Notorious mean girl Dixie Davis is back in town and it's payback time. Literally. Dixie is flat broke and her best-make that only-friend, Landon, is throwing her a lifeline from the Great Beyond. Dixie stands to inherit his business…if she meets a few conditions:
She's got to live in Landon's mansion.
With her gorgeous ex-fiancé, Caine Donovan.
Who could also inherit the business.
Which is a phone sex empire.
Wait, what?
Landon's will lays it out: whoever gets the most new clients becomes the owner of Call Girls. Dixie has always been in it to win it, especially when it comes to Caine, who's made it clear he's not going down easy. (Oh, mercy.) Can Dixie really talk dirty and prove that she's cleaned up her act? Game on!
Plum Orchard, Georgia, is about to get even juicier…
Isn’t that cover of Talk Dirty to Me just so dang adorable? Thankfully, what’s on the inside is even better! This book was so much fun, and here’s why:
Phone sex – Yes, I’m leading with this. Did you expect anything less from me? I will be honest, if there wasn’t any mention of the phone-sex aspect in the blurb, I wouldn’t have been so quick to get this book. When I was in 7th or 8th grade, my friends and I would use the school payphone to dial random phone-sex numbers. We’d enter 1-900-then spell dirty words out with the numbers and see which ones worked. There would be naughty recordings, but that’s all since we weren’t paying. Trust me, it was funny to a bunch of 12-year-olds. Anyway, I loved the way this was incorporated into the story. And no, it doesn’t get graphic or anything. It was actually pretty clever.
Dixie – I loved Dixie a lot and I can definitely identify with her on many levels. She’s a reformed mean-girl, but her bad reputation is hard to shake, especially in a small town. She used to be wild and rebellious, doing anything to win and often letting her temper rule. The girl was hell in heels. Now in her mid-thirties, she’s a different woman due to a life changing event. When she returns to Plum Orchard, no one is buying it. I love that even though Dixie had changed and strove to be a better person, she still retained that fire and sharp tongue. I got such a kick out of the way she dealt with the gossipers and her nemesis, remaining cool and collected and not taking the bait when they tried to goad her. And boy, did they try.
Caine – Oh la la … This man knew how to push Dixie’s buttons, and boy was it fun! We do get his POV in addition to Dixie’s, but it isn’t as much – they’re included at just the right moments.
Landon – Okay, we technically don’t meet him because he’s dead, but he is a huge part of the story. He is Dixie and Caine’s extremely wealthy gay best friend, who has a wicked sense of humor. His post-mortem shenanigans were quite entertaining, and touching at times. His role in the story was executed really well.
Romance – I loved it! The loathing to love trope is a favorite of mine, and that’s what we get in Talk Dirty to Me. Dixie and Caine have major history, which includes a failed engagement. They have always been extremely competitive with each other, so when they are put in the position where they have to compete to win the company, the fun really begins. I do wish we could’ve got more of their more non-sexual heated moments, because those were so much fun. The sexytime was a lot of fun too, though. 😉
Setting – Gotta love a small town settings! This is set in the South, where you are supposed to be good and proper. So you can imagine their delight <insert sarcasm here> about the new business setting up shop in their town.
Dirty talkers – There are a few girls who work in the office with Dixie and Caine, and their presence is important. They all have very distinct personalities that stood out. Plus, the other books in the series will focus on a couple of them.
Friendships – This book wasn’t only about the romance, the friendship Dixie built with Emmaline was also a major factor to the story. I adore these girls together. Sometimes I enjoy a great friends just as much, if not more, than a romance.
Animals – There is a camel named Toe. Enough said.
Talk Dirty to Me was a wonderful good time, and I look forward to reading Something to Talk About, the next book in the Plum Orchard series. Luckily, each book will be released only a month apart. Hooray!
Plum Orchard
When I read the title, the first thing that came to my mind is that song by Jason DeRulo: Talk Dirty To Me! Now I’m singing it like crazy, good thing no one is around :D.
Love the sound of it and good thing that you enjoyed it too, because as soon as I read the blurb I wanted to add this to my TBR list. Omg, me and my friends did the same thing when we were younger. It was hilarious! A camel you say? LOL.
Great review Christy!
I know, every time I read the title it translates in my head as the song. So I hear the “Talk Dirty to Me” as that song every time.
Haha – Glad to know I wasn’t the only one.
.
At first I thought this was YA, when you were talking about those calls you make..but I want this now. I think the cover is flippin’ sweet. You crack me up, we did all kinds of things like that as kids.
Oh I’m sure you’d enjoy this one. 😉
.
Ha ha! I love you Christy. I think I actually have a copy of this one, yet another one to get to this summer that I just know I will love. 😉
Heh! Oh good, hope you read it.
.
Jeez, you crack me. Isn’t it funny the weird things we did as kids. The camel thing is freakin hilarious. The characters and the setting sounds great. 🙂
Haha – yes, children are weird in general. 😀
.
Yes to antagonistic relationships Christy!!!! My very favorite kind:) I’ve read several reviews lately that have gushed over this book, so it’s definitely going on the list. I want to know what happened to Dixie to make her change so dramatically, and I can’t wait to meet Caine and Landon (in all his dead glory)!
