After losing almost all of her clients in one fell swoop following an accident involving whipped cream, private chef to Hollywood’s elite Roxie Callahan gets a call from her flighty mother, saying she’s needed home in upstate New York to run the family diner. Once she's back in the Hudson Valley, local organic farmer Leo delivers Roxie a lovely bunch of walnuts, and soon sparks—and clothing—begin to fly. Leo believes that everything worth doing is worth doing slowly…and how! But will Roxie stay upstate, or will the lure of West Coast redemption tempt her back to Tinseltown?
So, so freaking good! I read Wallbanger a couple years ago and had the best time with it, so I knew Alice Clayton could bring on the sexy and the laughs. The best combo, in my opinion. And Nuts has plenty of both.
I have to give a huge warning: this book will make you salivate! For the food, of course. Oh lordy, I can’t even tell you how many times I wanted to get in the kitchen and start making all the delicious dishes Roxie fixed up. I’m sure mine wouldn’t be nearly as yummy, though. She is a professional chef, after all.
I adore the hell out the characters in Nuts. Roxie had me laughing so much! Then add Leo to the mix and these two were so dang fun together. I just love the ease of their connection and watching them slowly fall for each other. But not only are they adorable, so are the secondary characters. Chad and Logan forever! Great friendships are always a major plus, and those two with Roxie are pure delight.
The small town setting was wonderful. I enjoyed seeing Roxie’s perspective of her hometown change and how she gained a true appreciation for it. It reminds me a lot of where I’m from, so experiencing those feelings through her had me appreciating all mine had to offer even more.
Nuts is just an all-around fun book that kept a perpetual smile on my face. I can’t wait for the second book in the Hudson Valley series, because I know that’s going to be a good time too.
Ahh I love Alice Clayton–I remember reading Wallbanger a few years ago and being in a fit of laughter. Clayton knows how to write. I’m so happy you enjoyed this one too Christy. I’ll have to give it a try!
I have only read one of hers, but that one was funny
That’s nice! LOL for the food stuff. I haven’t read a book by this author but I think I have one or 2 if I’m not mistaken with the name.
So glad to see you really liked this one!! I have it just haven’t gotten to it yet. I really enjoy Clayton’s books. They are so funny. Plus food now! Can’t wait. Great review!
When I realized Clayton had a new book out I ran to the library but they didn’t have it-so I had a hissy fit and demanded they order it, and I’m now the first one of the holds list when it’s processed into the system 🙂 I should get it yet this month and I’m sooooo excited to read it!
I am so mad at myself. I saw this book on sale a couple of months ago but talked myself out of it. Now that I am seeing all of these wonderful reviews, I really want to read it. I love that you say that this book is full of humor! I really enjoy a good romance with a funny side. I definitely need to try Alice Clayton very soon. Great review!
OMG YES! All the food description in this one were amazing! I didn’t love this one as much as I did Wallbanger (gosh that book was hilarious) mostly because of Leo keeping that one thing at the end that caused drama, but I still had tons of fun reading it.
Glad you did too! 🙂
This was a great read. The food, Leo. Roxie was hilarious. It was just all around good. Glad you liked it!
I want to read Alice Clayton’s books. I love the humor she really seems to bring to her stories and the premise of this one is just calling me. I can never resist books with a foodie angle. Glad you enjoyed this one! It sounds like lots of fun!
This book gave me life, and I’m so glad that you love it!! I was turning page after page, and didn’t stop til the end. I’m so ready for book 2. I need me some cream!
This was such a fun book! I want more Chad and Logan! 🙂
Sigh… I really meant to read this in December for the book club, but I didn’t get it worked in. I am on a comfort reading binge right now, so I think I will read this over the weekend. I love the thought of food and cozy small town.

I remember reading Wallbanger shortly after it was released and thinking the same thing Christy, her humour is laugh out loud funny and really sets her apart from other romance authors. This sounds like a sexy, feel good read and I can’t wait to grab a copy too. Thanks for the wonderful review, really enjoyed it <3
I’ve seen reviews all over the place for this which is why I haven’t picked it up yet so it’s nice to see yours and to know that you liked it.
Her humor works for me too. Definitely reading this at some point
Still haven’t read her books! I only read part of Wallbanger when it was a fanfic, but I never got to finish it. I know the author is hilarious though. I really need to see where that story ended up. 😀
I want to read ALLLL her books, but I need to find time. Sigh. I do have Nuts on my Kindle though – it was on sale at some point around the holidays so I grabbed it. Hope to read it soon!
I really enjoyed Wallbanger, too, Christy! I don’t know why I haven’t gone back to Clayton but you have me pushing Nuts up in the queue. I like sexy and funny together as well, and Clayton really does seem very capable of delivering on that. I also like small town settings. 🙂 I’m so glad you had such a good time with Nuts. Thanks for sharing the great review! 😀
I need this immediately Christy! IMMEDIATELY! I’m in the mood for a cute, fun romance that will make me laugh and I’ve heard such great things about Alice Clayton’s books. Can’t wait to meet these two!
I need a good fun book!!
This one’s on my to-read list, I heard good things about it and about this author. The cobmination of laughs and sexy times, sounds like it would make for a great combination. And I love books that make me want to cook, it’s great when the characetrs cook in books. And it makes it easier to relate to them as I love to cook as well. I love small town settings. Great review!
Oh you can tell that there HAS to be humor here and I’m glad it works. I really need to try this one out.
The characters sound wonderful and happy to hear that the foods sounds scrumptious.
Yay! Clayton does small town and it works. I was wondering if this book was going to be all hype but now that it’s passed YOUR test, I know it’ll be good 😉
You have me excited to read this one. I haven’t read any of her books, but I love the idea of sexy and funny together in the same book. Some foodie books drive me nuts with the food cravings. 🙂 Nice review, Christy!
Okay so for the next down day sounds like this is the one to go to for a cheer 😀 I’ve still not tried her. I think I have Wallbanger on the tablet though 😀
OMG Wallbanger was HILARIOUS!!! I’ve loved every book that I’ve read in that series so far. I’m REALLY looking forward to reading this one. I adore Alice Clayton’s writing style so much. Glad to see this was another fun read of hers! And I’m so happy you enjoyed it. Great review! 🙂
This does sound fun. I love small-town books and yummy descriptions of food.
