Our favorite zombie Angel Crawford has come a long way from her days as a pain-pill-addicted high school dropout with a felony record. After a year highlighted by murder, kidnapping, and the loss of her home, all she wants to do is kick back, relax, and maybe even think about college.
But when key members of the “Zombie Mafia” go missing, she has no choice but to get involved. Angel is certain Saberton Corporation is behind the disappearances, yet she can’t shake the sense that a far deeper conspiracy is at work. With the small band of friends she can trust, Angel strikes out to track down the missing zombies.
But when unexpected danger threatens to destroy her, all the brains and bravado in the world may not be enough to keep her from going to pieces.
Holy moly, how I love this series! How The White Trash Zombie Got Her Groove Back didn’t disappoint. It had everything I love about the series and was completely engaging.
Angel goes to the big city! Yep, our girl ends up in New York, and her reactions to certain things (the subway) are quite entertaining. It’s not all fun and games though. Some serious shit is going down with the Saberton Corporation, and loyalties are tested. It’s exciting with plenty of action. We also makes some pretty important discoveries about how the zombie parasite works and what is possible. Very interesting, indeed.
Angel is absolutely one of my favorite heroines. She’s constantly evolving and growing as a person, bettering herself. Angel is just easy to love. Best of all, the abundance of snark. This chick is funny! I always get a kick out of people underestimating her. Luckily, though, she has an amazing group of people around her that helps build her up. I have to say, I’m a bit worried about what’s instore for Angel in the next installment. Stay strong, Angel!
The cast of secondary characters kick ass. There are a lot of them, but each one brings a lot to the story. I love all the different dynamics Angel has with them, and how their relationships evolve too. Seeing how far Angel and her dad have come makes me smile. Seriously, these characters rock!
I’ve continued to listen to the audiobooks in this series, and can’t imagine it any other way. Allison McLemore does a phenomenal job narrating and truly brings the characters to life, so I highly suggest going this route.
Four books in, and the series is still going strong. I can’t wait to listen to the next installment!
it’s great that it’s still going strong like that! I’m a bit late because I have the first one for years but haven’t read it. One day!!!
Great review, Christy! I just started My Life As a White Trash Zombie on audiobook yesterday and I am loving it. I am happy to know that the series stays strong. The narrator is amazing. Angel is such a great character.
Yay! Glad you’re enjoying it.
Yup, another great series that I haven’t tried. I’m such an L*ser hehehe
Kim loves this series so I’ve been wanting to try it too. I love how the MC is a girl who is constantly evolves and grows. And all the secondary characters sound amazing! I need to pick this up sooner rather than later.
Fabulous review, Christy!
I think this is the one zombie series that will really work for me Christy! Mostly because of Angel and her snark:) Normally zombies terrify me and I want nothing to do with their stories, but all the humor in this one makes it much more palatable. I need to give the first book a try!
You will love this series, Jenny. It isn’t like the zombies you’re used to. And you’ll definitely fall for Angel.
I seen this book on someone else’s blog. I believe it was the first book but I didn’t pay it much mind. I think I might actually read this one. It just sounds so fun!
One of these days I’m going to start this series. 😀
I don’t know why I haven’t gotten the first book yet, I so need to! It sounds like a fun series. Maybe this fall I will finally grab it and start it.
I think you can just copy your reviews for this series at this point, girl. I mean, do you really have to write anything new for an awesome series that has the most appropriately perfect narrator? Nah… Allison rocks! Oh, and of course Diana, too, DUH!!
Great review, seriously…
Ha! For real. I’ve actually thought about that. Like, without spoilers, am I really saying anything new?
This was a good one. I love this series too, and now I am all caught up and hoping for more!!
I have this one and it is coming up on my listen list soon. I am glad to see you enjoyed it. I know some readers struggled with the fourth book.
I can’t wait for more 😀
I’m just a bit into the audio and I had to set it aside for other reviews. I did like her narration and want to continue the series on audio now. I’m glad you loved this one and I can’t wait to get to it.
This is just another series that I’ve always wanted to check out. It sounds like a ton of fun! And btw, I just finished reading Hounded by Kevin Hearne thanks to you! Loved it! I can’t wait to read the next one. 😀
Omg, I’m so glad you’re reading The Iron Druid series! I LOVE Atticus. The audio for that series is fan-freaking-tastic! Luke does an AMAZING job. I hope you read this one soon too.
I got the first book as an e-book in a swap recently, so I really need to start reading. Glad you’re loving this series!!

This is one of my favorite audiobook series. Great review.
Oh man, I’ve read the first 3 books but this one wasn’t available at the library. I can definitely see how it would be lots of fun! I love this girl and her snark.
Great to hear that it was engaging and that you enjoyed
The covers for these books are freaky cool! I think I’ll just read the first book to see if I like it. Great review!
I am glad to hear this series continues to be good. I haven’t read this series yet, but the first book is on my to-read list. And I have read the first 5 or so books in her other series, which I enjoyed so far. It’s nice you leanr more about how the zombie parasite works in this one. Angel and the other side characters sound great and I can’t wait to meet them! Great review!
This is another series I haven’t started, but that is on my TBR shelf. I am not a huge zombie fan, but these sound like there’s a lot of humour, plus there is a lot going on. Maybe one day, Christy.
I hope you’re feeling better! I keep sending you good thoughts 🙂
Have a terrific Thursday and happy reading.
I’ve been seeing this audiobook series around EVERYWHERE!! I actually just recently added the first book to my wishlist because I really NEED to read this!! It sounds like so much fun!!! 🙂 Great review, sweets! ♥
I finally read a zombie one! Maybe I’ll tackle this series next on audio since I’ve been hearing many great things about it. I love kick ass characters.
I’ve been dying to read this series! (And no, I really didn’t mean to make a pun lol.) I don’t generally listen to audiobooks, but I heard a sample for the first book in this series, and I think it might be a good book to try audiobooks again with. It’s good to know the series is still going strong in the fourth book though. I’ll have to get around to this soon!
Maybe now that I’m doing the dreaded walking every day (it’s hell!) I’ll pick up the audio of these and give them a go. They might make it a wee bit more tolerable. lol
I know! I need to read this series! Angel sounds like a hoot to read about!
