Sunday Post #144 (9/27/15) – Autumn Who?

Posted September 26, 2015 | 37 Comments

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Wednesday was the first day of Autumn here in the Northern Hemisphere, but it still feels like summer where I live. Sunny and temps in the 90s. I’m not complaining, because I love this weather. It’s selfish though, since I know we desperately need lots of rain. There doesn’t seem to be much of the four seasons anymore.

I took a little hour trip to San Francisco this week and didn’t want to come home. On my way back I witnessed a man and woman arguing in a truck, then the dude threw a book out the window. I think he was jealous of a book boyfriend. πŸ˜‰

On the Blog

  • Bits & Pieces by Jonathan Maberry (review) – A total must read for the series.

For Review:

I’m excited for the new Dan Wells series. I read The New Hunger already and like it. I can’t even tell you how excited I am for Break Me Down. And I blame Joy for The Anatomical Shape of a Heart, which is also titled Night Owls.

What I’m Watching

I’m finally all caught up with Supernatural. What an ending to the 10th season!

Who watched Scream Queens? I think it’s my new favorite show on TV right now. I love campy movies and shows like this. It’s funny, and some of the shit that comes out of Chanel’s mouth cracks me the hell up. She’s awful in the best way!

Have a great week!

lol- That’s what I like to imagine the argument was over. Yeah, they put the 1st and 2nd episode back to back. So if you watched the 1st, just watch the 2nd.

  1. We have real fall where I live, it’s very cool in the morning, but if it’s sunny, it warms up during the day. No more flip-flops and shorts, though.
I would have been so mad if my husband threw my book out of the window! That’s just not done – book boyfriend or not πŸ˜‰
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

  2. Oh man. I was just complaining about how ridiculously un-Autumnlike was the weather up here yesterday (29 C – roughly 90 F), not that that’s something to complain about considering it’s cold up here for most of the year. Lol.

Ack!! I really hope you’ll enjoy Night Owls. It’s so freaking good, but sometimes, our tastes don’t jive, yanno? Good luck!!! I’ll be on the lookout for your review!

Ha – I have no idea. They had been arguing for awhile, so he might’ve just thrown it out because it was hers and to be a dick. Or maybe she did something awful and deserved her book thrown out. I just liked think it was book boyfriend jealousy. lol

  3. The weather is starting to change in Texas, but we haven’t fully hit the fall weather yet. The mornings and nights are cooler, but it is still getting pretty warm during the day. I would be so mad if somebody threw my book out of a moving vehicle!

  4. I went to San Francisco once when I was young and I absolutely loved it! Really wish I could go back! All your books look so amazing, I\\\’m really dying of cover-envy here πŸ˜‰ I also haven\\\’t watched Scream Queens yet, might wait till the new American Horror Story comes out and then see if I trust the writer again after the last season! Thanks for sharing πŸ™‚ I hope you have a great weekend!

I dipped out on the last season of AHS after 3 or 4 episodes. Scream Queens is a different kind of beast, more on the humor side.

  5. Great new books you got there. Isn’t Supernatural the best? I remember when I started watching it there were already 7 seasons out and I marathoned them all in two months. It was a Supernatural overdose, but I loved it. I watched Scream Queens but I was hoping it would be more scary, and maybe Chanel would be more mean (like Emma Roberts was in American Horror Story), but it’s really amusing so far.

That’s funny, I watched Supernatural from when it first started, but then dropped out after the 6th season. No real reason. So I started watching the rest a few months ago. I’m glad I’m up to date now. Yeah, Scream Queens is meant to be more funny and campy, which I love. I like that it’s a different beast than AHS.

  6. Here it’s cooler, but not yet full autumn weather. I am happy with the cooler temperatures though. Someone threw a book out of the window? Lol, that’s serious. Maybe he was jealous indeed. I hope you’ll have a great week!

  7. Oh my gosh I wonder if he was, now that would be hilarious! But poor book, no one should throw books. I hope she rescued it.

This weekend it was in the 90’s and I have to admit, I loved it! I love the cooler mornings and really warm days. My favorite time of year but sadly it won’t last. We rarely get season here anymore either other than hot and then cold. πŸ™

  8. I’m dying to know what the book throwing story is! Was it hard to not go ask questions? San Francisco sounds like a fun trip. I’ve never been but it’s on my list of places I’d love to visit. I’m with you on liking hot weather. Our temps are all over the place right now and I’m not loving it! Have a great week!

  9. The New Hunger has a cool cover!

But seriously, the main threw the book out the car window? HOW DARE HE!! haha

I saw the last half hour or so of Scream Queens. It’s quite campy and I think I’d really like it but I work and I’m already taping things 8-9 so maybe if I can catch it On Demand and keep up with it. haha
