Sunday Post #139 (8/23/15) – The Fear Is Here!

Posted August 22, 2015 | 49 Comments

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It was a good, but busy week. My son is doing his college thing now and really likes his new XC teammates and coaches. The transition has actually gone well for me too.

It’s been hot and gross here thanks to our already crappy air quality and now the fires right above us. It’s crazy, all the fires here on the west coast. Keep all the people affected and those fighting them in your thoughts.

On the Blog

  • All Wound Up by Jaci Burton (review) – Fun and low in the angst department.
  • Bounce by Noelle August (review) – I love this series, especially this book.

Books Read

I’ve been working on The Drafter by Kim Harrison all week. I should finish it soon, but other things keep getting in the way. I’m really enjoying it, though!

Books Acquired

For Review:

Ugh, what happened? Six books for review, and I totally blame fellow bloggers for five of them. They were heavily influential in this influx. I love you guys, but sometimes you’re really bad for me. πŸ˜‰

Thanks, Ali!

None. So I guess it sort of balances out with the abundance of review books.

What I’m Watching

Okay, so it technically doesn’t premier until Sunday night, but you can bet that I’ll be watching Fear the Walking Dead! Who else is excited?

Have a great week!

  1. It really sucks the fires are so bad this year, it seems like every day a new west coast friend of mine will mention the air getting worse.

I’ll be watching Fear tonight as well! I’m really hoping it’s good, I don’t know if I can handle that kind of disappointment, lol.

Yeah, all the dryness out here is just a fire waiting to happen.

Dude, I know, I hope it’s good. I think it will be.

  2. So glad you both are adjusting. I have been watching updates on the fires and wishing some our rain would find its way to you. When A Scot Ties the Knot was so freakin good..I read it in one sitting..i kid you not. Enjoy. Hmm, we have a lot of the same books this week..not surprising at all..LOL

Seems like we’ve have fires going all summer, but now there’s three directly above us.

Are we the Thelma and Louise of book blogging?

      Pfft… please, it’s still early.

New characters and takes place on the west coast. It starts out during that time Rick was in a coma. I heard we may see a character or two from TWD, but it would’ve been before TWD timeline.

  3. Yay for you and your son! I’m glad that you guys transitioned well and he is enjoying his time and his peers in his college environment. I know I was a nervous wreck at first when I started (having been from the province and being new in a university in the freaking capital!), but once you’re comfortable enough, it’s really enjoyable πŸ˜‰ And I see a Tessa Dare book in your haul. I remember Rashika loving that one a lot so I can’t wait to get started on her books, too!

  4. Glad your son is getting settled in (and you too)! I didn’t love Blindness. I wanted to…especially after that cover. But there was just too much that had me rolling my eyes and sighing very heavily. Husband was actually frustrated with me for not DNFing it. Maybe you’ll enjoy it better than I did! Hope you have a great week!

  5. I’m so glad both your son and your transition to college has been smooth. It’s kind of a weird time for me. I’m definitely starting to feel the shift towards smaller family and empty nest and all that and I’ve still got a 5 year old! Your comment about other bloggers made me laugh. I can definitely blame other bloggers for quite a number of my books and Tessa Dare is one that a number of them have put on my list! Have a great week!

  6. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! I am so completely pumped for Fear the Walking Dead! I adore The Walking Dead so hopefully this one doesn’t disappoint! I really cannot wait for tonight! I didn’t do very well with not bringing books in to the house either but the ones you received look great so that is a positive! Enjoy!

Bloggers as book pushers, who knew? πŸ˜€

I’m glad both you and your son are settling in; that must be a rough transition for you. But, more reading time! πŸ˜€

Have a great week and stay safe!

  8. This is my first time taking part in The Sunday Post! Hi πŸ™‚

I can’t wait to read The Drafter! I need to get Sideswiped to jump into the world sooner rather than later.

All The Beautiful Brides sounds really good! I’ve added it to my wishlist.

Hi, Natalie! Glad you’re participating in the SP.

I highly suggest reading Sideswiped before The Drafter. Very highly suggest it. Once you start reading The Drafter, you’ll understand why.

  9. Glad the transition has gone well for both of you. Sorry about the fires and the air. The weather here finally looks to be really good in the upcoming week so I am hoping we end the summer strong. Always blame the bloggers for more books right??? Blindness is one that ended up on my wishlist so I hope to get soon. Have a great week!!

  10. I’m glad your son’s transition to college went well. For both of you!

I’m thinking I might try to watch Fear The Walking Dead if it appears on Australian TV screens soon!

  11. That must be scary with all those fires close by, we don’t get fires close by, but I saw someone I follow on facebook talk about the fires as well. Stay safe!

I am glad to hear your son’s transition to college went well for both of you. Other blgogers can certainly be a bad influence when it comes to adding new books to my to-read list. Scandal Never Sleeps looks really good! I hope you’ll have a great week!

  12. I’m glad the transition to college has gone well for you and your son! I found out my senior year of college from someone else that my mom cried all the way home after dropping me off my freshman year. πŸ™

Those fires are terrible. I remember the Bastrop fires of 2011 and how devastating they were to my area. I can’t imagine what they are like where you are. Y’all are all in my thoughts and prayers!
