Rachel Morgan's come a long way from the clutzy runner of Dead Witch Walking. She's faced vampires and werewolves, banshees, witches, and soul-eating demons. She's crossed worlds, channeled gods, and accepted her place as a day-walking demon. She's lost friends and lovers and family, and an old enemy has become something much more.
But power demands responsibility, and world-changers must always pay a price. That time is now.
To save Ivy's soul and the rest of the living vampires, to keep the demonic ever after and our own world from destruction, Rachel Morgan will risk everything.
**Spoiler free for the whole series**
Noooooooooooooooooooo!
It’s over. I can’t believe The Hollows has come to an end. As sad as it makes me, and even though I want to go to my happy place and pretend it isn’t happening, it feels right, you know? The series began ten years ago, and it has been part of my life for about nine. It’s one of the longest commitments I’ve ever had, so it’s definitely bittersweet.
Not going to lie, I was a little afraid of what Kim had in store for us, but I should know better. The Witch With No Name is the perfect finale. I loved it so much!
Rachel has really come a long way. Showing growth in her relationships and friendships, but most importantly growth within herself. It makes me smile to think back about all that she’s been through, good and bad. She always came through tougher and stronger, though. And man, has this girl been kicked down on many occasions.
We’ve met and fell in love with so many great characters along the way, and had to say goodbye to some too. Now we have to say goodbye to everyone. How depressing!
I can’t even express how wonderful it was to see how everything came together. Not just in this one book, but as the series as a whole. The thing that I love the most about it though, is the friendships. They are the core of this series, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
I know I’m a bit biased since The Hollows is the first urban fantasy series I read and holds a special place in my heart, but it is the best!! If you haven’t started reading it yet, you need to.
Now, I shall try to move on. Don’t worry about me though, I’ll be okay.
The Hollows
I even get sentimental when looking at how much the covers have evolved and what they represent.
This was amazing and satisfying. I will muss these characters
I can’t even bring myself to start the book… ME?! The one who goes to all the signings. Who has 3 tour t-shirts and goobs of swag…
sad…
Great non-spoilery review, girl!!!! Thank you!!!!!
Girl, reviewing the final installment in a series without spoilers is crazy hard. You’ve got mad skillz! And, the slackers like myself who haven’t even STARTED The Hollows yet (*dunks*) appreciate it! At least now I know that Harrison went out on a high note, because otherwise I don’t think I could bring myself to read all 13 books knowing that the ending sucked. Thanks for sharing!
This series sounds so good! I really appreciate your spoiler-free review of this one.
I love that so many people loved the ending, which lets face it, seems rare these days. I so need to get caught up on this series. I don’t think I made it past book three.
The ends are so sad and I’m so behind with this one. I really need to read book 7! I have it but well I need more time.
I love this series SO much and so I let myself get behind on purpose. Now everyone else doesn’t have more to read and I have a few yet. I’m really sad for it to end though. 🙁
I have no idea how you managed to stay with this series for nine years! *collects jaw from floor* I wouldn’t be able to do that! Did you never got annoyed at the sheer length of it? or the wait inbetween books? I’m happy you enjoyed the ending though and got your closure 🙂
Yeah! We are twins today. I loved this series so much. I didn’t start it until 2010 and when I did I binge read the first seven books in a month. I love how much the characters have grown and the friendships and the romance. One of the best romances ever. I need to get a final copy to read that Epilogue.
Oh man. One of these days, I’m going to put Kim Harrison’s books on my TBR. I don’t think I own a single one. :/
Thank you for the spoiler-free review! I’ve read the first book twice, and learnt of the second, but keep getting hung up before I get further. I’m looking forward to continuing soon, and hope I love Rachel’s adventures as much as you have.
I can’t believe it has come to end either! And I still haven’t finish book 1..LOL I’m glad it was a satisfying ending, this makes my commitment to continue a lot stronger.
Thanks Christy 🙂
I can’t believe it is ending. This was like one of my first original series when I started reading.
I am totally 3 books behind because of stupid life, but I will read the rest soon.
Now that the last book is out, I think it’s time to get back into this series Christy! I was worried after some of the tragic events earlier in the series (Kisten! *sobs*) that this series just might be too brutal for me as I do NOT handle character deaths well. I’m so glad to see this was a satisfying conclusion to the series as a whole though, that definitely makes me want to try these again:)
I have this uf series on my tbr-list for a long time. Maybe it’s time to give it a go when all books are finally out :). Glad you enjoyed the last one, even if it made you sad it’s the last one *hugs.*
I so need to catch up on this series ! Anyway I’m glad the ending is good – contrarily to some others I won’t name 😉
I need to try this series out again, I have the second one and I might actually get through them quicker now that the whole series is out. I’m glad it was a satisfying conclusion for you!
Merarg! I still have not started these. I feel like such a reader girl failure. lol She’s going to be in town tomorrow for a signing. I’m gonna try to go to it. Hopefully it’ll get me motivated to get these started 🙂
It is always great to see a series wrap up well and it sounds like Kim Harrison has done it perfectly. She has drawn you into her world and you love the characters. Fantastic review Christy!!
