Sunday Post #155 (12/13/15) – Just a Spoonful of Sugar

Posted December 12, 2015 | 35 Comments

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

I’ve kind of been in slow motion this week. It has been hard to really focus on anything, even when it comes to reading. I just want to drink hot chocolate and watch Mary Poppins. And omg, the highs have been in the 50s and lows in the 30s … that’s effing freezing to me! On top of that, I haven’t done any Christmas shopping. For people I know, anyway. I thought I’d get my son an Apple watch, but noooo he doesn’t want one. C’mon! I don’t know, maybe I’ll just get everyone a damn scarf and be done with it.

  1. I’m hardly reading anything right now- with the holidays, just too much going on. I’m putting up posts but reading- eh sorta. ๐Ÿ™‚ We’ve been in 50’s this week too, which is nice here for Dec -but I hear ya, if you’re used to warmer temps that sucks.

Instagram husband… I laughed! “We used to eat our food” LOL.

  2. OMG that instagram snippet was so funny, Christy! Thanks for sharing. I share mostly book pictures on mine, but I see some people who post loads of new pictures every single day – while their pictures are gorgeous, I always wonder how tired they are of taking those pictures…
I don’t have any Christmas presents either, and I have no idea what to get anyone. My kids are all like oh I want a video game – usually not age appropriate and therefore not possible.
We have lower temperatures than you, the highs are in the 30s, the lows in the 20s. Not really cold enough to see any snow yet.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  3. Oh it has been in the 50’s and 60’s here and it has been amazing! I haven’t had to wear a jacket and it is glorious. I say get everyone a scarf and be done with it. Sounds like a good idea. That video is hysterical!! I love it. Have a great week!

  4. My husband is so freakin’ lucky (snort)

I feel just as WTF as you do. Have you seen how NOT often I’m posting? I think it’s because we’re done with 2015. I ponder the reason why resolutions are so popular in January is b/c we’re all WTF in December.

Do you think your boy might want to get into biking in addition to running? Like eventually do triathalon? You could start him down that path. He just doesn’t sound like a techy kid. Am I wrong? Apple watch sounds like a pain in the Ass! Does he have a watch that has GPS? We have a Garmin ForeRunner that is awesome. Garmin’s phone apps are tolerable for sync’ing runs.

    See? I’m full of options.

      December can kiss my ass.

He’s not techy. He doesn’t like wearing watches at all, not even while running, so that’s out. He did competitive swimming from the age of 5 to 13, and then did running only. We know a lot of cyclers and triathlon runners, and he likes riding the bikes, so it’s a possibility for the future. Right now he’s focused on cross country and track. He’s going to do steeple chase for the first time this track season and excited to do the hurdling. He’s so damn tall he pretty much just steps over them. lol. It was so much easier when he was a kid. Toys was always the answer.

  5. I hate the cold weather myself. Everyone at work talks about how nice it is outside and I sit in my office with a heater going under my desk freezing. I haven’t done any Christmas shopping yet either. Ok….I have bought a few things for me and my husband but that is just because there are some great deals out there. I had better get busy or I may have to take your scarf idea and run with it.

  6. I am finished with my christmas shopping, I like to start early enough as else it just get’s stressfull. It sure is difficult to come up with a good idea for as pressent for some people. I always find it difficult to come up with presents for my mom as she already has everything she wants. Getting everyone a scarf sounds like a good idea ;).

Our weather has been mild for this time fo the year, but it’s been really dreary with dark and grey all the time. At least the temperature stays sort of consistent. I hope you’ll have a great week!

I’m way behind on Christmas shopping too, eeep. We’ll get there. ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s been 50s here in New England which is balmy for December; 30’s is definitely chilly. LOL

Take care and good luck shopping!

  8. We got (hopefully) the bulk of our Christmas shopping yesterday but I’m feeling it! Teenage boys are impossible to shop for! I finally forced a list out of mine but it’s was basically all gift cards with the exception of a FitBit, a game, and a new controller. Not particularly exciting but at least something. With the girls I can make some guesses but boys are just impossible. Have a great week!

  9. How the hell do you have colder weather than we do?! You’re usually always warmer, but here we are in the 70’s. This is the weirdest winter ever.
I just finished my main shopping, I have two more things to grab but I plan to do that on Wednesday.

  10. Nathan

I actually got my dad a scarf. I have finished most of my Christmas shopping, mainly just the kittens left. I found I had to shop with them and have them point things out, so there will be few surprises I am afraid. It is around 40F were I am at, so a bit chilly. Not cold per say, yet.

  11. You are supposed to get this rain. It has been warm while it has rained. Earlier in the week it was 60 degrees and raining. I have had a butt full of rain. Ten inches since the first of the month. You guys really need this, so someone please send it to California.

  12. OMG get to Christmas shopping!! You do have two weeks left… Just buy everything on Amazon with their Holiday Deals ๐Ÿ˜€ How are you liking Ashley Bell? I want to read that one but at the same time I feel eh about it. Idk, I’m weird.
Below 65 degrees is extremely freezing to me! I cannot live where you do.
    Have a good week!

  13. My one thing I ordered for my mom for Christmas still has not come in! I’m starting to worry. Otherwise, my main focus during the holidays is to finally get rid of these dang mice! All I want to do is read my books!

  14. Poor Instagram husbands, lol ! I don’t have Christmas presents yet – except for my youngest (a phone), it took my daughters forever to decide what they would like, my boyfriend doesn’t want anything and my sister doesnt answer ! Hell, I just want food and booze – I’m an easy gal ๐Ÿ˜‰

  15. I feel like I’ve been in slow motion blog-wise for months now Christy! I’m barely getting one book read a week because I lack the motivation and work has been really busy and I don’t feel like reading when I’m done for the day. *sigh*

    Maybe a Supernatural binge will help…. ๐Ÿ™‚

I only have my husband left to shop for, but he’s the hardest one. Maybe I’ll follow your lead and just get him a scarf:)
