Rescued by a stranger.
Haunted by a secret
Sometimes, love isn’t easy…He watched her, but never knew her. Until thanks to a chance encounter, he became her savior…
The attraction between them was undeniable. Yet the past he’d worked so hard to overcome, and the future she’d put so much faith in, threatened to tear them apart.
Only together could they fight the pain and guilt, face the truth—and find the unexpected power of love.
A groundbreaking novel in the New Adult genre, Easy faces one girl's struggle to regain the trust she's lost, find the inner strength to fight back against an attacker, and accept the peace she finds in the arms of a secretive boy.
I finally read Easy! I get it now, I really do. I’ve witnessed all the love this book got from so many people, and I can say that I understand why, especially when it comes to Lucas. I may not have wanted to go to the highest mountain and scream at the top of my lungs my love for this book, but I did like it a lot. Since it’s pretty much unanimous that Easy rocked many socks off, I’m just going to list a few things I loved about it.
The POV – I’m happy that this was told strictly from Jacqueline’s perspective. I usually like to get at least a little bit from the guy, but I think not getting his in this book worked better.
Characters – Easy has some great character development!
- Jacqueline – I really liked her. At first I was upset about something she didn’t do, but I completely understand how her reaction is realistic. It’s just really sad. However, I loved how much she grew and learned over the course of this book; she became more confident and found her voice. How could I not be proud of that?
- Lucas – Yep, he is without a doubt a wonderful guy. Everyone needs a Lucas. Everyone. He was instrumental in Jacqueline’s transformation into a strong woman, physically, emotionally, and mentally. He may be a bad boy on the exterior, but the guy knows how to treat a woman. All women. But he has his own demons, and they are heartbreaking.
- Erin – Now that is a friend. I was beyond happy with her and her support of Jacqueline. She is without a doubt the kind of friend you want in your corner. Her enthusiasm for the self-defense class had me laughing.
- Kennedy – Okay, okay … hear me out. Yes, he made a douche move, but I actually respect him for being open and upfront with Jacqueline. I completely understood his point and supported his reasoning, even though it sucked for Jacqueline. I think he learned lot from the various mistakes he made and will become a better person for it.
Plot – Easy deals with some serious subject matters, but it doesn’t feel terribly overwhelming. It takes you through various emotions, and the author did a great job balancing everything out.
Everything else – Yeah, pretty much everything about this book was executed really well.
So yes, I am now an Easy fan and definitely plan to read Breakable, which is Lucas’ story.
Gads another book sitting on my tbr pile…looks like I need to dig it out.
Yes, it’s an NA must!
Yet another one I have had way too long sitting in my TBR pile just begging for me to read it. I am so glad this one didn’t disappoint.
You haven’t read this yet? I’m shocked! 😀
Yep, I was one of those shouting my love of this book 🙂 Fab review, Christy! I agree, everyone needs Lucas. And Erin.
I love it so much when girls in this book are so supportive. That certain character from the sorority totally surprised me. I was like “hell yeah, girl power!” lol.
I will have to read something by Tammara Webber and soon! Oh, the peer pressure! It’s killing me. It’s just that I’m not into comtemporarary romance, and especially NA, but this one is hard to resist.
This is a time that I was glad I was peer pressured into reading book. It’s actually a more positive and healthier book in the NA genre. 🙂
The characters really were the best part. It was kind of hard for me to read this book. I get uncomfortable with the subject matter, but it’s a book everyone should read. I agree, it wasn’t the best book ever but it was really really good.
Heck yeah they are. And yes, I agree that it’s a book everyone should read. I think it’s a positive and healthy, which isn’t always the case in NA.
YAASSS! I loved this book. It was one of the first NA books I ever read, and I immediately went and read everything else by Webber that I could find. SO glad you liked it too. I’m also planning on reading Breakable, but it’s going to have to wait until I can dwindle my arc pile a bit . . . Great review, Christy!
I resisted the NA genre at first, so all these books that people loved in the beginning of the craze, I’m just now getting to. 🙂
Yay!!!!!!!!!!! I’m so glad you liked it!! Whew! But trust me – you will LOVE Breakable. And I love the way you broke down this review, it’s awesome 🙂
I wasn’t sure if I’d read Breakable, but have decided that it is worthy. 😀
I can’t even remember what the story is about, but I think I liked it? Serious issues? Not a surprise. However, I think this book was one of the premieres in the New Adult revolution. 🙂
Glad you liked it, dear. ❤️
Yeah, unfortunately I’m behind in the NA genre, so it’s all new to me. lol
This ones on my list too! (I kept hearing at ton about it, but then a friend read it, and I trust her, so added it to my TBR.) It really does sound good though, and mine always rests on the characters, and it does sound like there is some great character growth and I can’t wait to meet Lucas. 😉
I would consider this one of the better of NA, so yes, read it! 🙂
I enjoyed this book too, glad you liked it!
