top reads 2015 so far

We’re halfway through the year! Even though my reading has been off for the past couple months, I’m still on track to reach my goal of 120 books. I’ve read 69. There has already been some great books released this year, but I know there are a few I’m high anticipating that will most likely make my end of the year list.

These six books all have that extra something that earned my love. I’m only including books that were published in 2015, but I have a batch at the bottom of those that weren’t.

sevenevesblack iris
Seveneves is on epic journey that spans 5000 years! It’s not a book I’ll soon forget.
Black Iris is dark and twisted with gorgeous writing. It isn’t only a favorite of the year, it’s an all-time favorite.
fuel the firegolden son
Ah, Fuel the Fire … I adore this series to pieces. The tremendous growth of characters I love so much makes me extremely happy.
Golden Son is an absolutely phenomenal sequel to Red Rising!

Bringing Home the Bad Boy was a surprise. No way did I expect to love it so much, but I do.
When Joss Met Matt is the ultimate friends-to-lovers book that I fell completely in love with.

The books below are top read for me this year too, but were published before 2015.

  1. Oh YES to Black Iris!! I read that one this year and holy crap, it was AMAZING!! For me, it has also become one of my all time favorite books. I read Unteachable and while I thought the writing was great, I just didn’t care much for the characters or the ending. Just too much romanticization of a student teacher relationship. Another amazing book I read this year was I’ll Give You The Sun. So good!!!

  2. So. I haven’t read any of these, how sad is that! I have read and loved On Dublin Street and Heir of Fire though, so I’m not completely out of the loop. Only mostly. Definitely hoping to get to Red Rising and Golden Son this year!

  3. I love this!!! Yes to all these books! I’m so happy Unteachable and Black Iris are both on here (they are probably two of my favourite NA books, ever) also, I bought the Martian yesterday for Father’s Day and I’m looking forward to reading the copy I bought my father! Ha!
