Holy cow, it’s August! This upsets me for a few of reasons:
1. My son’s birthday was on the 1st, which means I now have a 17-year-old.
2. School starts in a couple weeks, which means I officially have a senior in high school.
3. The sun is already starting to set a little bit earlier, which means summer is getting ready to break up with me. *sigh*
I read 18 books in July, and DNF’d one. I hope that I’ll get plenty of reading in during August, but it’s going to get a little crazy around here. I have a few trips to make, so plan to read while traveling.

Hope you have a great week!
I’m reading Five Ways to Fall right now and loving it! I’m glad I got myself a copy of Burying Water as well. It looks really good, especially with that intriguing synopsis.
I’ve also heard great things about the Barry Lyga series! I need to get a start on it one of these days.
Enjoy your books this week, Christy! ๐
Ugh, I’m so behind on that series, I still need to read the second book. Burying Water sounds good though.
Yeah, Lyga’s series is very good! I just finished the 2nd book and can’t wait to read the3rd.
I’d be so screwed if I didn’t have you follow behind in NG – I had no clue (yet again) that Burying Water was up on NG! I never go to that site as it is – UGH!!! Fricka fracka racka, ugh… I hate waiting to be approved ๐
So, life’s pretty shitty over there, huh? A 17 year old – ouch! At least you’re not using a heating pad everynight trying to keep up with an eight year old. Yeah, I’m screwed when he’s a teenager and I’m in my 50’s and deaf.
I’m SOOOO KIDDING on the shitty part!!! At least it’s summer year round there!
Oh, hang in there, girlie…. at least you’re not old like me ๐ Find a Ritchie book to read, that’ll fix everything!!!
I check NG a couple times a week, but there’s not usually a lot on there I want.
Pfft … it’s so not summer year round in my area. Thank goodness, because that means it would be in the 100s year round. No way could I deal with that.
Ha – I WILL read a Ritchie book soon. So there.
Damn it, I kept checking NG for Burying Water and missed it, well I put a request in so we shall see. I usually check for certain books twice a week, but never looked this week. Big milestones happening for you. I fell apart when my nest began to empty and that is how I became a blogger..LOL
I don’t even want to think about when he leaves. That’s not cool. ๐
Congrats on your son’s birthday! I bet you are a proud mother ๐ I hope you get to read a lot of books and enjoy your travels as well.
Thanks, Jeann!
Yes, I’m not ready for my relationship with summer to be over either. I’m in the denial stages ๐
Enjoy Burying Water, I love all the covers in this series so much. I’m way behind though and am only on book 2. And The Opportunist was great, I love head wreckers like that one!
Have a good week!
Summer is such a jerk for loving then leaving us. ๐
Wait … Burying Water isn’t part of the series is it? I’ll have to double check.
I thought it was part of the Ten Tiny Breaths series. And I thought wrong! :O
Loved If I Stay & Where She Went. I actually cried more during Where She Went. Adam broke my heart. Mortal Danger DNF? I have seen such a huge variety of opinions on that one. Been contemplating going to the signing for it but since I never read her dystopian before it not sure if it will be worth it. Been wanting to start the Barry Lyga series though. Enjoy!
If I Stay was extremely emotional and personal for me, but I did love Where She Went.
Idk, Mortal Danger was boring and I hated the character and the ridiculous extreme stereotyping.
This is the last weekend before school starts and I’m dreading it. Anyway, I hope you’ll enjoy Obsidian and Mara Dyer. I loved those books!
I hope I can get to them soon. They’re both books I’ve wanted to read for awhile.
A 17 year old and a boy. Good luck. I look at my 13 yr old boy and wonder if I am going to make it through his teenage years. My 20 yr old daughter was so much easier and less defiant. Anyhoo, you got some great books and I hope you enjoy them.
My son has actually been pretty easy. I can’t tell you how thankful I am that he’s not like me at that age. My poor mom … lol
I hope your son had a good birthday and that he has an awesome senior year! It wasn’t that long ago that I was a senior in high school and oh my, that year was both very stressful, but also a lot of fun!
Have a good week! ๐
Thanks! I think it’s going to be more stressful for me than him. lol
Three good books in a week? I love when that happens. ๐
I’ve also noticed the days getting shorter. ๐ Ah well, happy reading!
