Since being cursed with unique abilities, Celia Wird and her three sisters have fought the most bloodthirsty preternaturals in the Lake Tahoe region. But Celia’s greatest threat is someone she would have never suspected: Anara, a werewolf Elder who has allowed his hatred for Celia to spiral out of control. In a play for dominance, Anara tortures Celia and gives her an ultimatum: sever her mate bond with pureblood were Aric—or Anara will kill everyone she loves.
From the instant they met, Celia and Aric have shared an attraction that cannot be tamed. So keeping Aric away is impossible, and Aric would sooner die than allow anyone to hurt the woman he loves. Misha, master vampire and Celia’s sworn protector, also finds his way into the chaos, seeking blood from those who have harmed her.
Now Celia and her sisters are caught in the middle of a war driven by lust, fueled by hatred, and destined to end in tragedy. For Anara is a force to be reckoned with, and he will not succumb without robbing Celia of those who hold her heart.
Seriously, Cecy, was that necessary? Did you really feel the need to put me through the emotional wringer? Oh, who am I kidding, I freaking enjoyed the hell out of it.
I was very excited to dive into A Cursed Bloodline after the bombshell ending of the last book, but there was also some trepidation. I was afraid of what our Celia would be put through this time. Turns out my fear was warranted, because Celia goes through hell. But the thing is, she’s a fighter and always comes back stronger.
A lot transpires in this book. Celia is put in a deadly situation by nasty Anara. She must sever all ties from Aric, or those she loves will die. The guy is a serious ass. He threatens her, beats her up, and even puts her sanity into question. But worst of all … he goes after my Bren. Yeah, Anara definitely needs to die!
What Celia and Aric go through is heartbreaking. He needs her more than ever, but she has to push him away in order to save him. The road they go down is rough and ugly. While dealing with that, Celia gets entangled in something nefarious that threatens to destroy someone else close to her. Believe me, Celia is not having a good time.
And of course there is Misha and his family of vampires. I get the biggest kick out of them! They would drive me crazy if I had to deal with them, but it is super entertaining when Celia has too. Edith with her unicorn obsession is without a doubt my favorite. But I really like the evolution of Misha and Celia’s relationship, what a loyal friend she is to him.
Celia’s sisters are very much involved in this story, and have their own personal issues to deal with. But no matter what, they’re there for each other. What I really love, though, is how the girls and Danny handled stuff without Celia. It showed that they are competent and strong, not just Celia’s sidekicks.
When it comes down to it, A Cursed Blood is another great installment in the Weird Girls series.