I haven’t found a person yet who hasn’t. 🙂
I still haven’t read this one. *hides* I did check and I can get it from our online library system, :)… It does sound really good so I will put it on hold. Glad you enjoyed it.
I definitely think this is a must read NA.
YEAH CHRISTY!!!! I’m so glad you finally got a chance to read this one and loved it:) This was my first NA book so it will always have a special place on my shelf, and I just adored it. I still need to read Breakable, can’t wait to compare notes with you!
I was really happy that the love interest was such a GOOD guy. I love my a-holes, but Lucas was so wonderful.
I still need to read this one, and I don’t think I have read a negative review for it so far. I don’t think I will ever catch up!
I would say this is one of the better more … healthy NA books out there.
I feel HORRIBLE because i feel like i’m the only one on earth who LIKED this book but didn’t LOVE it! i mean it was great like you mentieond the character development for this one was on point but something still felt off about this one. Maybe it was the writing style or the fact that so many NA’s have the same sort of vibe? I don’t know! Either way i liked it i’m just not head over heels for it like almost everyone else is!
Glad you liked this one though!
Lily
I totally know what you mean. I think this is definitely one of the better one in NA, though. The relationships were all done really well.
I’m relieved to hear that the single POV worked out, and that this was a solid read overall. Glad you finally found time to squeeze this one in Christy!
So am I! 😀
I completely agree with you on all points, even Kennedy. Unfortunately not all relationships work out, and yes, he was honest with Jacqueline, which was way better than stringing her along.
Great review, Christy!
Agreed. And hey, it worked out for her in the end. 🙂
LOL I’ve still not jumped into this one but was really thinking about the one from his perspective and thinking I may just have to give them a go. Glad it rocked your reader socks Christy 🙂
Do it! Give it a go! 🙂
I heard great things about this one so It’s nice to see you enjoyed it. The characters sounds so interesting, all of them! thanks for the review!
I love the characters and their relationships.
I’m beginning to think that I am the only one that hasn’t read this book! It sounds like so much fun! The characters give great depth and I’m curious about the serious subject matter…. Fab review, Christy!
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
I’m so surprised you haven’t read this! You definitely do need to read it.
I actually really love the sound of this series after your review! The format of Easy and Breakable kind of remind me of Hopeless and Losing Hope. Great review Christy!
I haven’t read Hopeless, but from what I understand, Breakable doesn’t only follow the storyline of Easy. There’s a lot more to it.
I can’t believe I haven’t hear from this before…But then again, is here where I find a lot good additions to my TBR (to wait for the audio..lol) This will definitely be add it on 🙂
Thanks Christy!
lol – Well, I’m glad I’m introducing it to someone. I thought I was one of the last to read it. 😉
Oh I think I also need to “get it”. I’ve been curious about this one and knowing that you went in a bit skeptical makes me feel more confident that I will like it too. Great review.
This is for sure a good one, Melissa. 🙂
I have this on my ginormous pile. One day… So glad you enjoyed it!
I hope you get to it soon!
Read this baby back in 2012 I think. I liked it, especially since the NA thing was so shiny and new, but I wasn’t head over heels for it. Maybe I’m just not much of contemporary lover, I dunno. It was a good read, enjoyed it, sure, but nothing close to going fangirl over it though.
Haven’t read the second, for instance, and I don’t really think I want to at this point. Maybe later on though, who knows, right?
Glad you enjoyed it!
So happy to see you loved Easy! Read this one like 2 years ago I think? And was ony of my first Ya-Na books. You’ll really feel proud of Jacqueline here and for everything she has gone through. Plus, Lucas? May I have my own, please?
I read this over a year ago and enjoyed it too! I’m excited about Breakable but I think I’ll wait for your review 🙂
Yep, I do need to read this one. I have been putting it off for no real reason. It was a book that I got ages ago but never got around to and it has since been buried. Glad that it had good characters and that even though it was tough subject matter that the author did a nice job with it.
Great review Christy!