Oh yeah, I love a good reading streak.
My birthday’s at the end of the month and ack not ready for another year to be added to that number! lol I can’t believe August is already here either. Seems like the summer just started. Crazy!
Yay a birthday! Sigh … I know though, it’s a bummer.
Been wanting to read ‘If I Stay by Gayle Forman’! I’ll come to take a look at your blog once you post the review. Have a good week, Christy ๐
It was SOOOO good! You should definitely read it.
I can’t believe it’s August already either, and definitely agree, so sad that the sun sets earlier now. (Ps. Happy bday to your son! My birthday’s in Aug, too except…I’m much older than 17, haha)
Too bad about the DNF about Mortal Danger! I’ve been seeing mix reviews for that one..Hope you have an awesome week!
Thanks, Cyn. And yay for another August birthday. ๐
Yeah, MD just wasn’t for me.
I have a 17 year old who is heading way to quickly towards her 18th birthday! It’s crazy! She’ll be a senior this year as well. We already have one whose away at college which is weird enough but this one’s talking about going even further away. I had to make a “no plane ride” rule saying that where ever she went had to at least be in driving distance. Great books this week! Burying Water looks good and I need to go check out your review for Breathe Annie Breathe. I’m behind on my blog visiting this week and missed it!
-sigh- They need to stop growing up. ๐
I can’t wait for the summer to break up with me, I can’t stand the heat ๐ And happy belated birthday to your son
lol! Thanks, Fiza. ๐
I hear ya on all 3 except my daughter will be 17 next month. Plus, *gulp* all 3 of the youngest kids will now be in high school. *holds Christy tight in bear hug* O.O We can do this!
All of your books look so good. Enjoy and have a great week!
I’m pretty bummed about the upcoming breakup with Summer too. And that school’s about to start back up.
Burying Water sounds interesting. I can’t wait to see what you think. I really enjoyed Obsidian when I read it, like, two or three years ago, maybe.
I hope you love all your books!
Gah, it must be so strange to have a senior in high school!!! I don’t have any kids, but I can’t imagine when that day comes. Hope you get lots read this month. I’m hoping to as well, but mainly, I want to get back into the swing of scheduling more because school starts for me soon and that cuts back on “fun” things like reading, blogging, etc.
If summer is breaking up with you, it’s because it wants to come back to me…. Winter is trying to hang here, but I’m trying to ditch it!
I hope you enjoy Obsidian, I really like the Lux series!
Thanx for visiting My Weekly Wrap-Up!
Naomi @ Nomiโs Paranormal Palace
Aw, it’s hard watching kids grow up, isn’t it? ๐ I know my mom had a bit of a time when I turned 18 and went to college and moved away. I’m actually so read for summer to end, I prefer fall so much more.
Congrats on reading 18 books! That’s so great.
I started reading If I Stay last month! I ended up stopping though because a little of the writing turned me off. ๐ I think I’m going to start it back up after I finish these next…two books. I’m trying to get it read by the time the movie comes out. I should have plenty of time. ๐
Oh my goodness,The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer! I’ve been wanting to read that book. I don’t have a kindle though and I don’t like reading on screen. ๐ And already have plenty of books to read. *sighs* Maybe next month.
Thank you! Have a great week yourself. ๐
There is no way you are old enough to have a 17 year old!! Crazy! And darn those summer suns trying to break up with us. I won’t stand for it! ๐
Obsidian being free is like magic. I was so excited. Have you read it?
I just read a glowing review of Puddle Jumping what did you think of that one? I loved Breathe Annie Breathe. I am starting The Game soon. I can’t wait. You should have finished Mortal Danger. It took a little patience but I thought it was well worth the read.
Yes, the days are already shorter, I hate that ! Obsidian is one terrific series ! Have a great week ๐
I’m one of the weird people that are secretly glad the summer’s nearly over. ๐ Autumn is my favourite time of the year and some of my most anticipated books come out in September and October. Hope you enjoy your new books, Christy! I need to read something by Barry Lyga soon. ๐
I’m hoping to catch u on reading this month too. I won a paperback copy of Ruining Me two months ago but I haven’t read it yet. I’m curious to see if you like it or not.
I hope you have a good week Christy!
