Sunday Post #167 (3/20/16) – Mother, What Have You Done?

Posted March 19, 2016 | 34 Comments

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

I survived St. Patrick’s Day! Everyone else is okay too. It was definitely the worst day out of the week, though. The rest were just hunky dory with plenty of sunshine.

I had problems getting on a few blogs last week and I don’t know why. It kept saying there was a server error when I’d try to visit certain blogs, but things seem to be going smooth now.

I signed up for the Clean Sweep ARC Challenge that’s hosted by Kim & Kristin in May. I always participate in this one and the TBR Challenge. However, I totally spaced on the TBR Challenge this month. I saw the posts for it and Kim talking about it, but my mind was too scattered. Bummer. I won’t miss the ARC Challenge, though.

On the Blog

  • Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews (review) – Can’t get enough of these characters!

Books Read

  • The Dirty Secret by Kira A. Gold – It was alright.
  • Waylaid by Kim Harrison – A fun and super quick read.

Books Acquired

For Review:

Test Drive is a spin-off series of The McCauley Brothers, which I loved. The other two look interesting. Dream House was a surprise in the mail and came with candy that I immediately ate. Eating candy that comes in the mail from strangers! YOLO! ๐Ÿ˜€ If I die, blame Atria publishing.

Got Moon Called on audio and will finally listen to it. The last two were freebies.

We’re a couple episodes into the 4th season of Bates Motel and it’s so good! I love the twists and how everything has played out throughout the previous seasons. Craz-y!

Love me some Demi.

Have a great week!

  1. St. Patty’s Day was windy and cool here, but a good day otherwise. I’ve been thinking of Moon Called too, might start that series soon.

That Demi Lovato song is a good one.

  2. No worries! I completely blanked on my last BINGO card. It was pitiful. I am challenged-out, but working my tail off on books! Kind of the “shoot first, ask later” kind of thing – “read, read, read, sort out challenges later.” Happy reading!

  3. The cover on that Marie Harte cover though! *-* I want it just for that!
Haha to eating the random candy in a book package! I hope it was good candy.
I hope you enjoy all these books this week!
    Happy reading!

I got Dream House this week, too! I was quite surprised. It looks like it might be a really good read. I don’t usually do mystery/suspense/thriller books, but I’m intrigued by this one. And the package with all the blue things was super cute, too.

I hope you enjoy it and the others!

  5. Oh, what happened on St Patrick’s Day that made it a relief you survived it? I hope all is okay.

More good books as usual and Bates Motel looks interesting. It’s not on free-to-air here in Australia so not sure if / when I’ll see it, but I hope to, as long as it’s not too TOO creepy!

There’s been terrible incidents in my family (some deadly) on various St. Patrick’s Days over the past few decades. So it’s nice when nothing happens.

  6. I love St. Patrick’s Day. Okay…really I just love corned beef & cabbage but I always make sure to have some on hand for St. Patrick’s Day. This year it was too busy to have much fun but I still ate well. By the way, I would totally eat candy from strangers in the mail. I would do it quickly before anyone else in the house saw and I would have to share. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!

  7. I love participating in challenges, but sometimes, I tend to kind of gloss over some of them as well… I have two books I should read in March for the HW challenge, so we’ll see how that goes.
Your new books look great, Christy, I need to check out the freebie audios… even if I have a ton of audios I haven’t listened to yet.
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

Oooh I don’t remember which day. That would’ve been funny if that’s how I died on St. Patrick’s day .. poisoned candy from strangers.

  8. I’m doing the TBR challenge but am not doing it very well. This month has kicked my booty! I loved Moon Called and that entire series. Somehow I got behind in a book though, and need to catch up ASAP! ๐Ÿ˜€ Enjoy your new books and happy reading!

  9. I hope you enjoy Moon Called. I thought you had read that series? You survived St. Paddy’s day, hooray for you. We had a quiet day, no partying for us now that we have kids. Boring, right? Eating candy from strangers, haven’t you learned anything from Joe?

  10. Looks like you have some great new books. Love the look of the cover of โ€˜Test Driveโ€™! Sighโ€ฆ
I havenโ€™t heard about Bates Motel before. Sounds interesting.
Have a great week and Happy Reading! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  11. We skipped St Patrick’s Day this year because it just wasn’t going to happen but I’m going to do a do over sometime next week because I love the St. Patrick’s Day food! It’s fun to celebrate my Irish ancestry. Hope all is okay with you! You got some fantastic books! I’m curious about Dream House – especially since it came with candy! Have a great week!

  12. Sorry your St. Patty’s Day was no good! I’ve never actually celebrated, so mine just went by uneventfully like every other day lol.

I am loving the red and black on that Alpha cover! I don’t even know what it’s about, but I want it! (Ok I just read the blurb lol, and it is a pretty interesting premise. I’m curious now…)

  13. Glad you survived Thursday. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I missed the TBR challenge too because I just knew I would suck it. ๐Ÿ™ Maybe I should push myself and do the ARC? I only have a couple to read so it can’t be that bad right?

  14. I’ve never heard of the Bates Motel series, but assuming it’s a spin off from the Psycho movie? I don’t think it screens here in Australia so will have to try to hunt it down. Good luck with the challenge! I need to sign up to clean mine out too. Might give me the motivation to read more ARC editions I’ve got on my Kindle and shelves without skipping them and reading more new releases. Have a fabulous week of reading Christy <3

  15. HaHa I got hershey kisses in the mail with an ARC. I don’t know if I ate them or not. LoL I’m still alive though so if I did, it wasn’t poisoned.

We celebrate St. Pat’s here in a different way from most people. We don’t get drunk and drink green drinks. It’s pretty much an Irish Thanksgiving where we make a bunch of Irish food and desserts and we stuff ourselves silly. I’m hoping to finish off the last of the leftovers tonight. >.< LoL
