Since being cursed with unique abilities, Celia Wird and her three sisters have fought the most bloodthirsty preternaturals in the Lake Tahoe region. But Celia’s greatest threat is someone she would have never suspected: Anara, a werewolf Elder who has allowed his hatred for Celia to spiral out of control. In a play for dominance, Anara tortures Celia and gives her an ultimatum: sever her mate bond with pureblood were Aric—or Anara will kill everyone she loves.
From the instant they met, Celia and Aric have shared an attraction that cannot be tamed. So keeping Aric away is impossible, and Aric would sooner die than allow anyone to hurt the woman he loves. Misha, master vampire and Celia’s sworn protector, also finds his way into the chaos, seeking blood from those who have harmed her.
Now Celia and her sisters are caught in the middle of a war driven by lust, fueled by hatred, and destined to end in tragedy. For Anara is a force to be reckoned with, and he will not succumb without robbing Celia of those who hold her heart.
Seriously, Cecy, was that necessary? Did you really feel the need to put me through the emotional wringer? Oh, who am I kidding, I freaking enjoyed the hell out of it.
I was very excited to dive into A Cursed Bloodline after the bombshell ending of the last book, but there was also some trepidation. I was afraid of what our Celia would be put through this time. Turns out my fear was warranted, because Celia goes through hell. But the thing is, she’s a fighter and always comes back stronger.
A lot transpires in this book. Celia is put in a deadly situation by nasty Anara. She must sever all ties from Aric, or those she loves will die. The guy is a serious ass. He threatens her, beats her up, and even puts her sanity into question. But worst of all … he goes after my Bren. Yeah, Anara definitely needs to die!
What Celia and Aric go through is heartbreaking. He needs her more than ever, but she has to push him away in order to save him. The road they go down is rough and ugly. While dealing with that, Celia gets entangled in something nefarious that threatens to destroy someone else close to her. Believe me, Celia is not having a good time.
And of course there is Misha and his family of vampires. I get the biggest kick out of them! They would drive me crazy if I had to deal with them, but it is super entertaining when Celia has too. Edith with her unicorn obsession is without a doubt my favorite. But I really like the evolution of Misha and Celia’s relationship, what a loyal friend she is to him.
Celia’s sisters are very much involved in this story, and have their own personal issues to deal with. But no matter what, they’re there for each other. What I really love, though, is how the girls and Danny handled stuff without Celia. It showed that they are competent and strong, not just Celia’s sidekicks.
When it comes down to it, A Cursed Blood is another great installment in the Weird Girls series.
I really need to start reading this series, I’ve already got the first book ! Thanks for sharing, Christy, great review 😉
sound like a good book, i had the first book for ages now but didn’t start reading it for some reason .. i really should start reading this one soon 🙂
lovely Review 😀
This series has come so highly recommended by a number of bloggers that it’s seriously ridiculous that I haven’t managed to squeeze in a single Weird Girls book yet, and now that Cecy Robson is up to the fourth installment I’m getting discouraged. I demand that an 8th day to the week be added just for reading!!!
Your review was sooooo much better than mine!! I stayed entirely vague about all the crap that went down. But HOLY WRINGER!!! I had to ask Cecy the biggest question of all because I had to know…. I got my answer 😉 I seriously must have the next one NOW!!!
Hey, Christy! Thank you for the wonderful feature and review. You’re right, this is a very dark and emotional read. In the words of my one of my readers, “The Catholic schoolgirls were a Godsend.” I really needed them to lighten parts of the book. And yes, Edith and her unicorn obsession was a tremendous help. Personally, I’d stake them if I had to live with them. But, bless their hearts they do love Celia in their own twisted, highly inappropriate, borderline psychotic, totally dysfunctional way. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to leave a comment. Happy Holidays! <3 Cecy
I’ve been hearing a lot about this book and the fact that it’s pretty brutal. I feel like it’s going to rip my heart out when I get to it (which I can’t wait to do, I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this series!). So glad this was another fantastic installment for you Christy!
Gahh! I need to catch up on this series soon, Christy. I read the firs book and loved it. I’m a little nervous about what Cecy makes Aric and Celia go through, but I’m glad I was forewarned. Lovely review!
WHY HAD I NOT HEARD OF THIS SERIES BEFORE, CHRISTY?
I feel like if I start it now i’ll just become so emotionally invested to the world and the characters. All your praises make me feel like i’m seriously missing out. Lovely review!
This is not my first time hearing of this series, and I’ve been tempted to start it. This one sounds like a real emotional wringer…
I have only listened to first 2 books – I think I need to pick this right back up 🙂 Thanks for reminding me, I enjoyed the first 2 books and I ahve no idea how it fell off my radar.
Thanks Christy!
I freaking loved this book but boy! Is Cecy mean to put is through so freaking much.
I can’t wait for the last book. It is going to be so sad to see her story over but at least we will get the rest of the sister’s stories to tide us over for awhile.
You always love books that put you through a sweet torture. I’m surprise you haven’t made an appointment with a therapist yet. 🙂
Glad you loved it, Christy.
I keep forgetting about this series…but I totally need to check it out!
I liked this one but it was so intense and emotional. I hate that big dramatic thing with the were council after everything. I can’t wait for the last book.
I’ll be starting this tomorrow and I am so nervous. All I’ve been reading so far is how emotional this was, the last one did a solid number on me. I’m scared!
It is awesome to see that this author keeps you in that emotional wringer! This series sounds awesome, and it seems I am missing out! Great review girl!
Wow, I would buy the book just for the cover-it’s beautiful. Celia seems like a great kick-ass heroine and the book sounds like smth I might enjoy. Thanks, adding it!
OMG, this is crazy. I could swear I read the first book. I read the blurb but I am still not sure. And I never forget a book. So maybe I haven’t. It’s driving me crazy. Sounds like a great series though.
Oh I haz a sad face Christy. I really do. I’ve still not tried hers. :/ Must read faster!
I really enjoyed this one, so intense, so dark! I can’t wait for more.
