Ivy, a talented tattoo artist who spent the early part of her twenties on the move, is finally looking for a place to call home. She thinks she might have found it in San Francisco, but all that changes when she witnesses a terrible crime. She’s ready to pack up her things yet again, when a random encounter with a stranger keeps her in the city, giving her reason to stay after all.
That is, until Ivy discovers that their encounter wasn’t random. Not at all…
I knew Surviving Ice would be my favorite book in the series! My love for the series has increased with each book, so it doesn’t surprise me that Surviving Ice topped them.
Okay, I admit it won my favor because it’s Ivy’s books. Damn I love that girl!
The whole book felt edgier than the others, which makes sense since we’re talking about Ivy here. No one can hold her down and she doesn’t do commitment. Hell, she doesn’t even commit to a place to live, and it’s cool how we’ve had a glimpse of that throughout the previous books. She’s one tough cookie though, who doesn’t put up with crap. I love her style, attitude, artistic abilities … You get the idea.
Unfortunately, my poor Ivy witnesses a murder that leaves her in danger and in the company of Sebastian. Mmmm sexy, cold, deadly Sebastian. This guy is one badass ex-SEAL and is a lot like Ivy in ways. Yes, I was crushing on him!
Tucker has a knack for pairing her characters perfectly, giving them a partner that’s right for them, not just attraction. Of course the chemistry is always top notch, but the connection goes deep and it’s easy to feel that. Neither one tends to show emotions, hiding them well. I love how Ivy and Sebastian flirt and joke in this deadpan way, but they get each other.
Even though this is my favorite installment, I didn’t find it as suspenseful as say, Becoming Rain, but it’s still really good!
I’m sad to see this series come to a close but it’s been a fun ride! And I’m glad it ended on such a strong note.
“Are you asking me to take off my pants, Ivy?”
There it is again. The words are flirtatious but his tone is entirely neutral. Almost sterile. But I can see his eyes in the mirror. They’re on me, sharp and perceptive and anticipating.
Waiting for my reaction.
“After seven hours under my needle, we’ll practically be married. You may as well unbuckle now,”
I love that quote. I don’t know why I haven’t read any of K.A. Tucker’s books yet. Shame on me, this one sound so good!
You always have the most love for the edgiest characters! I actually didn’t like this one as much as the others (whaaaaatttt???) Yep! I’m disagreeing with you!!! I actually forgot why I was “meh” about it so I went and looked at my review – I wrote it so long ago.
You’ll just have to wait until Monday (ha!) when it posts. But I will say I did LOVE the characters 😀
I am reading this now..so I just snuck a peak to see if you liked it..and hells yes..I am hoping this will be my favorite too. I love Ivy..and so far so good!
Ex-SEAL you say? SOLD! I’m always a sucker for a badass military (or ex-military) hero! Ivy sounds like such a great character as well, and clearly her story starts in the previous books so I’ll have to start at the beginning:)
OMG, this book sounds absolutely yummy! I think I am starting with Surviving Ice and will get the rest of the series later. That quote was just too good to resist. Yum!
Not something I’d pick up like that, dunno why. But now it does sound good
Oh, man! I need to binge read this series!
Now that the series has come to an end, I’ll finally be able to read it without pausing, yay !
Dang it, now you are making me mad that I didn’t read this one. It is so freaking hard to pick and choose which books to read anymore. 🙁
So glad you liked this though. 😉 Have an amazing weekend!
I recently read the first book in this series and I really enjoyed it and ordered the next books right after. I have Surviving Ice pre-ordered already, although I have to read book 2 and 3 first. I really liked the couple in the first book, so I hope I’ll enjoy the other couples as well. I think we met Ice already in the first book shortly, right? Those romances were they not only have attraction, but also a real connection are my favourites. I hope I’ll enjoy this oen as much as you did. Great Review!
No, Sebastian is new to the series in this book. Ivy makes an appearance in Burying Water as the tattoo artist who does Alex’s tattoo. The second book focuses on Luke from BW and a new girl. Chasing River focuses on Amber, Jesse’s sister, and a new guy. Ivy appears in that one too. Then this book. So it’s like Burying Water is the base, and the other books branch from it.
Ah yes I meant Ivy, I thought she was Ice too, as in the first book the female is named water, so I assumed they stayed with that. It sounds fun how in every book there is one character who is familiar and then a new character. I hope I can continue this series soon as the next books all sounds really good.
I swear I see this author everywhere lately. I have a couple of books of hers on my wishlist and marked at the library. Might need to get on this series so I can catch up to you and love these characters as you do!
So many people were loving this one A LOT! Like, there were more praises for this than the other books in the series from what I noticed XD Would love to check this series out as a whole. I’ve heard nothing but good feedback.
I like the new decor, Christy!
Planning to binge read this series sometime in November, I’m prepared to be blown away. Boom!
I really, really want to start this series. I love K.A. Tucker! And I have book one already on my reader.
Fun quote, I can’t wait to get my hands on this one. I already love Ivy and I can’t wait to really get her story. Is this the last book then? If so aw, this is one of my fav series.
I absolutely loved Ivy, too! For all the reasons you mentioned, plus, she’s a tattoo artist! I love tattoos 🙂 And reading the detailed description of the reaper she tattooed during her story just made me want more 🙂
These books just get better and better in my opinion, too 🙂 Tucker is a great writer, and her characters are always a little different from the norm.
Great review, Christy!
Wait, wait. This is the last book? Nooooooooooooo! Ugh. Well, I am reading this one now. I do love Ivy. I am so excited to meet Sebastian. You know I love the cold ones.
I love Ivy as well, but you’ve got to give Sebastian some props too. I think he’s my favourite amongst Tucker’s boys.
Reading this now! Super excited! only a little way into it!
Becoming Rain has to be my favorite of the series but it’s battling with Surviving Ice since both are amazing! I’m incredibly sad to see this series end when it was phenomenal.
