June is practically over! Boooo! At least it was a good week. I’ve been communing with nature the past couple days. Now I’m tired and don’t want to put this post together. Actually, I don’t even want to be online.
I read 13 books in June, and I’ve read 85 towards my annual goal of 95. I can’t decide on whether to adjust my goal or not. I’m leaning towards not. Do any of you adjust, or do you just let it be?
On the Blog
- In the End by Demitria Lunetta – Review. A disappointing end to the duology.
- Better Homes and Hauntings by Molly Harper – Review. Not impressed, but it was still okay/good.
- Talk This Way by Dakota Cassidy – Review. Pretty good prequel to a wonderful series.

For Review:
Illusions of Fate has a gorgeous cover, but every time I upload it to the blog it gets that weird haze.

Purchased/Free:
They were/are all $0.99 or free.
Hope you all have a great week!
I’ve heard some fantastic things about Illusions of Fate already, and I’ve loved other books by the same author (except for Chaos of Stars) so I can’t wait to read it! Have a lovely week Christy!
Oh, I was hoping the Harper book would be good. 🙁 I’m avoiding your review until I read my copy.
I usually adjust my goal but it doesn’t really matter as long as you’re reading. Stay cool and happy reading!
I want some time to commune with nature, lol. It’s so hot and humid outside right now and it’s just not pleasant at all. Ooo this is my first time seeing The Fall, I’ll have to go check it out!
I hope you have an awesome week Christy!
Oooh, I didn’t know you posted your In the End review!! will have to check that out asap 😀 And yay, we got the same books this week! Edelweiss will be the death of me..
I have 80 as my goal at the moment and was going to increase it but have changed my mind also. That way I don’t feel pressured because I hate not reaching my goal.
Hope you have a great week and enjoy your new books.
Sharon
Congrats Christy on almost reaching your goal!!!! That’s wonderful! Last year I met my goal, and upped it, but this year, I don’t thin I will. Illusions of Fate looks really good! I love magical books 🙂 I’m looking forward to seeing what you think of this one. I haven’t read anything by this author, but her Paranormalacy Series looks fun! Have a great week 🙂
Oohh you read Hothouse Flower! So good! Thrive comes out in 19 days and I have just been dying for it. And voting for Loren in the New Adult Crush Tourney. Excited for Illusions of Fate. Funny it looks like that. I swear sometimes blogger does stuff like that to me to. Makes stuff have funny spaces or makes one pictures randomly big and I get so mad but I’m too lazy to switch to wordpress and the same stuff would probably happen to me there anyway. LOL I have no technical skills.
Omg, I can’t wait for Thrive!! But at the same time, I want to wait a little while before I read it so I can space them out more and make them “last longer.” lol
I am excited for the Fall. So freaking creepy.
I had a little moment with nature this weekend myself and planted around my mailbox finally. Was more than enough nature for me 🙂
Can’t believe it’s almost July either! Holy cow it’s moving fast.
I started a reading challenge, this year, but I gave up, I didn’t review as fast as I read and it kinda stressed me ! Have some rest and enjoy your sunday 🙂
I’ll just let my reading goal as it is. Actually, I’m lazy to adjust it. Haha. It’s up to you in the end whether you want to adjust it or not. Ultimately, it’s the reading process that is fun, right? 😉
Have a great week ahead!
I think my goal was at the beginning of year like 25 and now I’ve always kept raising it my 5 and I think it’s now 65… I will probably stop adjusting it if I ever reach like 80 or something like that and then just let it go over the set challenge amount.
Have a good week!
You’ve got Penny Reid! Neanderthal Seeks Human is such a great book, I’ve re-read it 2 or 3 times already! I really can’t wait to get Neanderthal Marries Human though. It’s killing me I don’t have enough to get it just yet!
A lot of people seem to really like it, so I’m pretty excited to read it.
I definitely think you won’t be disappointed 🙂
I agree, I do love the cover as well and you can still kind of see what it is, even if hazy. I think you can safely adjust your annual goal upwards … just saying 🙂
Awesome selection of books. I really loved Plague Town a lot. The sequels are just as good by the way. I sometimes think it’s my browser when pictures get hazy. I try to fix it with my photo editor and then resave it. Sometimes that works.

