The bad girl who stole his heart …
Valerie Willis has done it all: tattoos, one-night stands, even strip poker. And now she can add getting a messy public divorce to that list. Back in her hometown of Rock Canyon, Val just wants to bury her head and wait for the scandal to pass. But when she suddenly finds herself at a singles' weekend face-to-face with former flame Justin Silverton, hiding from her heart—and the sexy Marine—won't be that simple.
Is just too good to let go …
It's been ten years since Justin kissed Val, but he still remembers the way they just seemed to … fit. Since then he's served his country and helped his father keep their ranch intact, but he's never forgotten Val or her wild ways. So when a twist of fate brings him the chance to chase her across state lines and spend a weekend winning her heart, Justin's all in. Because when he sees something he wants, he fights for it. And he's ready to fight for the right to call this bad girl his one and only.
What’s this? I read the third book in a series first? That’s right, I rebelled against my OCD. Believe me, there was much anxiety involved. I received the fourth book for review, and was going to start with it until I discovered the main character’s sister is the MC of this book. Therefore I had to at least start with Bad Girls Don’t Marry Marines.
Five reasons I liked it:
– I do love the bad girls! I was expecting Valerie to be a wild one, but turns out her bad girl days are behind her. Oh, but the reputation has stuck. She’s 26 and more mature now after a messy high-profile divorce, but she can still be a handful. She can still be a spitfire, which I really liked.
– Justin is a hottie ex-Marine working on the family farm. Let’s take a moment with the vision of him all hot a sweaty out on a tractor … ahem, anyway. He’s a nice guy and a total gentlemen. While he did feel a bit smothering at times, he did push and help her get that rebellious spark back.
– I enjoy a good second chance romance. The first time around, they had one night of fun when they were teens, but they had an amazing connection. Ten years later, that attraction is still there, but there are forces working against them. One of those forces being her douchebag dad. Their journey was both fun and frustrating, with some big bumps along the way.
– I adore all the sisterly love! Val has two sisters who are considered “bad girls” too, and are often referred to as “those Willis sisters”. I love how they are there for each other, and can’t wait to see more of them in the next book.
– Gus, Val’s bulldog. Seriously, how could someone not love him?
Bad Girls Don’t Marry Marines was a pretty quick, enjoyable read. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
YAY i’m happy you liked this book ,, i hardly find any book about bad girls but lots about bad boys 🙂
I was sold at the word “Marine”. That’s all I really need to know Christy! Love that Val is a spitfire, I like my heroines to have a little sass in them:) And she has a bulldog, which makes her pretty awesome in my book. I’ll be picking this one up in the not-too distant future!
I love when female characters are “bad” LOL. When heroines have a wild streak to them or basically break the status quo any way possible they are immediately my favourite. glad you liked this one Christy!
Hot ex-marine on a tractor? Sold!
No seriously, I need to read this. I like that this is about a (reformed) bad girl for a change and not a bad boy. This sounds like so much fun!
Thanks for once again adding to my pile. 😉 Have a wonderful weekend Christy!!
I’ve read plenty of books that have featured bad boys, but girls seem to be a fairly rare occurrence, at least in the genres I consume anyway. Second chance romances have been growing on me lately, maybe it’s an age thing, either way… SOLD! I’ll probably start with the first installment though. 😛
Oh this sounds like a lot of fun, Christy! An ex-bad girl and a hottie Marine AND an adorable pet? Well, I’m in!
I love second chance romances so I think I would really enjoy this.
Lovely review!
What you read a book out of order. I can’t believe that. See it is nice to color out of the lines every once in awhile.
It makes me feel like I don’t have full control, like I’m missing something. But I guess it’s okay every so often.
Thank god there’s no series arc! What a relief! This oddly reminds me of MHarte’s series in some ways. In terms of tone maybe?
Yeah, it’s kind of along the lines of her series. Harte’s is a bit better though. I my opinion, anyway.
LOL, I feel like I need to read series in order, too. This sounds right up my alley! I love the sound of the bad girl theme and even better there’s an ex-Marine, woot!
I really liked book one in the series then book two was a disaster for me (hidden baby and a grrrry heroine) and I couldn’t finish it and I’d been so hesitant to try this one. I’m all over it now though. Yay!
Oh hello. I love me some Marines. Hoorah.
You read the #3 book of a series first? I don’t even KNOW you anymore!!!
😀
I grabbed this one at one point so I am excited to try it.
Girl… I think you sold me at “a hottie ex-Marine working on the family farm” This sounds like a fun read!
