Sunday Post #79 (5/18/14)

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

I’m probably going to get a sunburn while I put this post together despite applying plenty of sunscreen. I blame my Scandinavian and Irish genes.

So, uh, yeah … I’ve only read one book so far for the Clean Sweep ARC Challenge. I can’t help it! Other books on my TBR are too tempting. I plan to read only review books all next week, though. We’ll see how that goes.

On the Blog

  • Love, in English by Karina Halle – Review. Love it so hard that I don’t want to hear anything negative about it!
  • You Make Me by Erin McCarthy – Review. Disappointing, unfortunately. 🙁

Books Read

Something to Talk About by Dakota Cassidy

Bold Tricks by Karina Halle

Addicted for Now by Krista & Becca Ritchie

Books Acquired

For review:

I can’t even tell you how excited, and at the same time incredibly sad I am for this.

All of these are/were $1.99 or less at the time of purchase. The entire Dresden Files series were part of Amazon’s Daily Deals on Saturday, but I only grabbed the first book. I might regret it later not getting the other ones too.

I want to give you all a heads up about one of my favorite books of 2013! On Sunday Must Love Otters will be only $0.99 as their Daily Find. Amazon likes to match prices, so it looks like they dropped it too for today. This book is so much fun!

What I’m Listening To

Some Calexico on a warm lazy day outside hits the spot.

Have a great week!

This is the last book in the series, so get reading! 😀 Yeah, the sliding doors theme is one of my favorites.

  1. I saw that the first seven in Butcher’s Dresden series were 1.99 this week, but when I went to Amazon to buy #4 (that’s the next one I need to read), they were 4.99 for me. Sometimes I hate living in Europe.
    Anyway, have a fabulous week!

  2. Haha, don’t get sunburned, Christy, it sucks if you have pale skin! 🙂 Storm Front is nice but it actually a series which gets stronger with each book. I’ve only read first two, but have the rest on my kindle as I keep adding them on offers and hoping I’;ll have time to read 🙂

Love, in English was amazing. I’m with you on not wanting to hear one single bad thing about it. I refuse to read a negative review because I don’t want it tarnishing how I felt about the book and the characters. I read You Make Me last week too, and honestly, I felt completely underwhelmed by it. *shrug* I haven’t written my review yet because I’m still processing, but I was expecting more.

Happy reading! I hope you enjoy your new finds.

Thanks Kim. And yeah, I’m avoiding reviews of Love, in English because I don’t want to stumble across something that will irritate me. lol

I love listening to Calexico, especially while laying out in the sun. This is the last book in the KH series and it releases in September. You have some time.

  4. I feel you. I keep getting pulled away from review books lately. I just ended up getting some other ones that I’ve really been wanting and got sucked in. I forced myself to read two review books which turned out to be really good books this week too though. The cover of With You looks HOT, but Forgiven looks more my speed! Hope you have a great week!

That’s what stinks about getting review books so far in advance, I never know how my mood will change.

I know, I’ve been trying to find that one UF series that will fill the hole in my heart that Harrison’s will leave. lol

  5. Have you read Butcher yet??? I love him but I haven’t had time to read past Storm Front. We (my hubs reads them) own them all but he’s given up on the last 2.

Thanks again for the heads up on The Hollows!!! *happy dance*

pssst. I’m not hauling this week – I only got 2 books and I need time to do other bloggy stuff 😀

Nope, I watched the Dresden Files TV show years ago before I even knew they were books. I’m hoping that I’ll love the series.

I’m so glad you got it!

  6. I already got sunburned earlier this week – I blame my Scandinavian skin too. And it’s only been about +17 degrees Celcius here, so I’m kind of scared for when it gets warmer.
Just Like Kate looks pretty good – I had not heard about it before, but I need to check it out from Goodreads 🙂

It is a pain for someone like me who would live in the sun 24/7. lol. I hope Just Like Kate is good.

I don’t do the yearly challenges, only the couple of monthly ones like this that Kimba hosts.

    • Christy

I know, I almost don’t want to read it just so it CAN’T be over for me. No problem, I see Amazon did drop the price too. I’m not behind on the challenge, just not where I wanted to be yet.

    • Christy

The Artists trilogy was really good. Now I need to read her Terror series. Hope you enjoy Love, in English.

lol – yeah, as long as I’m not behind on ARCs, I’m fine. I just wanted to have more read by now.

  7. I am behind on the Hollows books. I really need to get caught up this summer. Read Storm Front! We love Harry! 😀 I will say that the 1st couple of books start off a bit slow (for some readers), but they build with each book. Personally, I’d rather a series start off slow and gain speed as it gets moving rather than peaking early and then falling limp. You know, kinda like sex. lol

lol – that’s a great analogy! I’ve learned that most UF series are like that. So if I like the 1st well enough, I’ll definitely give the 2nd book a go.
