Sunday Post #159 (1/24/16) – Hello, Rainy Days

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Damn, the week flew by. We’ve been getting some rain, which we still need so desperately that I’m not even going to complain about it.

I set my reading goal at 120 books this year, but it’s starting out pretty slow. I’m even a book ‘behind schedule’. Meh. Despite DNFing a couple books already, I’ve also read some great ones. So I’m happy with how the year is starting reading wise.

I recently saw that You by Caroline Kepnes is in development with Showtime! I’m so excited!

On the Blog

  • Off the Clock by Roni Loren (review) – A sexy, sexy good time. Rawr.

Books Read

The Dirt on Ninth Grave by Darynda Jones

Books Acquired

For Review:

I totally blame Joy for this.

the dirty secret

I blame a price drop for this one.

What I’m Listening To

Have a great week!

  1. I scrolled down and I got a little jolt from PatD’s freeze frame on Youtube – creepy video!!! I like the song! Do I not listen to them enough or does their sound change alot? I remember liking the song Miss Jackson a while back, I just can’t tell if they’re top 40 or alt or does it matter?

YAY for rain! Keep growing those veggies for us!!

    Have a great week!!

I love the video. It’s kind of hot, especially 1:55. lol. Yeah, I guess their sound evolves, but I like it all.

Oh my gosh, it’s so green around here from the rain, and there’s actually snow on the mountains. I’ll have to take some pictures.

I loved the creepy video and I should thank you for introducing me to Halestorm a few weeks ago. Have you heard of Evanescence? Try there fallen CD, track Going Under, it has a video that I think you would like πŸ™‚

Halestorm rocks. I even love the cover of Girl Crush she did. I haven’t listened to Evanescence in a long time, but yeah, I like them too.

  2. That’s great you’re getting needed rain! We got a bit of snow near me but nothing too crazy and it was kind of warm today. We always have weird weather. haha

Yay for price drops on books! Hope your latest additions are good reads. And blah, that whole “book behind” thing on Goodreads is crazy. We book people have our ups and downs. Before you know it you’ll read like five books in a row super quick! haha

  3. I got my first DNF and 2 star of the year, but also lots of good ones. I always set my goal a bit on the low side on goodreads, so at least it doens’t tell me I am behind. For soem reaosn it’s so annoyign to have goodread sremind you you’re behind. I started the year with some novella’s, so I am a book or two ahead at the moment I think.
That’s good to hear you got some rain. I read Skinwalker years ago and enjoyed it, but never got around to continue the series, although I do think I own the next few books too. I hope you’ll have a great week!

  4. We’ve had quite a bit of rain lately too, thank goodness. I’m out in the garden most days and trying to liven it up a bit. I blame Joy a lot for my book purchases too, especially when it comes to romance πŸ˜€ She can sell snow to Eskimos that woman. Have a fabulous week of reading Christy <3 <3

  5. oh at the beginning of the year I was starting off slower than I would have liked. But this past week I have really picked up my pace of reading. And now I am ahead which is awesome. I think its totally fine to DNF when you need to.

  6. I’m also in a reading slump. I have only read two books since Dec. 23. It is killing me but I am just so apathetic to reading right now due to the regular school work problems, the issues with my yearbook staff and the yearbook itself, and now all the bullshit from my ex and the man’s ex. I just want to spend my time with Baby and the man every second I can. It’s getting difficult to maintain. Happy reading this week!

  7. My reading has started off a bit slow too. Must be something about January… I’m just slacking on the reading. πŸ™‚ It’s been snowy here rather than rainy, although we missed the big blizzard so I’m good with that.

120 books! I don’t know how many I read in a year (Goodreads could tell me I guess if I used it properly) LOL but I know it’s not that many! Good luck with your goal- you got lots of time! πŸ™‚

  8. Glad you’re getting some much needed rain. We got a bit of snow, but missed the blizzardy stuff.

I think I’m in the same reading mood as I’ve read some good ones, but also DNF’d a few, too. Oh well, moving on and hopefully keeping up with all the books I grab. I have a few people that tempt me to snag books. πŸ™‚

    Have a good week, Christy!

  9. We had warm temps for the season, then 4-5 days of really cold (no snow), then 2-3 days of rain, then… blue sky, warm temps, spring is here ! I’m actually typing bathed in the sunlight and I think the heating is off, lol. I just added you on FB πŸ˜‰ Have a great week !

  10. Brandee, I feel as if you’re talking about me in your comment above :O

Both your new books look amazing, Christy, and I hope you’ll enjoy them. I have a vague recollection of Skinwalker, not sure if I’ve read it or if I just own it, though… I’m so, so bad!

I’ve set my Goodreads challenge lower than last year, too, but I’m trying to not pay too much attention to it. Reading is supposed to be just for fun πŸ™‚ And I don’t want to put any pressure on myself.

Have a wonderful week and happy reading.

  11. I hope you get more and more of our rain. We are enjoying a bit of a break today, So far in the last two months we have gotten over twenty inches of rain, that is a butt load, we usually get 40 inches a year. I set my reading goal way down from 200 to 150 so I don’t feel so stressed and I hate it when it tells me I am behind. I am sure you will catch up.
