Sunday Post #86 (7/6/14)

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Hope everyone had a fun 4th of July! The town next door puts on a big festival. We were up at 5am for my son to run the 10k and then a pancake breakfast. They also have food booths, games, live music, and all that fun stuff. We didn’t really stay around for those things though. We came home for a little bit instead, then went to a friend’s house for barbeque, swimming, and fireworks. I’m exhausted today and pretty much dead to the world, so I apologize for slacking on the blogging front.

And it has been so HOT! It’s been in the hundreds (103Β°- 107Β°) and it looks like there isn’t any relief in the near future. It’s miserable. Every year we add more days that reach triple digits. Couple that with having the worst air quality in America … Barf.Β  Time for a beach or mountain trip? I do believe so.

  1. Sounds like you had a fun 4th! It has been hot! Although anything over 90 is hot to me but the 100s really kill. Oooh you read Boomerang! I hope it was good because I am getting a copy very soon. It looked like a good read. I’m going to get Beautiful Oblivion at the signing on the 9th. I am always hesitant when I pick up companion books because I never know if I’ll enjoy the couple as well as I did the first but usually I do. Enjoy!

I love the mid-90s, but weeks and weeks of 100+ … no. Just no. Boomerang was so good! You’ll love it.

  2. Love the cover for Seven Sons, and Claudine is already on my wishlist! Glad you enjoyed the festival, Christy, and hope the heat level drops soon! We’ve been lucky so far, and June was pretty cool, but we’ll have scorching weeks ahead of us very soon. Take care, sweetie!

  3. Your 4th of July sounds amazing! I hope the Finnish independence celebrations were as festive as you have in US.
Good luck coping with the hot weather – it is getting warmer here is as well next week, but hopefully not too warm because we don’t really have any A/C systems here or anything because they’re not normally needed.
    Have a good week!

Blah, I love warm weather, but this is ridiculous. Watching other people set off fireworks is definitely a plus since they’re so expensive. πŸ™‚

  5. Sounds like you had a huge 4th! I don’t blame you for being worn out! Just the mention of a 10K at 5AM makes me want to go back to bed. So sorry it’s so hot where you are. I like heat but that’s really too hot to enjoy. Looks like you’ve got some great books this week. I keep seeing Beautiful Oblivion and am intrigued. The cover always catches my eye!

  6. You got Red, sweet. Today put your feet up and rest. Yesterday it was so humid here that your clothes felt wet and the air took your breath. Glad ya all had a great 4th. We worked on the deck and bought new appliances..serious fun right?

Yep, Ali picked Red for me to read this month and I picked Killing Sarai for her. So hopefully it’s good! And heck yeah, buying new appliances is THE AMERICAN WAY! lol

I’m reading Ghost Seer now and it’s okay, so hopefully Ghost Layer will be better. I’m hoping Red will be good.

  7. I hear you on the heat, not quite that hot here but it hasn’t been cooling down at night so it feels like it is hot all the time. Last night at one int he morning it was still in the 80’s here. That is just yuck.

Congrats on the books! I hope you love Beautiful Oblivion.

Yeah, it freaking suck when the low is 70 degrees and it doesn’t get there until 4-5am. BLAH.

I haven’t read Beautiful Disaster … I’m kind of afraid to. So I’m starting here.

  8. Oh wow, I feel guilty for the amazing weather we had this weekend. Stay cool!

I’m pretty curious about Claudine. I hope it’s good. I got Seven Sons a few months ago, but haven’t gotten the courage up read it yet,

    Enjoy your books!

  9. Sounds like an eventful weekend!! And yes… send a little heat this way! We’ve been getting frosts lately… grrrrr…. I am excited to read Beautiful Oblivion… Those Maddox boys… yum!!
