Sunday Post #161 (2/7/16) – Racking Up the Audiobook Hours

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Still sick-ish. My lungs aren’t as bad. I still didn’t feel like doing much blogging though. I’m kind of excited for next week because we should have record setting temps in the 70’s. Wheee!

I started listening to audiobooks a lot more in 2015, and this week I reached the ‘Professional’ level on Audible. Only 137 hours left to reach ‘Scholar’. lol

I saw the article ‘Walking Dead’ Producer Adapting ‘Pendergast’ Novels for Spike TV this week, and have to say, I’m looking forward to it. I’ve only read Relic years ago, but liked it. So now I want to do a re-read and continue the series.

On the Blog

Books Read

How the White Trash Zombie Got Her Groove Back by Diana Rowland – audio

The Mistake by Elle Kennedy

Books Acquired

For Review:

I’m so excited for another Hundred Oaks book!

I read this back when it came out, before it was known who Hill’s daddy is. I don’t remember many details, but I know I loved it. So I had to grab it for $1.99 and hopefully read it again.

Okay, so technically I haven’t watched the Me Before You trailer yet because I want to read the book first. I’m doing that now. I knew what the book was about before I started, but movie trailers give too much away. So I’ll watch it when I finish the book.

Have a great week!

  1. I would love to hit 70’s- it’s been cold here and I’m over it. πŸ™‚ Hope you’re feeling better this week.

I watched the trailer and it looks pretty good. I didn’t know what it was about either- haven’t read the book. It has a good cast…

    Have a great week Christy!

  2. Ooh Defending Taylor! Did you get that one from NetGalley or Edelweiss?
I’m glad to hear that the weather is going to be a little better. Hopefully, that will help the sickness leave your body entirely.
Have a lovely week and happy reading! πŸ™‚

  3. I haven’t read Me Before You and am not sure I will… but I LOVED the trailer. So so so sad.

And I’m yet to listen to an audio book though recently received a sample. I’m leaving it to listen to on a lengthy drive I have to do in a week or so.

  4. Ah, sorry you’re still not that well, take care ! And read good books to help you cure πŸ™‚ I usually watch the movies before I read the books – the books leave more room for imagination and I’m very often disappointed by how it was adapted on the screen :/ I learned about Joe Hill only after I finished reading the Locke & Key comics. Have a better week πŸ˜‰

  5. I loved White Trash Zombie series on audio. Sounds like you’ve listened to a lot. I love Joe Hill. I haven’t listened to Heart Shape Box yet, but it is on my wishlist. I listened to NOS4A2 last year. I really loved it. I don’t think I knew who his father was when I started, but someone told me before I finished the book. I can see his father’s influence, even though he is his own writer.

  6. Feel better! I know at work (I work at a preschool/daycare) all my kiddos are sick or com gin down with something and likewise with the teachers!

AS to it being 70 degrees….wow! We almost hit sixty last week and then the next day we had a snowstorm and snow days lol Supposedly tomorrow into Tuesday we are also getting another 7+ inches! I am both excited and sad.

On a side note, if you don’t mind me asking, what was the first audiobook you go into? I have tried and tried and I really want to like audiobooks but I have always found myself 20 or so minutes into the book and I have absolutely no idea what is going on! lol

    Happy Sunday!

Thanks! Yeah, working with kids is a health hazard. lol

Well, I’ve listened to a few audiobooks over the years, but it was always hard for me to pay attention. It wasn’t until I listened to Hexed by Kevin Hearne that was narrated by Luke Daniels that I fell in love. I read the first book, but after listening to the 2nd, I couldn’t imagine going back to reading them. I’m super picky about the narrator, and I found that urban fantasy is the genre I prefer on audio. Also, I have to listen at at least 1.5x speed, because it helps me focus on it more.

  7. Would you believe I haven’t read Me Before You yet? I definitely need to fix that. I didn’t realize there were audible levels. I’d end up getting weirdly competitive with myself to get to the next one. I do want to read Joe Hill. I’ve heard good things about his books. Hope you get to feeling better and have a great week!

  8. You read The Mistake!!!! YAY!! When my two boys were REALLY down and I couldn’t move from the couch myself, I pulled up The Deal & The Mistake and re-read those and then read The Score all in ONE day!!! I’m reviewing all three this or next week. It is so hard to actually sit and write posts when you’re sick, though – I agree with you! I’ve just been reading and writing notes for days.

I actually WANT to read Me Before You!!! It’s such an adult book, too! Like, you have to go to the adult section of the library to get it. I did NOT watch the trailer. I’ve done the same thing with The Martian all this time, too.

I actually REMEMBER you liking Heart Shaped Box!!! Yes, I really do!! Man, we’ve been doing for a long time…..
