The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It was a pretty good week. There were a couple days, Monday especially, where I was so focused and lost in my work all day that I had that ‘what the hell happened’ feeling when I finished. It was a little disorienting, like no way 8+ hours had passed. Maybe that’s why I have a headache now, my brain is in recovery.
I made a list of 30 books a couple months ago and made it my mission to read them, so they’re getting top priority between review books. I’m down to 21, so I’m making progress. I’ll make a new one once I finish these.
Did you hear? Devil in the White City by Erik Larson is finally going to make it to the big screen and it’ll star Leonardo DiCaprio as H.H. Holmes! I’m so excited! I love this book. Have any of you read it?
Oh! And if any of you receive unsubscribe emails with my address, don’t worry, I’m just switching emails I use to subscribe with. Again.

You guessed it, all cheap prices. They’re all $1.99 or less, including some free.
Heads up:
Dirty Angels is free and Succubus Blues is $1.99 for a limited time. I think you can add the audio cheap too, and the audio is fantastic!
Have a great week!
Oh, you got Forbidden, lucky lady.
I haven’t heard of The Devil in the White City but I’ll keep an eye out for it; I do like Leonardo DiCaprio.
Congrats on getting your books read! It feels good to read non-review books now and then.:)
I hope Forbidden is good. I haven’t read the previous series, so we’ll see.
What?! Oh man, you should read DitWC.
I do want to read The Last Time We Say Goodbye at some point – I’m pretty sure my library has a copy.
I have not read The Devil in the White City, but that’s awesome it’s being made into a film!
I’ve heard TTWSG is really good, so hopefully that turns out to be true for me too. You should read TDitWC!
Ohh exciting! I will check it out. I mean, diCaprio? Niiiiice. Before Ever After! That book is so good. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
Happy reading, Christy! And maybe lay off the ‘shrooms, eh? You might remember your name once in a while. Lol.
I think I initially put Before Ever After on my wishlist because if you, so it better be good. π And if ‘shrooms is what can get me focus like that, then damn, I need a bulk supply.
I LOVE that feeling when time flies by and you’ve been completely absorbed in something. It really only happens when I’m enjoying something (or writing or reading).
A lot of books I haven’t heard of there and I’m sure you’ll love them!
Deb
I don’t get that way often, but I love when I do. It means things get done! π
While sometimes it’s good when time flies (especially when we’re at work!) it’s less good when it ends up giving us a headache. I hope you’re feeling better now, Christy!
Your new books look great – I loved The Last Time We Say Goodbye, and needed tissues for that one, and of course, Richelle Mead is my queen π
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.
I’ll definitely have the tissues ready!
I like the idea of making a list like that. I think I’m going to try a short version of that as I’m great at getting through review books but others not so much, I just keep putting them aside. So maybe a list will help.
Enjoy your new books. Before Ever After looks cute.
I hope your brain recovers π Lots of great books! I actually just bought Before Ever After because that cover was just so pretty – Thanks for sharing! Hope you enjoy all your new books and have a great week!
Devil in the White City was an awesome book, but I am still shuddering years and years after reading it. I don’t know if I could watch a movie. [[shudder]]
Awww, girl I hope you feel better! I’m fighting one today, too.
I actually saw the announcement about Devil on Friday on a newsletter I get but I didn’t get the significance. NOW I get it!! The book sounds like it’s perfect for my mom and sis-in-law (I’m in a rainbows kind of mood right now) so I’m going to push it on them!! My mom collects gargoyles, if that explains anything…
I really need to make a list like that. But I’m such a mood reader. It’s awful sometimes. Yet, I’ve found that if I push myself to read a book I’m not in the mood for at the time it just makes reading that book painful and I’m more likely to DNF it. But it’d be worth a shot. YAY for getting a ton of work done. Sorry about the headache though. And I really need to read more of the Georgina Kincaid series. Have a great week!

I do love finding the freebies and the under $5.00 books for kindle as well. It looks like you got some interesting books this week as well. Enjoy them.

