of enjoying the weather unfortunately.

Have a great week and Happy Reading! πŸ˜‰

  13. The weather has been nice here too, not too warm, but lots of sun. Although we still get some rain and wind too now and then. I hope you’ll enjoy The Wrath and the Dawn I’ve heard some great things about the setting in the book. I hope you’ll have a great week!

It feels like spring here, at over 20C and sunny. I love the cover of Battlestorm. I haven’t started Patricia Brigg’s books outside of a prequel graphic novel she did because I can’t find the first book in the series at the library. I loved the Lana Del Rey clip. Have a good week.