I don’t usually adjust my goal during the year, but it’s usually because I don’t read as much as I wanted to and I refuse to adjust it down. This year, however, I’m more than 50% towards my goal and since we are halfway through the year, I figure I’m where I should be.
You have some more great sounding books on your list.
Have a great week!
Yup, I think we all got Griffin & White this week. It’s YA Fantasy christmas!!
I have adjusted my goal before but not always. I don’t think I did last year but I remember doing it the year before when I went crazy and read a ton of books.
I got both of your review books as well and am super excited about them! So glad you will be reading them too. 🙂
Oh whoa congrats on almost reaching your goal! I haven’t even come close to reading that many books this year! it’s been a crazy busy year so far! Usually I adjust my goal if i’m coming close to finishing it super early but i ony adjust it once and let it be. If in a few months I reach it again i just let it go.
I haven’t heard of any of the books in your haul but i’m excited to hear what you think of them!
The cover for The Fall is amazingly creepy! That’s too bad about the Harper book. I have it coming up so I will adjust my expectations. Look forward to your review! I do tend to adjust my goal if I meet it really early and am going to be a big number of books over but if I meet it in say November I probably wouldn’t. Have a great week!

If I have a considerable amount of time left in the year I adjust my goal (not by a lot though). Otherwise I let it be. I have to get my butt offline and go clean house. We’ve been neglecting quite a bit with the kids gone, but having a great time, so…:D Have a wonderful week!
Boo? But with July in sight so is the vacation period….or not?
As for how many books I’ve read…I don’t know I haven’t updated my GR in months >.<
With June gone, that’s one less month of summer left and one month closer to colder months. 😉
Oh that’s nice, many books for you, I hope you’ll like them all. Happy reading!
I’m so sad June is almost over already! I usually adjust mine if I’ve managed to get ahead of the game. though really it doesn’t matter much, haha.
Great haul this week! I’ve still waiting to see some reviews before deciding if I want to pick those two up, but they both do sound really good! Have an awesome week.
Hey Cyn – I was just on your blog and tried leaving a comment on your SP, but when I submitted it your blog stopped loading. Now I can’t get back on and I don’t know if my comment actually went through. I don’t know what’s going on with it, it just stopped loading for me.
Hi! I checked it, it should be working now. I don’t think your comment went through though. Thanks for letting me know!
You are on a roll! I leave my challenge goal alone. I am curious about the Turtle novel.
Congrats on being so close to your goal. Lots of good books too. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
About your reading goal… I can’t decide what to tell you to do. One way to look at is to leave your goal alone b/c that’s what you set out to read in December. You had no clue you were going to read so much in Feb (?). So you’ll want to show in Goodreads that you grossly misjudged. OR do you want to adjust for that major month of reading? Hmmmm… I have no clue!!!
I have Illusions of Fate and The Fall tagged in Edelweiss that I might go grab them!! NOW I have to go get them… ugh… 😉
Have a great holiday week!!! Are you going to the beach???
Haha – I think I’ve decided to leave it. Then I can see the difference once I’m done.
That’s right, you have fallen under my influence … get the book get the book get the book get the book. 😀
I’ll probably go after the 4th. Everything is booked right now, even the camp grounds. People are already setting fireworks off around here and it’s annoying.
Oh I have got to get me a copy of The Fall. This is the first time I’m seeing it. I loved the Fall of the House Of Usher with Vincent Price. Scary movie! Never read the Poe book though.
About adjusting your goals… I have increased mine before, but I don’t decrease it. I wish I did because I’m failing miserably at my goal this year. I’ve been hitting over 150 books a year so I put my goal to that… and this year, there is no way I’ll get that unless I non-stop read from now until Dec 31st… or cheat and read smaller books. LOL
Oh, yeah! I forgot about that movie. Well, I hope this book is good.
LOL – Just read a bunch of novellas, then you’ll catch up. They totally count! 😀
LOL! I’ll keep that in mind!
Plague Town looks good; i haven’t been back on the apocalyptic/contagion books saddle for a while, so looking forward to reading your thoughts on this book.
Have a great week, Christy!
I don’t adjust my goals, I know I am going to hit mine early too. I’ll just up it next year!
Lots of awesome new reads… off to see if some are still cheap!! lol
Thanx for visiting My Weekly Wrap-Up!

Oh, I adore The Deepest Cut. That’s a really good series!
I haven’t felt like being online either. I say embrace it!
Congrats on the new books! The Deepest Cut sounds really good!
Illusions of Fate does look really good
Neanderthal Seeks Human is amazing, Christy! So hope you like it! Love the rest of your haul too – especially The Fall and Illusions of Fate. Enjoy!
