Β Can you believe it? We are already halfway through the year! I’ve read over 80 books, which is usually closer to what I read during the entire year. So I’m going to share my top ten reads of 2014 … so far. I did this last year, but for some reason I only did top six. I had to do more than that this time. It’s already a tough list to make, so I’ll be curious to see how many of these make it on my top ten at the end of the year.
The books may not have necessarily been published this year, just read. And they will not be listed in any particular order. Also, I’ve read or caught up on a few series, so I’m going to count any of them as one. My blog, my rules. π
Red Rising by Peirce Brown
I guarantee this makes it on my list at the end of the year. This was only the 4th book I read in 2014, but I knew then that it for sure had a spot. If yo haven’t read this, then you a sorely missing out. BIG TIME! Plus, Peirce Brown is a hottie. π
Charley Davidson Series by Darynda Jones
I read the first book over a year ago, but I read the 2nd through 6th books this year. So far the 6th book is my favorite, but we’ll see how the 7th rates in a few months.
Love, in English by Karina Halle
This book makes my all time favorites list, so of course it’ll be here. All I’m going to say is this book means a lot to me.Β β₯
Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover
Bea-u-ti-ful! This was the first book I read by Hoover and it turned me into a huge fan.
The Artists Trilogy by Karina Halle
I read the whole trilogy this year and LOVED it. Yes, that means Karina is on the list twice. What can I say, she’s damn good at what she does.
On the Fence by Kasie West
You can almost guarantee you’ll find a Kasie West book on my lists. This was SO good!
In the Company of Killers by J.A. Redmerski
Wow. Just freaking wow! Especially The Swan and the Jackal. That book was … a-freaking-mazing!
(Don’t You) Forget About Me by Kate Kayrus Quinn
Man, Kate can write. This book was unique & fantastic!
Tangled by Emma Chase
If you’ve read this, then you understand why it made it on this list. If you haven’t, then you are missing out on a hilarious and sexy book. Everyone needs to meet Drew!
Addicted / Calloway Sisters Series by Krista & Becca Ritchie
This ISN’T cheating! The Calloway Sisters is a spin-off series, but are also part of the Addicted series, so should be considered one series, in my opinion. I read all of the books that are available and can’t get my hands on the next one soon enough! I haven’t reviewed Hothouse Flower yet, but oh, was it ever good!
My Reviews – Addicted / Calloway Sisters
Red Rising, Tangled and Charley Davidson rock!! Awesome list my friend!
I’m dreading making the list at the end of the year. Now THAT is going to be super hard.
Oh I’m sad to say that I’ve only read the Charley series, I’ll have to try the others as well!
You should definitely try Red Rising, Melliane. π
The only ones I’ve read are On The Fence, Tangled, and The Addicted Series. I have all the rest on my TBR pile though. I’ve been really wanting to read Red Rising and Maybe Someday soon. I just caught up on the rest of Hoover’s books. Don’t You Forget About Me sounded really weird and unique. Glad to hear it was a great read. Will definitely have to try it now.
You definitely need to read all the ones you haven’t read yet! READ THEM!
Tangled is such a great book! I panic when I think about making lists like this. Thanks for sharing!
lol -This one wasn’t too hard, but I know the one at the end of the year will be VERY tough.
I haven’t read any of thees yet, but several of them are on my radar for potential future choices π
I hope you read them! π
Don’t You Forget About Me and On the Fence were sooo good. You have a lot of good ones that you’ve read so far this year!
I loved both of them so much!
So. How much do I fail that I’ve only read one of the books on this list? What is the matter with me Christy?1 I need to get moving on so many of these, particularly Red Rising and Killing Sarai. I can’t wait to finally get my hands on both of those:):)
Yes, read those. I love Killing Sarai and the series, but you have to read Red Rising.
Hey, series and spin-off series, totally count as one. They do, they do, they do. π I’ve read On the Fence (my first Kasie West and damn), and of course (Don’t You) Forget About Me, which I also loved. And I have around 3 in my TBR. Love, In English, The Artists Trilogy (see, totally counts as one) and Maybe Someday. Which I can’t wait to read. π I need to pick up Red Rising, Plus, Peirce Brown is a hottie. Finally, someone said it. π Okay, leaving now…
Oh man, you HAVE to read Red Rising! You need to read all of those, but Red Rising is a MUST read. And my feelings for it have nothing to do with my PB crush. π
Yay! I love that some of these have been mine as well!
