Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day before her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.
Oh dear, here we go again, Colleen Hoover busting out all the feels with November 9. To say I highly anticipated this book would be an understatement. One thing is for certain, I was not disappointed.
I was already looking forward to November 9 just for the fact that it’s a CoHo book, but my excitement shot through the roof when I read the premise. The idea of forming a strong connection with someone and deciding to meet once a year without contact in between is one I love. A big part of my excitement is because it reminded me of the movie Same Time, Next Year, which I adore. They’re executed differently though, and I have to say, I absolutely love the way Colleen brought it all together. I’m not going to get into a bunch of details, because it’s best to experience it yourself.
Ben and Fallon are adorable! While we get Fallon’s story pretty much right from the beginning, Ben remains a bit of a mystery. Oh, the anticipation of discovering what was going on with him was great, especially when it came to the book he was writing based on their situation. Yes, Ben is a writer, and the way books and their tropes were incorporated into the story was clever and a just so damn cute!
Going on this journey with these two was quite an emotional rollercoaster, and that’s something I can always count on from CoHo. The wealth of humor, the swooning, the angst … I crave it all. Experiencing everything with Ben and Fallon put my dark heart through the wringer on a number of occasions, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Give me all the feels!
There’s so much great dialogue, with an abundance of wit and smile inducing banter that flows so easy between them. There was definitely a whole lot of laughing going on! I like to highlight my favorite parts to revisit later, but I did it so often that I might as well just reread the book in its entirety.
Seriously, there’s so much to love about this book! So grab a copy and enjoy this completely fun and heartfelt romance. Now the painful wait starts for Colleen’s next book …
I still have not tried her books :/
You need to!
I am so excited about this book, and like you, just seeing CoHo on the cover of a book makes me buy it! I don’t even always read the summary, I just know I want her books 🙂
I hope you love it too, Lexxie! It was a lot of fun.
I did love it, Christy! And I almost highlighted the whole book, too! At one point, a whole page in one go 🙂 It was so well done, and I loved both Ben and Fallon!
Yesss I’m so glad you enjoyed this next CoHo read! I just received this one and I have high hopes, I’ve already read one disappointed review so your review inspired me!
It’s a fun romance, nothing to get all twisted about. So I’m avoiding any negative reviews.
WOOT WOOT!! Glad you loved this. Can’t wait for my preorder to pop up on my kindle tomorrow now! Great review!
I still haven’t read any of her books. I FAIL AT LIFE CHRISTY! I so love smile-inducing banter though, so I’m thinking this could be a good place to start:)
Oh I am SUPER excited for this book! I have yet to read a CoHo book but I do have a couple of her books and I love the sound of Fallon and Ben. Hope I love November 9 as much as you do 🙂
I really need to read more of her…this one sounds like it has an awesome premise!!
awesome review, I will be reading it this month for Kim’s book club, so super curious how I will feel about it
Psst, your tweet for the giveaway is over 140 characters.
“an emotional rollercoaster…great dialogue, with an abundance of wit and smile inducing banter” Sounds wonderful. I’ve yet to read a book by her but this one is tempting.
Yay! I loved this too! I think my review goes up next week? I can’t remember now, either way, it was fantastic!
I only have read one Colleen Hoover book so far and I really enjoyed that one, but so far haven’t been in a hurry to pick up any of her other books. I do like the premise of this one and I am glad to hear it was executed well! It’s interesting that you get Fallon her story immediately, while Ben remains a bit of a mystery, it’s fun to discover mroe about the characters as the book progresses. It sure sounds like it was an emotional rollercoaster. Great review!
I hope I like this one, the last couple of COHO books for me have been a bit disappointing. I will be reading it for the book club this weekend, fingers crossed!
What a wonderful premise for a romance! I don’t think I’ve ever read anything like it. I have yet to read something of hers, but this might be an excellent place to start.
I love the idea of meeting on one day of the year, too. I read one of her books a while back and liked it.
This sounds good but I am leery about “all the feels”. I hate to cry and I have a feeling I will end up hating that I enjoyed this book. LOL
Le sigh. The hits keep on coming for Ms. CoHo. I guess I have to pick this one up.
I so need to read some more Hoover, this one sounds great.
I had so much love for this book too… I was on edge waiting to get Ben’s story. Great review girl!!
Oh Christy i’ve been anticipating this book FOREVER, Seriously, i remember the synopsis going up around a year and a half ago or so. THANK GOD IT’S FINALLY OUT. I’m so happy you enjoyed this one and i just can’t wait to get my own hands on it.
I haven’t tried this one ut I really loved the 2 books I did read by her so I’m really curious!
I want. That is all. Great review. I’m pretty excited for this one!
So ready to read this book! I’ve read nothing but great things about it.
I kneeeewww this book was going to be amazing when I read the excerpt. God dang-it I am so excited. CoHo, hehe, so cute. She is pretty amazing.
Love the idea connecting with someone and deciding to meet only one day a year. I do not think I have ever read anything like that. That is also what makes Colleen Hoover amazing her novel are original or at least for me they are.
I personally haven’t read anything like it, but there’s this movie Same Time, Next Year from 1978 that I love. It’s the same idea, but executed differently. November 9 is definitely more emotional.
Something that would be interesting to watch.
i will admit I have not read anything by her. I’ve wanted to though, and I will definitely read this one. It sounds so great, and perfect for book lovers!
I’m still reading it! Oh my feels 😀 It is destroying me in that way that CoHo specialises in. Like you I love the way the book tropes are linked in, especially insta-love and bookable kisses. So cute!
I KNOW you loved this book and I always love her books – she delivers a HEA everytime. But knowing ME like you do… will I like this book??? I don’t mind being destroyed. I survived Ugly Love 😉
Tell me like it is, girl!!!!!!
Yes, you’ll like it. I didn’t find it heartbreaking in the way Ugly Love was, it in a different way. There’s also a lot more humor in this book, and Ben … haha love the guy to pieces. So yeah, definitely read it. And as an UL fan, you’ll be happy when you read this. That’s all I’m saying.
I haven’t read Colleen Hoover’s books in a while. I guess it’s a good time to pick her back up, eh? ;D November 9 sounds very cute. I think a little light book in my life right now.
I haven’t ever read anything from this author but you’ve put this book on my radar. So happy to hear you enjoyed it, Christy. Loved the review <3
My copy should arrive next week!! I can’t wait. I was actually going to buy the signed copy but it’s almost $20 and I need to save money for Christmas. Hopefully, I get to have the next CoHo book signed 😀 So yes, let’s painfully wait for the next book *sighs* I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I really need to get started with her other books, but it’s kinda hard to when you’ve got a friend who wants to read it with you but never finds the time to, lol! Wonderful review! P.S Is this going to make me ugly cry like Maybe Someday and Ugly Love? ;D
Hahaha … well … maybe. 😛 But as a fan of Ugly Love, you’ll be very happy. That’s all I’m saying. lol
The only book I read from Hoover is Finding Cinderella and I love it so much! I really wanted to buy her books but it’s so freaking expensive. Maybe this Christmas, I’ll purchase November 9 as a gift to myself! LOL. Lovely review. 🙂