I had a few days like that this week where they were over before I knew it. LOL I’ve not read Devil in the White City. Better go check it out. Got a feeling it’s my kind of read!
I have never heard of the devil in the white city but now I will have to check it out. The last time we say goodbye I really want to get my hands on. Happy Reading.
When I saw your title: “The Devil is Coming”, I thought you were coming to Idaho to get me. I have a copy of that book but haven’t gotten around to reading it, yet. Also want to start the Georgia Kincaid Series on audio, I love Richelle Mead. Anyway don’t miss me too much until I get back full time!
Sounds like you are making great progress on getting some of “your” books read! Good for you! I’ve been unofficially doing the same with my audio reads and catching up on some series books!
Have a great week Christy!
Well, I just bought Dirty Angels, Dirty Deeds and The Last Time We Say Goodbye π I can’t wait to start these. I actually haven’t read that book but I’ll have to check it out if it’s being made into a movie.
I’ve had those days where I look up and all the time has gone by. I feel like I need a massage and a glass of wine, if I were a wine drinker.
I haven’t read Devil in the White City but I want to. I’m definitely curious about the movie. I know a little bit about H.H. Holmes and curious to see what kind of job Leonardo DiCaprio does portraying him. I love the idea of making a list of 30 books. I may have to borrow that idea. I have so many it gets a little overwhelming choosing which one to read. Have a great week!
Yeah definitely need to give the brain some down time. Whew! Yay for making progress on your list! I made one of my current review books and trying to whittle those down. Hard work!
Add Devil in the White City to reading list π stay cool my friend
Christy, I need to take a page out of your book! I should make a list of books to make top priority between review copies. I was thinking about a TBR jar, but there are just too many categories I think it’d be a nightmare. I want to try it, but maybe I’ll set it up in segments of priority lists…that might work! Happy reads!
Thicker than Blood sounds good, hope you enjoy and have a great week.
Sounds like an exciting week! I’ve not read the book but I’m really excited for you π I hope the movie is just as awesome for you π
I love that you’re reading the Georgian Kincaid series! It’s one of my all time favourites so I hope you’re enjoying it π
Have a great week,
Amy x
I picked up Thicker than Blood too, I have heard lots of good things about it.
I hear you about work too, my days have just flown by, which is both good and bad.
Well done in getting books knocked off your list and enjoy those new books.
Have a great week!
I’ve never read it but now I kind of want to! I’ll have to look it up, I don’t even know what it is about!
So many books I’m not familiar with, but they all sound good and the covers are so nice π
Enjoy and have a great week!
I LOVED DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY!!! OMG, thanks for the info! Leo will make a great H. H. Holmes. I originally picked that book up because of the cover, and it was on B&N’s Recommended Reads table. I wasn’t sure it would something I’d like, but soon discovered I couldn’t put it down.
Also thanks for the notice about Richelle Mead’s Georgia Kincaid series. I’ve been wanting to start that. The second book is also $1.99.
OMG, you did not just say that. Devil in the While City into a movie? America, Fuck yeah! I am so freaking excited. And Leo? I can see it actually.
I’ve been desperately trying to read more of my own books too Christy, rather than just review copies of late. I find it’s the easiest way to fight off that book funk or blogger burn. Ooh, I haven’t heard of that book, but I do enjoy me some Leo. Thanks for sharing Christy and good luck with the reading list <3
Your work week sounds like my last couple! 4:00 rolls around and I’m thrilled because I get to leave and baffled because somehow it’s 4:00. Congrats on whittling down your list of 30. I should probably do that. I’m just not disciplined enough to stick to it.
Have a great week!
I haven’t read THE devil in The White City but I’ll look it up now that you’ve mentioned it π Have a fab week!
I read Devil in the White City about 5 years ago. It was really good ,but so creepy.
I keep losing hours too… but the kids are at school, and I am being lazy… reading or blogging… but time just… GOES!
I haven’t read Devil in the White City… but having Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie… I will watch it!
The Cathy Clamp book sounds interesting but it might have too much PNR and not enough UF for my tastes. I might keep an eye out and see if I can snag a free copy somewhere.
Great haul! Cheap books are awesome! I really need to check White Trash Zombie.
Good luck with your list!
Ohh i had missed that freebie
YAY for Succubus Blues, it’s one of my favourite UF series ever!
