Champion kickboxer Haley swore she'd never set foot in the ring again after one tragic night. But then the guy she can't stop thinking about accepts a mixed martial arts fight in her honor. Suddenly, Haley has to train West Young. All attitude, West is everything Haley promised herself she'd stay away from. Yet he won't last five seconds in the ring without her help.
West is keeping a big secret from Haley. About who he really is. But helping her-fighting for her-is a shot at redemption. Especially since it's his fault his family is falling apart. He can't change the past, but maybe he can change Haley's future.
Hayley and West have agreed to keep their relationship strictly in the ring. But as an unexpected bond forms between them and attraction mocks their best intentions, they'll face their darkest fears and discover love is worth fighting for.
I’m in love with the Pushing the Limits series and I’m not afraid to show it! When I finished Crash Into You, I was hoping the next book would either be about Logan and Abby or West with someone else. So I was excited to see West’s name when Take Me On was announced. And guess what. Take Me On rocked! I actually felt the least emotionally invested in this book out of the four, but I still loved it and everyone in it.
The Take Me On timeline overlaps with the very end of Crash Into You. I love how it was done, getting to see what West was going through during that time, and getting glimpses of Rachel and Isaiah from his perspective.
I loved what we saw of West’s personality in Crash Into You. He’s the cocky rich boy, but he seemed to have a sense of humor. And that proved true in this book. He goes through a lot, and I’m really happy with how much growth he showed by the end. It was sad to see what he went through with his parents, and can sympathize with the situation he found himself in.
Then there’s Haley. The girl is a badass and can easily take down some of the biggest guys around, including West. Her story broke my heart though. The situation she was in with her family sucked, but the secret and shame she was hiding because of an incident that happened to her made me both incredibly sad and infuriated me.
I really liked these two together. McGarry always does a wonderful job of pairing her characters off with those who are healthy for them. Sure they both might have issues and struggling with something in their own life, but she introduces them to someone who helps them become better versions of themselves. West and Haley were no exception. They pushed and challenged each other in positive ways. I also liked how they would tease and joke around. And I absolutely loved that Haley taught West to fight, and their use for “tap out”.
Take Me On had great secondary characters. Besides appearances from a few characters we already know and love, there are some new characters. I love Jax, Haley’s cousin. Man though, that guy has it rough living with his super dick of a dad, but he is obviously a really great guy that made me laugh. I hope to see more of him in the future. I also loved seeing Mrs. Collins and her little nod to Noah.
Of course, Beth from the previous books will always be my girl. We have a special connection, people! But Abby, I love her too. The girl is a little crazy, but she’s also wicked smart. I really enjoyed her role in this book and her and West’s “friendship.” I hope Katie puts her and Logan together for the next book, if there is one. She needs someone a little bit crazy and fearless, yet has a good head on his shoulders. He has to be able to keep up with her. Logan is that guy! Yes, I’m campaigning. I don’t want to hear any of that Ethan nonsense, he and Abby aren’t right for each other. I have spoken! Therefore, it shall be!
If you have started this series, you really should. Katie McGarry writes some damn good books!

I am absolutely in love with this series. This was by far my favorite book, although it did rival Dare You To for me (I just love me some Ryan). I am hoping McGarry does more stories for her secondary characters, particularly Abby. I am looking forward to the continuation of Echo and Noah’s story, although I can say that PTL was my least favorite book in the series so far (and that’s not to say I didn’t love it, b/c I did, I just think the books have gotten better as she’s written more and more of them). And I love her novellas. I wish Red at Night had been a full length!
Dare You To was my #1 favorite of the series so far. I have a feeling Abby’s (if there is one) will rival it.
Jeez, what is wrong with me? I sooo need to catch up with this series. This one sounds freaking awesome, can’t wait to meet Hayley and West. Wonderful review!!!
Heck yes, you need to catch up!
I NEED TO ACTUALLY READ PUSHING THE LIMITS SOME DAY. Though, I have flicked through it enough that I feel like I’ve read it now, it counts, right? Yeah, didn’t think so. 🙁 It’s the fourth full length book, right? So, it’s great that it’s just as good as the first, even if you weren’t as emotionally invested.
lol – No, that’s cheating! Yeah, you need to read them. The 2nd book is my favorite.
YEAH CHRISTY!!!!! I still need to read this one (how much do I fail that I haven’t yet?), but I adore this series and Katie McGarry can really do no wrong for me. I haven’t met a book of hers I didn’t absolutely adore, and I have no doubt I’ll fall madly in love with this one as well. I’m so hopeful we’ll get a lot more books in this series, I would love for Ethan to get a book, and I’m intrigued by your mention of Jax, so I’m kind of hoping he might get a book too. And Abby:)
I like to call it McGarry magic. She writes wonderful characters, and that is a priority for me. Hurry and read it!
This is yet another series that I haven’t made time for and really need to. So glad this fourth installment was just as great as the others.
You haven’t started this one? Oh you are missing out. 😉
I am hoping to squeeze this in soon! I bought it on release day and then HQN sent me a digital arc. I am so excited about West and if you said it rocked I know I will be pleased!
I went ahead and bought it too… my request on NG is STILL pending. lol.
I really did like West or his family in the last book, so I’m excited to see he made a great leading character. I would love to see an Abby book too!
Great review!
We get a lot more insight to his family in this book. And yes, MORE ABBY!
I really need to catch up on this series. I have only read the first one, so behind. Glad it is still going strong and that this one isn’t as emotionally charged.
The 2nd book was my favorite so you need to read it.
I love this series and was so bummed I didn’t get it for review. Guess that means I’ll have to go to the library for my Katie fix. 😀 I’m glad you enjoyed this one and I always love her secondary characters as well.
Lol – I didn’t get it for review either. In fact, I requested it the day it went up on NG, but it’s STILL pending. Not sure how long it’ll stay in purgatory. 😀
Awesomesauce! I love that the first 3 went on sale so other people can catch up with the series. I have yet to read Crash, I don’t know why I’m waiting though…
I love when a first book or series gets cheap like that before the next one is released. I always try to grab them even if I’ve read them already.
I heard great things about this series, I know I should try it to, we even have it in French. I’m glad you’re still having a great time with it. Thanks for the review!
Yes you should! French, English … either one! 😉
So happy you loved this book too. I actually was not looking forward to West’s story but it turned out great. I agree, McGarry just knows how to match perfect pair for each book.
I have yet to read this series, but they sound good. Glad you had a blast with this installment too 🙂
GAH. This is the second awesome review for this book that I’ve seen in the past 5 min. You guys WIN! I’ll download the first book to my kindle the second I finish writing this comment. For REAL 😉
I sitll haven’t read this one but like it’s katie Mcgarry and you have such good things to say about this one…URGH…i need to go out and buy it and carve some time in to read it!
Oh I remember Crash Into You and thinking I’ve gotta give these a try! I’ve still not though. Dang tbr pile is way too long! Glad to hear they’re so good 🙂
I liked the first book, DNFed the second, and was meh on the third… but Take Me On? This is the first time in a long while a book from this series has intrigued me. I definitely would like to try this one out again because of the amount of positive feedback!
I love this series too and enjoyed this book too. West changed so much in this book and I loved the man he became. Abby is a character I love too! I hope we get more of her soon!!
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
I LOVE this series and can’t wait to read this one too! It sounds exactly as awesome as I thought it would be, can’t wait!
I’ve got books 1 & 2, and I haven’t read them!! I need to go to reader’s jail, because I’ve heard several times over that this series is great.
