Celia Wird shouldn’t possess the ability to transform into a tigress. Her three sisters should never be able to burst into flames, heal wounds, or transform common objects into deadly weapons. And yet they do.
Before they were born, the Wird Sisters were cursed by a spell that was intended to destroy them, not endow them with extraordinary powers. The sisters’ magic is untamed and explosive at best, and time is running out for them to take command.
Vampires have targeted Celia’s sweet, tragically human ex-boyfriend Danny. The sisters rush to his aid, but in order to take down the vamps, first they must face their dark past and break a spell that’s screwing up their powers. Except this curse wasn’t meant to be broken . . . and the witch who cast it isn’t done toying with them yet.
I adore the Weird Girls Series! I got pretty excited when I saw A Cursed Awakened took us back to before the girls moved to Tahoe, and we learn more about their curse. I really enjoyed it!
Cecy takes us on a wild ride filled with vampires and magic. In order to save Danny’s father, Celia and her sisters must learn about the curse that gave them their supernateral powers. It’s the key to unlocking their full potential and being able to control what they do.
It was interesting seeing the girls at this point in their life and getting some insight to the origin of the curse. Also their first encounter with vampires. And man, are they one crazy bunch!
In true Cecy form, there is plenty of action and excitement that kept me fully engaged the entire time.
I often prefer reading prequels after I’ve at least read the first book, and usually suggest that to others. However, A Cursed Awakened is actually a nice introduction to the series if you haven’t started it already.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store for everyone next!
Weird Girls Series
I agree this was fabulous and definitely would be a great prequel even though it isn’t labeled as much.
I adore this series!!
I liked this too, and I especially loved seeing the girls before all the romantic drama. This curse of theirs is very interesting so it was great to find out more about it.
Great review.
I am glad to see you enjoyed this, Christy! I’ve had my eye on this series for a while and plan on starting.. as soon as some of the romantic drama is resolved (I’ll feel too jumpy otherwise taking every hint as something indicating a love triangle).
I think I might read the prequel soon though.. just to keep my curiosity appeased.
Lovely review, Christy!! 😀
And I never heard of this series, silly me ! I’m going to remedy that now 🙂
I agree I loved it and I can’t wait to read more!
I was going to ask if this one, despite being a prequel, was better off read after the first book in the series. Sometimes that’s definitely the case, but I’m glad to know this would be the perfect place to start. Really looking forward to giving this series a try Christy!
This is an author I haven’t tried yet, but I’ve heard you and some others often saying how good she is. *sigh* I need to catch up.
So exciting! I’m glad you enjoyed it, now my waiting for the audio is a little bit more agonizing..LOL Thanks!..LOL
Sounds like a good one and I should pick it up before I start the series. 🙂
Yes, I liked that this was a prequel of sorts as well. It was fun to go back and see the girls before. I just got my copy of Book Four yesterday so excited.
I haven’t read the books yet but I enjoyd this prequel and want to read the books.
I have a few of the books in my tbr and I really need to get to them! This sounds like a novella I don’t want to miss.
I wish we knew more about WHY they were cursed, that part still is not clear to me but you are on point, it is a great novella!
Awesome review Christy, and you know I love it!
I haven\’t read any of the books in this series, but I have read great things about it. It is nice to see that the prequel was done right in this case! Fab review!
Oh that’s good to hear. I’m usually the same and read them after the rest of them. I haven’t started these and for some reason just haven’t gotten to them. Maybe a short and sweet intro will do it for me 🙂
Ditto (mine’s tomorrow – tee, hee)!!!!!! I’m still haunted by the ceiling of the garage scene (blech!!!!!) We should start a club or something 😉
I love these supernatural reads and I’m glad you found one that you enjoy Christy!
Sorry that I am a little behind in making the rounds, Christy. But, better late than never, right? I have yet to give Cecy Robson’s Weird Girls a whirl, so I think this prequel will be a good way for me to sample her writing without having to commit to a full length book. Wonderful review!
Not familiar with this series (surprise!). But this is the second review of this novella that pretty much sang its praises. 🙂
I have not heard of this series but it sounds like something I would love. Great review..might check out this little prequel and see if I like it. 🙂