Okay, we are seriously doing the you pick a book for me and I pick one for you each month. I LOVE that idea Christy!
Let’s do it! I’ll email you in a few.
I havent’ even thought about my fav reads of the years. Charley is always up there. I need to read the Karina Hale series and a couple of others on your list. I am behind on reading now as I haven’t been reading the last week as much.
Yeah, I think as long as there is a Charley book, it’ll make the list.
What a great list! I want to read so many of them on there.
Then read them, Melissa! π
The 80 books makes two of us! Generally I’m hovering at around 40-60.
I haven’t read any of the ones you listed, but I am revealing my list tomorrow… but only for April-June! :3
Woohoo – we’re rocking the reading goal! π I look forward to seeing your list.
YES I loved Red Rising and Maybe Someday! There’s been a lot of fantastic books released this year and I really want to read Don’t Forget About Us as well.
There certainly have been. And I know there are still a few coming out that I’m sure will be too.
Oh love the post. I’ve read the Artist Trilogy and really enjoyed those. I need to get on those Darynda Jones ones.
I really want to read all of those listed by Karina Halle- they have been on my wish list for awhile now. I also want to read the Charley Davidson series.
I knew I was going to find some new goodies. I’m waiting for Karina Halle’s book to be publish on audio, that one is already on my list.
I love Charley, Sins & Needles and in company of killers…So that’s a pretty good match percentage. If this was match.com or eHarmony.com we would be couple…LOLLOL. Now I have to check out your other picks π
Great list — some I’ve read, and some are on my TBR list! Thanks for sharing.
I just bought Tangled in paperback and Sins and Needles in ebook! So excited. I almost got Red Rising, but I am saving it for later. I don’t like to buy too many books at one time.
Awesome list, I might do one of these on my blog.
Murder of Crows would be on my list for sure. I still need to get a bunch of the books you listed read still. I’ve heard great things about Red Rising and Sins and Needles. I hope to get both of them read soon.
Red Rising is at the top of my list too. The rest of them are either already on my TBR, or about to be π I can’t believe the year is half gone already either, and 80 books–WOW. Great post, Christy!
I might have to give Red Rising by Peirce Brown another try, really struggled with this one, but great list overall! some good reads up there. Charley <3
I read the first Charley Davidson and loved it, I think I have the first 3 of them. Time is just not my friend. And I am totally getting the JA Redmerski and Karina Halle books as soon as payday comes!!
Ahh i still have to read Red Rising but i completely agree with Love, In English, Tangled, Maybe, Someday and anything by Kasie West! Can’t wait to see your top ten favourites by the end of the year!
Wow, you’re over 80 books now. My goal for this year is 80 books and so far, I already read 59 books (novels + manga). I read Red Rising too and although the book is too huge, I really like it. Too bad we have to wait for a few more months for the next book.
This year, my goal is to finish all the series I have started. All serial novels that I have read years ago that until now, I have not finished yet. I put it on a list and I have 7 series book to finish.
I don’t think I ever read this many books so early in the year, so it’s unusual. I’m happy about it though! π
I made that goal too. Unfortunately I’m still starting new ones. lol
I know! It is difficult not to start a new series especially when you have friends who loves recommending new books all the time or seeing new series on Goodreads or twitter..
Love, in English, Maybe Someday, Kiss the Sky and Hothouse Flower are among my favorite reads of the year so far, too. I also loved Karina’s Artists trilogy. I have a copy of Dirty Angels and I’m holding off on reading it for now to use it as a reward for something… I just have to decide what. π
I’ve only read one book out of this pile, Christy. Maybe Someday was as gut-twisting as they come, and no surprise there since Colleen Hoover seems to be adept in putting her readers’ hearts on a blender set to a slow, painful speed.
You’ve got such a strong heart for reading Karina Halle’s books. Good Lord, woman. Angst, anyone?
I picked up On the Fence, so yay! I can’t wait to read that one.
Great list, love. And yes, it’s absolutely bonkers that we’re mid way through 2014 already!
