When it comes to love there’s no such thing as conventional.
Everyone thinks Colton Neely is special.
Lilly Evans just thinks he’s fascinating.
Once friends when they were younger, their bond is cut short due to her accident prone nature and they go their separate ways. Years later, they meet again and Lilly learns that there is something special about the boy she once knew, but she has no idea what it all means. And she’s not sure if she’s ready to find out.
When he walks through the corridor of her school the first day of her senior year, she knows that it’s time to get to know the real Colton Neely. The more she learns, the deeper she falls.
Their friendship grows into love, even as Colton does not express it in words. But one decision threatens to break down the world that Lilly has tried so hard to integrate into and she must figure out if the relationship can survive if they are apart.
Wow, what a truly wonderful story! Jumping Puddles surprised me. I thought I was going to get your run of the mill love story, so I wasn’t expecting how beautiful and different it was. This is a pretty short book, only around 120 pages, but man, does it pack a punch.
This book is Lily telling her story of how she fell in love with Colton. It is a heartfelt journey that takes you through many feels.
Lily is such a great girl with a huge heart. Usually the whole being accident prone thing is annoying, but it totally worked for Lily and was actually really funny. Seriously, her patience and love for Colton was so touching and sweet. She saw Colton for who he was, and that made me love her all the more.
Colton … oh, this boy! He is an exceptional artist, and he happens to have Asperger’s Syndrome. The author did an amazing job with this aspect of the story. I’ll be honest, I love his bluntness, lack of filter, and the way he is so literal. I can’t help but to be a little in love with Colton myself.
These two, their relationship is absolutely beautiful. It’s no piece of cake and has its struggles, but what relationship doesn’t? It was, however, incredibly easy to feel Lily’s love for Colton. They may have to express their feelings a little differently, but there is no doubt about how deeply they care for each other.
So yes, I loved Puddle Jumping! It’s such a touching story, and definitely a must-read.
“May I come in?” I whispered and he tilted his head to look me over.
“Did you forget something?”
I laughed nervously and took a deep breath. “I snuck in the window. I wanted to see you.”
“You should have used the front door.” He was still just staring at me.
How was I supposed to explain? “I know I should have, but I didn’t want your parents to know I was here. I wanted to see you.”
“You already saw me today.”
It was all I could take. “I wanted to kiss you some more, if that’s okay.”
He smiled. “You should have said that first.”
Puddle Jumping is only 99¢, but is totally worth more than that.
Wow, this sounds like one deeply emotional story. Wonderful review.
It is definitely a wonderful one.
It seems emotional, and inspiring, and please don’t tell me it ends sad? I can’t take sad ones right now, though I do want to read it just because of that quote. <3
Lol – Just read it, you’ll be happy. 😉
I love that the author tackled Asperger’s Syndrome in the book. I love it when authors do that.
I’ve heard some great things about this book from GR. It sounds emotional and beautiful. I need to get a copy.
Lovely review, Christy!
It’s definitely nice to get a love interest who isn’t “perfect”, ya know? He’s REAL.
This is totally new to me, and having a son with Asperger’s make me curious.
Oh Kim, you should read it! I’d LOVE to know what you think of it.
Short and sweet, who doesn’t love Reads like that?! A hero that has Asperger’s syndrome is interesting, I don’t think I have the patience to tolerate unfiltered remarks so that should be interesting.
Unfiltered remarks is part of AS, so that’s just Colton. It’s really good, Braine. You should try it.
I bought this after all the buzz about it on Goodreads and now I am even more glad that I did. I need to squeeze this one in!
Good! Squeeze it in. It won’t take long to read.
There is something completely endearing with characters like Colton. If he was characterized well, then I see him as highly inquisitive, completely honest and with an innocence like that of a child. Gah. I’d love to meet him!
You should read it Joy. It’s a very quick read, but doesn’t skimp or feel rushed at all.
OMG I love Colton! That last little snippet just made me smile, I adore people like him who have no filter and are honest in every aspect of their lives – there’s not posturing, pretense or game-playing, they just call things as they see them. Buying this immediately Christy!
I think you’ll really enjoy this, Jenny!
I’m in the mood for a quick read that delivers a lot of bang for my buck, and this book sounds PERFECT! I also like that it features a character with Asperger’s Syndrome because it helps to add a real world feel to the story I think. Great review!
It’s really a great story! I hope you read it soon.
I got a copy of this last week after reading another brilly review. It seems this one is taking the blogosphere by storm.
That makes me happy to hear that. I’ve only seen one other review for this, which is what made me buy it. Hope you love it, Heidi.
A hero with Asperger’s Syndrome is definitely different and in very interested in how both main characters interact and how their relationship develop into love. And with a price point link that, my 1-click finger is itchig to snap this up! I think I will 😉
I read another book where the MC has AS, and it was really good. This one is from Lily’s POV, so it’s interesting seeing and experiencing the Colton she falls in love with. I hope you read it!
This sounds fabulous! Love that price as well. I don’t think I’ve had a romance with a character that has autism. I also love that cover. This sounds like total WIN.
It IS a total win, Melissa! I hope you read it.
Oh this one sounds cute and sweet and completely different to anything else i’ve ever read before! You’re making me want this one so bad! i’ll have ot go run over and get it for only 99 cents!
I hope you love it, Lily!
Puddle Jumping does sound like a special story. Jessica reviewed it for the blog a few weeks ago and she loved it too! Great review, Christy!
Jessica is the reason I bought this in the first place! 😀
Wow! Fantastic review Christy! This sounds like the sweetest read. And that teaser at the end… damn!
It’s funny how close this can hit you… my friends son and my boss’s grandson both have Aspergers (the boys are both friends too) and to see it in a book would be amazing. Again, great review!
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
Yes!! You know I agree with everything you wrote in this review. This was fantastic and I know I’ll be rereading it many months from now. I’m thrilled you loved it too!
That quote just sold me. I need to get my hands on this book! BADLY.
I am really glad you enjoyed this, Christy and THANK YOU for sharing this with us!
Great review! 🙂
I haven’t heard of this one before — definitely going to add it to the list.
Oh that sounds good Christy! And I totally would have skipped it based on the cover. Shame on me I know. Interesting about the aspergers. I read a historical last year–can’t for the life of me recall the name–but the hero had what came across as aspergers. It was a very interesting dynamic.
Oh, oh! This sounds so sweet! I’d one-click it, but I already have, LOL.
This sounds like a heartwarming and unique story. I don’t think I’ve ever read a romance where someone had Asperger’s, I’ve only seen supporting characters like this. I can’t really resist a sale like that either, and I’m actually relieved it’s a shorter read because my reading time is limited this summer. Great review!
I don’t know about the accident prone stuff. I hate that, but I must admit, this does sound like a good romance.
It isn’t like that Bella Swan accident prone crap. Lily is just a bit of a daredevil sometimes and it doesn’t always end well. Lol
Oh, you know I’m buying this NOW, as in two seconds ago… THANK YOU!! xoxoxoxo
I would never have paid attention to that book if it weren’t for your review. Now I want it !
