When Honey Perribow traded in her cowboy boots for stilettos and left her small Kentucky town to attend Columbia University, she never expected to find a dirt-cheap apartment or two new best friends. No stranger to hard work, Honey is completely focused on her medical degree … until she sees newly minted professor Ben Dawson, and her concentration is hijacked. Honey is fascinated by her gorgeous young English professor and vows to find a crack in his tweed-wearing, glasses-clad exterior.
At an off-campus party, an accident lands Ben in a dark, locked closet with a sexy-sounding Southern belle … and their chemistry is explosive. But when he discovers that the girl in his arms is the same beautiful student he can't stop thinking about, he is stunned. Student-teacher relationships are strictly forbidden … yet no matter how hard he tries, Ben can't stay away from Honey.
And when his attempt to fight their attraction nearly ruins the best thing that ever happened to him, Ben will do anything to prove how much he needs her.
After reading and adoring Chase Me, I was very much looking forward to reading the rest of the series that revolves around this group of friends. In Need Me, Honey and Ben have the whole professor-student forbidden thing going on, which I like. It’s weird, because I felt like I constantly went from one extreme to the other with this book. One minute I’d be totally enamored with it, and the next I’d be completely annoyed. There are plenty of funny and emotional moments, and they’re really hot together, but gah, all the internal rambling and the use of Lolita are only a couple of irritants that drove me crazy View Spoiler ». So I’m all over the place with Need Me.

Construction worker Russell Hart has been head-over-work boots for Abby Sullivan since the moment he laid eyes on her. But he knows a classy, uptown virgin like her could never be truly happy with a rough, blue-collar guy like him. If only she'd stop treating him like her personal hero—a role he craves more than oxygen—maybe he could accept it.
With the future of her family's hedge fund on her shoulders, Abby barely has time to sleep, let alone find love. And her best friend Russell acting like a sexy, overprotective hulk any time their Super Group goes out in public definitely isn't helping her single status. But after a near-tragedy lands Russell in her bed for the night, Abby's suddenly fantasizing about what he looks like shirtless. Chest hair and tattoos—who knew?
As Russell struggles to keep Abby at a safe distance, she begins to see through his tough-talking exterior—and acknowledge her own feelings. Now she's ready to turn the friend-zone into foreplay…and make him lose control.
I expected Make Me to be my favorite of The Broke & Beautiful series because Russell and Abby were always making me laugh in the previous books. Unfortunately, I liked it the least. I really thought it would be fun and entertaining. Wrong. I mean, it had its moments, but all the misunderstandings and drama really brought it down for me. Russell could be sweet and enduring with great intentions at times, but his alpha male antics got on my last nerve. I wanted to send him back to his cave on a number of occasions.
Even though my fondness for the series dropped with each book, I was glad to see all three couples get their HEA.
It’s a shame you didn’t enjoy the rest of the series as much as you hoped. I usually like the student/teacher romances too, but it sounds like things went from one extreme to the next. And your favourite couple let you down… bummer!
I hate when a series like this doesn’t stay up to the level of the first book. I’m glad you enjoyed them enough and got to see each couple get their HEA! Great review!
Need Me was my least favorite of the series. The whole professor-student thing did not work for me. I kept thinking about all my professors, who are all pretty ancient and it was gross how he kept lusting after her while in class. But when I tried to forget that he was her professor, it was a fun book.
Funny. Make Me was my favorite of the series. 🙂 I get where you’re coming from though. I went into the book expecting angst and I got it.
Haha oh man, I had some VERY good looking professors.
Grrrrrrr to misunderstandings and drama Christy! That’s one of my biggest reading pet peeves. I no longer have the patience to deal with people who can’t communicate time and again. I think I’ll pass on these two, but will definitely check out Chase Me:)
aww sorry you didnt enjoy the rest of the series ;/ it happens, sad when it does tho
I haven’t read a good teacher/student style romance for a while. Sometimes I find with the ‘forbidden’ romances that the ‘forbidden’ness is more in someone’s head than anything.
Bummer the angst got too much on the last one, but at least it wasn’t a total washout.
Awwww, sorry these didn’t “do it” for you. I hate when that happens to me b/c I feel like I’ve wasted precious brain cells on the book or something. Hey, there is that closure, though, right!?!?! 😀 That’s a positive…
Argh on misunderstandings and drama. Why do so many romance authors fall into those pitfalls? The second book is one I’d skip because I have a hard time with student-teacher romances but the third one has an appealing blurb. It’s disappointing that the book didn’t live up to it. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy these as much as you did the first one.
I’ve never come across this series. I love a little drama but if it keeps getting to be too much with each book, it makes me not like the series. I’m glad that at least your fav characters got their HEA.
I think this series is a no go for me. Especially if it irritated you as I know you have the patience of JOB….ha ha ha
Awe, what a bummer. I hate when I think one book will be my fave but it turns out the opposite. :/ I’ve only read one or two of her books. I need to give this series a try for myself!
At least they all got their HEAs but, still, boo for the series getting progressively worse with each new book. That sucks.
I read your spoiler in Need Me. I would have been annoyed with that too. I might have to grab the first book one of these days. 🙂
The name Honey, I just can not
Sorry it didn’t wow you like the first. At least you got your HEAs. 😀
Sorry Make Me was your least favorite since you had previously really loved the characters. Thanks for sharing though – glad the characters all got their HEA too.
I don’t know if we can be friends anymore, Christy! Ahhh I loved all three of these. Sucks they ended up not working for ya 🙁
Och. Those prof/student romances can get very annoying really quick if not done right. Pass on Need Me, consider Make Me. 🙂
I’m sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy these as much as you had hoped. Still it sounds like overall an entertaining series. I just may need to check it out. 🙂
You win some, you lose some. Still you’re a warrior for still reading all three even if they were underwhelming
sorry to see they’re not all as good but I understand just that with the drama I confess.
It kind of sounds like I need to skip this one. It sounds like it’s way too much going on and way too much drama. Meh. Hope you’re next reads are great!
Sadly that’s the same issues I face with new adult too. The excess drama, lack of communication and it irks me. When it comes to new adult, I’ve yet to find an author who has an original idea when it comes to contemporary, did you find that with each book too, that maybe it.lost that shine because you has read it all before? I’m so sorry that these didn’t live up to the hype Christy, hopefully your next read knocks your socks off <3 fabulous reviews nonetheless.
I haven’t read any of Tessa Bailey her books, but I have them on my to-read list. I am sorry to hear your enjoyment dropped with each book, but it still sounds like you enjoyed the whole series. I am a fan of friends-to-lovers romances, so I like the sound of that in book 3, although from your review it sounds like the first two books were better. Great reviews!
Wow, that really sucks the next two books got worse. If characters annoy me, then I can’t finish the book. That’s the worst.
I read Need me, but I’m afraid I lost the review I wrote on paper… I’m going to read Make me soon, so I’ll probably read Need me again ! I remember liking it, but my memory is foggy – I might be reading tooooo many books too quickly, lol !
I didn’t enjoy Chase Me very much because of Roxie’s hard headed self. I still wanna read the rest of the series though. Sorry you didn’t like these very much. Great mini reviews!
Despite your enjoyment decreasing, it still sounds like a worthwhile series. At least you liked all the characters enough to want to give them a HEA.
