Thomas Bellweather hasn’t been in town long. Just long enough for his newlywed mother to be murdered, and for his new stepdad’s cop colleagues to decide Thomas is the primary suspect.
Not that there’s any evidence. But before Thomas got to Garretts Mill there had just been one other murder in twenty years.
The only person who believes him is Charlotte Rooker, little sister to three cops and, with her soft hands and sweet curves, straight-up dangerous to Thomas. Her best friend was the other murder vic. And she’d like a couple answers.
Answers that could get them both killed, and reveal a truth Thomas would die to keep hidden…
This is a quickie.
I didn’t love it, but I liked it okay. It was mostly kind of boring. It had its moments though. Charlotte was annoying at times, but I loved what a fighter she was and had a rebellious streak against her family’s dynamic. I liked Thomas a little more and was curious about what was going on with him and the mystery surrounding his mom. Honestly, I would’ve much rather of had a lot more of Nicole, Char’s BFF, because her scenes were the best and brought out more of the other characters.
The plot was interesting and kept me wanting to see what was going on, but I wasn’t all that impressed with the outcome and the answers. It seems like there could easily be a sequel, but the ending is closed enough for me to feel perfectly fine leaving it as is, because I probably wouldn’t continue anyway.
