Tucker Cassidy is going through a slump—but not on the field. It’s his dating life that’s suffering. After having a painful altercation involving his ex-girlfriend’s knee, Tucker is convinced it couldn’t get worse…until a gorgeous doctor comes to the rescue at his most embarrassing moment.
As the daughter of the owner of the St. Louis Rivers, Dr. Aubry Ross has been around jocks all her life. She knows the ins and outs of all their games, and she isn’t interested in playing.
When Tucker repeatedly lands in the hospital where she’s working, Aubry starts to think he’s getting injured just to see her. Tucker is both funny and sexy, and Aubry is pleasantly surprised to discover he actually respects her job.
When her father disapproves of their relationship, Aubry knows she’d rather lose Tucker than have him lose his job. But Tucker isn’t about to let threats of a trade get in the way of a game-changing love…
All Wound Up was a totally spur of the moment read. It’s the tenth book in the series and I haven’t read any of the previous books, so I didn’t even contemplate reading it at first. You know how I am about reading in order! That is, until I read some quotes from the book and knew I had to meet these characters. I am so glad I decided to go for it, because All Wound Up was such a fun book!
Five reason to read All Wound Up:
♥ Aubry and Tucker – I was hooked on these two. Both of them have very busy lives and decided to just go with the flow. Of course, that’s after some convincing from Tucker. He’s persistent and funny, which I love. Aubry is a very likeable, intelligent character, who keeps Tucker on his toes.
♥ They talk! There’s actually a lot of great dialogue happening in this book. I tend to get annoyed and bored with a bunch of rambling internal dialogue, so I was very happy with all the interaction between characters. All the witty conversation definitely ups the enjoyment factor.
♥ It’s pretty much angst free. I’m all for an angsty read at times, but Tucker and Aubry’s relationship was just a steady and natural progression, and that was so refreshing. Do not mistake that for boringness, though, because it’s far from it. There is a bit of drama, but it’s not the annoying kind. There’s also some pretty steamy stuff that goes on between them. Plus, their first date is a-freaking-dorable!
♥ Tucker’s family is reason enough to read All Wound Up and the rest of the series. It’s hilarious and beyond entertaining how much crap the brothers give each other. They can certainly banter with the best of them. You can imagine the hard time he gets being a baseball player in a family full of football players.
♥ Ahh, secondary characters. Tucker’s family is awesome, but there’s also a few other characters who stood out too. After getting a glimpse at these characters from previous books, I’m determined to know their stories!
There you have it. All Wound Up is a just an all-around good book, and a lot of fun.
“Great. I’ll be back in an hour and a half, and we’ll go get something to eat. Then we can talk some more. Or argue more if you’d like.”
“I don’t -”
But he’d pulled her against him and brushed his lips against hers. “I like arguing with you, Aubry. Let’s do that some more. But while we’re eating. I’m hungry. See you soon.”
——
“Uh-oh. That’s not good,” Grant said, crouching down beside him. “Did you hit your head?”
“I don’t know. Maybe, when I hit the ground.”
By then Katrina and Anya were out there surrounding him.
“What happened?” Katrina asked.
“He can’t run for shit,” Barrett said. “That’s why he plays baseball.”
Ohhh, you read so many sexy, sexy covers Christy. Aubry and Tucker sound like a fabulous couple, and hooray to no added angst or drama. That’s the first thing that usually spoils romance reads for me. So glad you enjoyed this one, will you be going back and reading the previous books now too? Fabulous review! <3
That really says something that book 10 was good in a series!! This sounds like a lot of fun will be checking this one out for sure – Great review!
I love that they talked, Christy! I wish more book couples would talk.
I know Kim likes this author quite a bit too and seeing that you liked a book by her means I need to check her out too. ASAP!
Lovely review!
I’ll be honest, angst-free is all I’m good for these days. And when it also includes enough quality dialogue and two great characters, well, sign me up. I’m glad it can function as a standalone because I’m most definitely intrigued.
Angst-free, lots of fun, good characters, everything that I need ! Thanks for sharing 🙂
*Gasp* You read this out of order? Where is Christy and what have you done with her?!
Just kidding. I love when you can do that and it works and it definitely sounds like it worked in this. *sigh* another freaking series I need to read. Stop adding to my pile!
A HA!!!!! See what you would have missed if you tried to go back and read all ten books, or even THOUGHT about reading the 10 previous books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I rest my case…
… adding this to my TBR 😉
I haven’t read anything from this series either, but I drool over the covers every time I see one. I’ll just have to dive in like you did. Wonderful review!
Hello muscles — nice to meet you! LOL Great cover and synopsis. I think my organs would shut down if I tried to start with book ten in a series, but I’m glad it worked out for you. Love me some witty banter, too 🙂
Hahaha, THEY TALK!
That’s good, I need a break from constant boinking and fighting and more boinking.
Well, there’s some boinking, but not all the fighting and going back-and-forth.
Yay, glad this book is such a great read, the rest of the series is too. I’m not caught up yet but the books I’ve read, I’ve loved so I’m definitely looking forward to getting to it!
You rebel, jumping in at book 10! I love how funny it sounds and angst free is a refreshing change! Sounds good ?
YEAH CHRISTY!!! I’m so glad you decided to give this a go even though you haven’t read the other books. It stands alone perfectly well:) I adored Tucker’s family, there’s something about brotherly banter that just makes me smile. And yay for characters who communicate! That’s one of my favorite things about this series – everyone is mature (without being too perfect) and talks things out.
Woohoo! I’m glad you jumped in 😀 It’s really been a fun series. So many great characters and families in this one 😀
#10? I’ve been wanting to read these since #1. I didn’t realize 10 have passed me by already. I need to get started. This sounds like a good one to get started on so perhaps… 🙂 I do love low angst!
I love it when a spur of the moment read turns out to be a great read!
This sounds like a fun read Christy… lacking on angst can be a good thing, and it sounds like there are some good characters introduced.
I have this and was worried it wouldn’t work as standalone. Guess I will jump in
I feel like it’s been forever since I read a book where I really loved the main characters. This sounds like one I would like.
I still have not tried Burton yet, but I really want to. I love the sound of this one 😀 I’m glad to hear the dialogue is awesome because one of my latest reads had the weirdest issues with dialogue.
Gosh. I can’t believe this is 10th already! MUST. Catch. Up.
You sold me on this book. Now my wallet will suffer but it will be worth it. Great review!
This one sounds like it was filled with terrific witty banter and lots of great dialogue Christy! Thanks for the review, so glad you enjoyed it.
Oh my, book 10 already! I am so far behind with this series.
I’m pleased that you enjoyed this, it sounds great and angst free is always appealing. I’m looking forward to meeting Aubrey and Tucker!
A great review.
Fun & angstfree- yay! Will check this out, thanks for sharing. 🙂