I kind of figured early on what caused her changed, but wasn’t 100%. It really is a fun book!
.
You know me, I’m a lover of all things perverted. So of course, I want to read this. 🙂
You and me both, Joy. lol. Hope you read it!
.
I love the southern small town setting, for sure! Dixie sounds really great as well and I’m very curious about it!
I think you’d really like this one, Candace. The sex scenes are short and not very explicit.
.
Good to know Christy! I have always wanted to try Ms.Cassidy’s books before, but most of her series are well advanced. This sounds like the perfect timing, and the perfect book to get to know her, she strikes me as a very funny person and I can see by your review that her humour is reflected on her writing.
Thanks!
This was my first book by her, but it has made me a fan.
.
I am so excited you liked Talk Dirty to Me! I thought it was such a fun read. Dixie was kinda crazy, and very refreshing. I identified with her too. And yes, Caine was sexxxxxxy ! I just got book tie for review and can’t wait to jump back in.
I hate my review now that I’ve read yours. Lol Its so great!
I like ’em crazy! lol
.
LMAO! Maybe I should give you a dirty phone call for your birthday instead of a hissy fit. Gah — do you realize how many books you have had me one-clicking lately??? Don’t stop… faster… harder… *snorts* Love the sound of this one, too!!
LOL – you crack me up!
.
You little pervert dialing sex phone numbers! You make me laugh. I am so glad you loved this because I grabbed a copy of this. Snickering… camel named Toe!
I know, and it just got worse as the years went on. lol.
.
Bwaha yes. Yes. I need it. You had me at phone sex. That’s too funny. And the cover is so cute! I love it!
Hahaha – It’s a fun book, but not too dirty despite the subject matter.
.
I’ve only read one book in Cassidy’s Accidentally Friends series, but I really enjoyed it. I’m glad to hear that her contemporary romance is equally as good.
This was the first book I’ve read by her, but it has made me a fan. I’ll have to check out that series.
.
So that was you and your friends that kept calling and ruining my call numbers for the week! lol…just kidding…I wouldn’t last five minutes in a job like that because I would be laughing to hard about my “sexy” voice. 🙂 Great review and I love that this one is fun and features great characters. Adding to my wish list!
lol – Same here! Hope you read it soon. I’m sure you’ll like it. 🙂
Haha, see, that’s how you lead in!! Had me hooked, lol!
I’m definitely putting this on my maybe list, I need to be in a special mood to read any kind of ex-involved story. But when I will be in one of those moods, this series will definitely be on my radar. I love the sound of Dixie and the other gals will be a lot of fun, I’m betting.
Hehehehe…. this sounds like a fun lighter read!! You are trying to kill my TBR Christy!! I love the phone sex empire!! lol Awesome review!

This sounds like something funny to read on a boring afternoon! If I were with you when you were 12, I’d find it pretty hilarious, too!
I love Dakota Cassidy. I want to read more of her books, so I’ll have to check this out. That’s great the second book comes out so soon after the first. I hate waiting…no patience!
It’s been a while since I read a book by this author I confess but I read another great review about this one yesterday and I confess I’m more and more curious about it. It sounds like a really nice book, thanks for the lovely review!
Awwww, this sounds so cute and adorable and fluffy and everything 🙂 I always love it if a book is able to showcase a balance between friendship and romance. I hate it when one overshadows the other (okay, maybe I can settle with less romance in my books, no biggie ;P) Thanks for bringing this under my radar!
Phone Sex? Done and Done. Buying! I do love that cover so sexy and adorable.
I just added this to my wishlist a couple of days ago. The cover IS dang adorable, and I’m rather partial to the title too 😉 Great review, Christy! I’ll be reading this one soon, I can feel it!
Oooh sounds saucy! I haven’t read a book that focuses on phone sex before so well, that sounds interesting 🙂 Lovely review!
There is a camel named Toe Oh God. I’m dead. But Landon sounds like he wanted some fun after his death. I know that makes no sense whatsoever, but yeah. At a friends sleepover, she dialled the police (bad bad thing) and I was horrified. So imagine if she’d done that. It sounds like a whole lot of fun though, the book. Not the phone sex dialling. I’m just could to back away and leave now. Still can’t get over the camel though, HA!
I have to admit this book sounds like it would be my guilty pleasure LOL and i also happen to have the Jason Derulo song “talk Dirty” stuck in my head right now. Oh boy and the fact that this book has phone sex, haha!
Thanks for sharing!

I also love loathing to love, and especially if it involves any history between the couple. This sounds like such a fun story. A reformed mean girl + romance and the competition, sign me up! Can’t wait to meet Caine and Dixie. Lovely review!
I love the book cover of this one! Your review has sold me! I love the small town setting, loathing to loving trope, and deep friendships. Caine sounds really yummy, and the phone sex adds an interesting addition to the story! Wonderful Review 🙂
This one sounds like fun! the characters sound great as does the story-line and I love the cover, hehe at a camel named toe 😉 definitely keen to read this one now.
A fabulous review Christy!
It really was a lot of fun! Hope you do read it. 🙂
My itchy hands so want this one. I think I would really love it 😀 it sounds amusing lol and curious about the phone sex hahaah
