Sunday Post #147 (10/18/15) – Mudslides & Flash Floods

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

A busy and stressful week. I didn’t even get to read anything. Anything I want to read, anyway.

We had a mean storm this week with lots of lightening and rain. I almost forgot what that was like, so it was nice. Except for the mudslides and flash floods. The I-5 through what we call the Grapevine is the main path to get to SoCal, and my son was with his XC team on their way down there when shit hit the fan. They got caught up in some of it, but were luckily far enough back to where they got out of the mud. Then went all the way back and around a different way, but that was crazy too because roads were so flooded and they barely got through right before it wiped the highway out. He said it was intense. I’m just glad they made it okay and decided to leave a little earlier than originally planned.

Yes, the blog looks different. I got sick of the old look, so changed it real quick. I don’t know if it’ll stay like this. It’s annoying because I’ll see a shade of color one way on one device and see it a different way on another. So who freaking knows what color this blog really is. It could be green for all I know.

On the Blog

  • Cocky Bastard by Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland (review) – Funny & full of feels.
  • Surviving Ice by KA Tucker (review) – Loved it & sad to see the series end.

Books Read

Nada. Nothing. Zilch. 🙁

Books Acquired

For Review:

  1. Yikes, sounds intense. Glad everyone was okay. We hardly got any storms this whole summer, which is kind of weird. It was very mild.

    I’m seeing purple and black too… 🙂

  2. I hate that the way the colours look different on different devices. I find with my font too, I think it looks great then on another device, it’s teeny tiny and I can’t read it. So hard to know exactly what others see. Like that dress white/gold or blue dress that broke the internet.

  3. Glad your son is okay! That would be scary and intense. We saw some of the footage on the news. I’m liking the new blog look, but I definitely understand why it would be annoying for it to be one color on one device and another on another device. Sorry you didn’t get anything read this week. I have a feeling that’ll be me this coming week. At least it looks like you’ve got some good books this week!

  4. Sounds like some nasty weather you got with the mud slides and the storm. I am glad we don’t get such extreme weather over here. It’s weird how colours show up differently on different screens. I remember when I switched pc screens this year my blog and Lola’s Blog Tours site looked much more bright green suddenly and that made me wonder how it looks for other people. I do like your new look, no matter which colour it is ;). I hope you’ll enjoy your new books and have a great week!

  5. Ugh. I’m well aware of how mudslides and flash floods work, and they are so very dangerous. Here in the Philippines, we get typhoons and cyclones so often that elevated things just… come crashing down sometimes, especially when you least expect it. I’m really glad that your son was okay and that I hope nobody was hurt real bad! Here’s to hoping for a better week ahead, personal-life-wise and book-wise!

  6. I read about the flash flooding, scary. When it finally does rain in California it pours. We have just had light showers here. Glad that your son was safe. Scary. Hope you have a better week.

  7. So glad your son left earlier than planned! That is so nerve-wracking. I have also been zilch on the reading. I want to take a vacation from life so I can get caught up in my reading. We should go somewhere green! 🙂
